And, just an FYI for anyone who is waiting for T&C email: I never got one and the chat rep verified that mine was already done. I am doing an existing customer upgrade, so not sure if that makes a difference.

Talk to live chat and ask them to tell you if there is a shipping date in the system for them or something like that...someone who ordered relatively early should do this to see if they say the 20th or whatever
 
I was awake on 3 am trying to pre-order my iPhone 5 with att and apple. Since apple was still not open I kept trying with att. Started smooth then it crapped out as soon as the rest of the world logged on lol. I kept trying until I gave up and went to bed. As soon as I laid down I thought about the apple store app and gave that a shot around 3:45 am. I was going thru the process and in 2 mins I pre-ordered my phone and got an order number with 9/21 delivery date. I was shocked how fast and smooth it went.

When I woke up and went to work at 8am I saw the delivery went to 2 weeks. I'm glad I stayed awake lol.

I got the White 16gb.

No ship date
Back-ordered
Tracking Number says: Pending Shipment

People need to chill! don't you guys remember how this all went last year and year before for the iphone 4 and 4s? I live in Puerto Rico and I've always preordered first day during the first hour they opened the store. I've always received my phone the day it comes out, this case the 21st, even though I've always been getting the email "Your item will ship in 14-21 days". So relax the order and tracking number won't change until probably tuesday or wednesday but you will get your phone the 21st, so just chill and be patient!


I ordered my black iphone 5 32GB at probably 9:10AM EST, got the email that my item will ship in 14 to 21 days and I know for sure I will be getting it the 21st, cause every year it's deja vu all over again :D

Not a lot of sprint users in this thread. Did anybody order through sprint and get a confirmation email? I haven't received a single email from them about the order.


That might be because it's the AT&T pre-order thread :)
 
I chatted yesterday with an agent that told me that orders placed before 12 pm Pacific time will ship by 09/21, now I just got the following info (again using the chat):

"Thank you for waiting, the expected ship date for your order is 9/20/12. You will receive an email with tracking information when your device ships."

I don't know if that will be enough time to reach me the following day or not.

I think that everybody should be able to know their expected ship date, just connect to the chat and ask the agent.

I just think people need to wait at least until wednesday night before starting to freak out, cause that's when you'll probably get you order changed and tracking number :D

99% of the customers will not get the T&C email. They already agreed to the T&C during the pre-order steps.

The email is only for phone orders or web orders that don't show the T&C as agreed. The T&C is required to start a new contract agreement.

Thats what I have too. I got a text from AT&T yesterday saying that my pre-order has been processed and that I will be notified when my order has been shipped. I never received any e-mail notifications though about order confirmation and T&C so I'm not sure if I still have to fill that out before my order ships.

Different agents seem to provide vastly different information. I can't even figure out how to get into chat. Any option vaguely related to order status tells me that chat is not available for that now. Is there another chat link, or are people just picking any option that gets them through?

YUP. All I see when I read through this thread is the blind leading the blind resulting in more people getting frustrated/stressed. I would give it until Monday for things to clear up and better information to come out.
 
FYI- last year I ordered through AT&T and they did NOT require a signature. It was on my porch when I got home from work.

im a UPS driver and we can leave it if we choose but your not supposed to and its on us if it gets stolen or the person says they didnt recieve it so 99 % of drivers wont leave it
 
I called AT&T about my order and the automated response told me that my iPhone is "backordered".

I Placed my order with a rep at 12:40 est.
 
well...

....between 611 and the premier order status number today, I've wasted a good three hours of my Saturday. And the end result is nothing has changed -- my order status still says Attention, with credit card verification needed. Premier rep that I FINALLY got on the phone couldn't do anything because their systems were down.

"Can you tell me why my credit card needs verification?" "No, our system for that is down."

"Can you re-enter my CC?" "No, our system is down."

"Can you tell me if I'll lose my spot in the order line, and when I'll get the iPhone 5?" "No, our system is down."

Now if the system is down, just tell me that right off the bat. Or better yet, put a recording to that effect up so I hear it immediately when I call. Why waste my time asking for order number, last four digits of SS#, billing address, etc. when there's nothing you can do with that info?

So aggravated. Have to call back tomorrow and try all over again. I'm such a moron for not simply ordering from apple.com, as I've done for every past iPhone.

Seems like live chat is like the customer care. I tried doing live chat. I asked about my order. Someone named Alexander looked it up. Said to expect an email shortly with my confirmation. When i asked how quickly? He stated he did not know. It could be today, sometime next week or whenever. But he wasnt sure. Also he said he could not give me a ship date. Other than to say it could take up to 2 to 3 weeks for me to get my phone through the mail. Basically he didnt know anything more than my order was in progress. But did not know anything else beyond that.

If you login to your account in att.com and then click into "My Orders" (which is under myAT&T) you will get a "chat now" button on the right hand side.
 
I spoke with an agent asking about my ship date and he said "all orders placed before 9am pacific time on the 14th will be delivered on the 21st" I asked if that was an official AT&T statement and he said yes, but who knows if he is truthful.
 
I ordered my black 64gb from an at&t store fri morning at about 9:20 central. My order say processing here's what the live chat guy just told me -

Jason: Thank you for waiting. I will be with you in just a moment.
me: ok
Jason: Ok, I see. Well, orders placed before 9am Pacific on 9/14/12 will ship by 9/21/12. Orders placed after this time will ship in 14-21 business days. So if you ordered it in that time frame, then more then likely, your order will be shipped on the 21st but these things are sometimes subject to change.
me: Ok well thanks for the help. About when should i expect the tracking number?
Jason: You will receive that on the day it ships out, which will be the 21st.
me: If it ships out on the 21st about how long will shipping be?
Jason: That, I do not know for sure but I would imagine not too long.

Jason: Then there is a large possibility of receiving the device on the 21st. This is an estimated timeframe.
