how is this any way to run a business?? why did some peoples orders go "through on time" while some of us, who ordered EARLIER in the day, get "stuck" and not go through till the afternoon?

i am wondering if come tomorrow the phone will arrive and I'll feel stupid for stressing over all this. could ATT really suck this bad? that the phone is still on its way and i just dont have any of the tracking info. i dont know what to think

I am another terms and conditions casualty. Ordered on the 14th in the am, it shows the 17th. They never even contacted me to tell me there was a problem, just delayed my order. I was an unlimited data grandfathered in.
What a joke AT&T is.
Wondering if I can trust the system to cancel the order if I go wait at a store and get lucky? Worried it will lock me out even though the cancel button is there. Anyone else taking this chance?
 
I'm in same situation as you are. What a mess! Next time onwards, I'm standing in a line outside apple store.

I'm in a similar situation as well. Ordered from AZ at 11:45am on 9/14. Immediately received the confirmation email with the 9/14 date on it. When I check the email link it says ordered on 9/14 yet the other tracking options state I ordered it on 9/17. Three days is a big difference. And to top it off my CC was immediately held for the amount of the white 32gb (I thought this was a good thing) yet this morning the pending charge dropped completely off my account and is no longer held by my bank.

AT&T's new corporate name should be FU&U. To all of those who have had a better experience...congrats!
 
As told many many times here, calling into customer service really is a waste of time. They just do not know. This stuff is all happening so fast, and a once a year event, etc.... save yourself some trouble.

Yea, check the online every 3.4 minutes. Both at ATT.com and fedex and ups. But don't bother calling.

And don't bother trying to figure out WHAT TIME it will arrive. They have a truckload of packages, including real business stuff with time deadlines to handle. Like payroll checks, critical parts, etc.



Gotta go refresh my UPS and ATT pages again.

Yeah I took tomorrow off just so I can wait for the UPS guy! FUN!

It has been noted somewhere in the depths of this thread that someone canceled their preorder, but since their contract was already signed, they lost their subsidy. Probably not worth $450 + tax to do it. That could be just a fake story, but it's worth mentioning.

I tried to cancel yesterday but got denied. Now the order went through and was shipped. If you check your eligibility on Apple website now, it would tell you that you are not eligible to update which means you wouldn't be able to get a phone in the store.
 
What's the story with all this "terms and conditions" stuff? Is that only for new AT&T customers? I have been a customer for many years, I did not have to accept anything. I placed my order at 2:30AM on Friday the 14th. Got confirmation email right away. Now I have a UPS tracking number and my phone is due to be delivered between 2:30 and 6:30 PM tomorrow.

There was no problem their system is the problem. Same stupid s h I t happened to me and my wife, absolutely ridiculous.

Thought I'd through my story in if it helps anyone

ordered 9/14 at ~ 6AM PST
Got 2 emails from premier, 9/14 and 9/18 both saying it could arrive as soon as 9/21, but no tracking or anything.
Tried calling, no help
tried chatting online with them, no help
Yesterday, 9/19, my status went to "shipped" on attwirless.com, but not on my premier status. It still says processing now I believe.
Got an email today, 9/20 @ 9AM PST with tracking info, will be shipped tomorrow

Same story!
 
update on my orders:

for order #1 for 2 16gb black/slate iphone 5 today in the morning I received my tracking information, they were located in Forth Worth, TX and I will be receiving them tomorrow before 3PM, according to FEDEX.

for order #2 for 2 16gb (1 black/slate 1 white) they went from backordered-1 to backordered-0 yesterday night, but no tracking information nor it changed to shipped...

Funny thing is they tell me my terms and conditions were accepted 9/14 but I didnt place my order til 9/17, explain that. Bullshyt.

Congrats! I'm sure that feels good. How long have you been off back-order?

Went off backorder Wednesday just after noon EST. Backorder went 0 for a few hours but it still showed processing...same thing happened with my 4S.

Now it switches from waiting for AT&T to hoping that the UPS truck is in good working order.
 
You can't be serious...you mean to tell me that he ordered at 1045 and you thought that you would be getting the phone on launch day?!?!?!? You have to get up and order way earlier than that to even think about getting your phone on launch day....why would you be pissed because of your own stupidity?:eek:

We are talking about in store pick up. Many ATT stores didn't open until 10AM. My brother had to wait in line at 10AM to purchase cause att.com kept screwing up the order.

I was trying to order from att.com myself at 430AM eastern time all the way through 9AM and never could get through the final step. I had all 3 phones in the cart but it would never process the order.

I have another iPhone 4s being shipped from apple.com on October 5th. That's with a 430AM eastern time order time.

That is crazy. They tell me they have no record of me placing and order on the 14th.. I have the emails. They also told me I could cancel and try in the store. I don't think I can believe that they could get my account right in time based on their incompetance with all of this.

This happened to me as well. Is the money returned to your account or did you get charged? I know they don't charge your card until they ship out, but they still charged me. I go into my account to check my statements, but there's nothing there. I call my bank and they couldn't see anything on there end that I did a transaction with AT&T so I call AT&T and they said that my order was still in progress. Luckily I got my receipt in case anything happens. Anybody else going through the same thing?
 
really strange stuff going on with mine right now. On att.com I have no order under my orders. I checked my bank account and I now have access to the $200 they had been holding since I pre-ordered. I call ATT and I'm able to get an order status and a tracking number for my phone that's set to arrive Friday. What the heck is going on here? Why did I suddenly get access to that money from AT&T?

Just figured anyone in this situation could try and figure this our here instead of in the other messy ATT thread. I know I'm not alone...and I think we may have a problem in terms of having to wait a couple weeks
