I have been an AT&T/Cingular customer since 2003. I ordered a 16gb black iPhone 5 at 3:06 AM EST on September 14 (order # begins with 1406). Status is still showing as backordered. I called customer service twice today; one rep said the phone was scheduled to ship Oct 4, but that they'd escalate my support claim and someone would call me back (never happened). Another rep said they had no more information about the order status than I did.
If the phone doesn't show up tomorrow, AT&T will be waiving the upgrade fee plus a month of two of service charges -- or I will be moving to Verizon ASAP.
Way to go ATT'rs! We've got nearly a 1000 more posts than Verizon! Man, it's like an alternate universe over there! I know as a fellow ATT'r, I shouldn't peak, but I couldn't help myself.
All 5000+ posts, great service, all getting their iPhones tomorrow, no Verizon CSR's telling lies or being incompetent... We're really the poor step children over here in Big Blue Land...

I ordered my 16GB white at 3:55am CST on 9/14. I received first e-mail right away and then order being processed sent to warehouse at 10:09am. My order has said pending shipment since that time with no updates. I was wondering if the people with actual tracking numbers have seen any common reference numbers? My order number started with 1711, but I am not sure if that really matters.
Hey guys just remember if they don't get your order tomorrow because of misleading information att provided. Just give them a call so they can credit your upgrade fee. Some people I know have done this successfully, just argue smartly saying it was their fault and they should be liable. I better get my phone tomorrow since I sold mine. I'm going to be with out a phone for 2 week.![]()
This is my 3rd pre-order for an iPhone (4, 4s and now 5). This is their MO for Premier. It will show 'processing' maybe up to Thursday. If you ordered early enough last Friday, you'll receive it on time. This is exactly what occurred the last two pre-orders.
sad, because it should work...WE DID NOT MESS UP OUR ORDER! And it sucks that we woke up early to preorder and yet people can walk into AT&T tomorrow and get a phone...
you know people wouldn't be so mad if everyone was not lied to by at&t. Don't say it's being delivered on release day just to take your money and then say you have to wait until mid october. Meanwhile you lost your chance to try and get one in person.
I'm only mad at AT&T cause their ordering system is absolutely a piece of trash built in HTML most likely. I ordered my phone on Friday 9/14, just to have my order status change to 9/17 2 days later. It made no sense. Terms and conditions accepted on 9/14, account charged, 9/14, YET their system shows my order 9/17, explain that. That's why I'm mad. I knew I wouldn't be getting a phone tomorrow regardless because I did order late on Friday. But I didn't ORDER ON ****ING MONDAY AT&T.
Yes, it seemed to have happened to quite a number of us in this thread. Some poor guy even got pushed back to the 17th. I'm going to check out an AT&T store around 7am to see how the line looks. If it's bad, I'll just wait it out. I have an interview tomorrow afternoon (and work at 9am) so I need my rest lol.

Haven't seen anyone reporting coming off of a backorder status in quite a while. Not a good sign. Looks like there would be some activity for next week's shipments, assuming there will be some. Fingers crossed.
I surely feel your pain! But maybe a silver lining is if ScuffGate turns out to be a real problem for those who got Black. Well at least I put iOS6 on my IP4 so I can play around.
