ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

lol i too put my alarm for 255am, i'm in nyc. also how are people even able to track the flight route? what website and what info do u need to do such a thing?

Use flight aware. If you have the time it departed say...Indianapolis, then check the indy airport on there for flight departures. If it's with Fedex then search for fedex flights leaving at that time, or UPS if your has shipped with UPS.

The time it left the city usually corresponds to the time that the flight actually departed.

I know. like I said it's a real ****** thing to say. I am just making an observation. Since I was not helpful before I will say this: if you have been charged then I would think it is shipping. That being said it may be shipping from China which means it will not be here tomorrow unless they happen to have some extra stock over and above what they anticipated. There were some stories about that happening to some people. I am just surpised they did not send those extra units two Apple stores to sell instead

yea, but the surprising thing is that there were soo many ppl that ordered much much later and still have tracking numbers and all. the only reason i waited was because this was an early upgrade override. my other one was done thru APPLE and shows out for delivery already

Listen, I am with you in one respect: I too got up in the middle of the night to order mine. That being said I think that it's a little rude to blame these people for not doing that since in the past you could order anytime before lunch on the preorder day and still get it on the launch day. That happened with the previous phones.
 
Where does it say delivery on October 5th?
The only one I have is stated on order confirmation which says congratulations your phone will arrive september 21st
I'm still back ordered though

Maybe you got lucky and there were a few cancellations ahead of you and now you're getting it sooner than expected. I think that's what happened with mine. I didn't get ordered until 7:15 am or so MST on Friday.
 
I didn't pay attention to order numbers or all that BS, but FWIW, I ordered mine at 10:45 EDT. Am getting it tomorrow.

I guess some of you feel that you may have gotten screwed since you ordered before

No, obviously I don't. That being said I have both the experience of having gone through multiple iPhone launch date orders since I have bought a new one every time since the 3G came out in 2008. I also have the knowledge i got as a result of doing a lot of reading about what has been happening this week since I don't really have a life.

It was either last year or the year before that my phone said backordered even on the morning of the launch day on AT&T's website but it still arrived so don't give up hope.

hmm my order went through somewhere around 4am that friday the 14th. it would be awesome if it did ship like tomorrow! but we will see. now i need to find a store that is selling the otterbox defender series iphone 5 case :)

I pick mine up at 9am from Bestbuy since I was the first one in the door.

My girlfriend ordered her's at 3:00am Eastern time from AT&T and was back ordered and I went with my brother to order his in-store, where we were 2nd in line and he was back ordered.

It's 2am here, I don't sleep until 4am-ish.

And your still coming off pretty doucey.

Yeah let's hope that it arrives tomorrow, but remember, if it ships out of China/Where-ever over the next couple days and doesn't deliver until early next week, that's still waaaaaaaay better than October. :)

Just to share some info, i ordered mine at around 11:20am est (nyc) with no intention of getting the iPhone soon and mine is shipping to me friday before 3pm. Have the tracking info and everything.

Please don't take this as an attempt to deflate your dreams but did Best Buy confirm they would have your phone? I only ask because there was another guy on the boards who said he was first in line to do a preorder at his Best Buy and he was told he would not be getting a phone tomorrow because Best Buy did not get any of the specific one he ordered.

That does seem encouraging then since that would be a very late order based on the supposed it cut off time. I wonder if possibly your choice of phone (black and 32 GB) is a factor there but it seems to me that your choice would be one of the most popular combinations so maybe not.

My dad was 3rd in line for Best Buy and he got an appointment to pick it up tomorrow. :D

That is good news. I think I would really be pissed if I had camped out for an hour or so to get in the preorder line and then been told sorry no phone. I remember when the original iPad came out I had pre-ordered one and got it on launch day but my mother-in-law wanted one so I went to the Apple Store because we had heard they were getting some in. I showed up at 7 AM at the mall when it first opened its doors and when I walked in they were probably over 100 people already in line who had come in through one of the other entrances. We all waited for almost an hour and then they came out and said "okay we have three of the 32 GB Wi-Fi models we have two of the 16 GB AT&T models" and then nothing else. major bummer. the weird thing is they opened an hour earlier than normal and had extra staff on hand that day all for five iPads.

I worked at my local BestBuy through college, preordered from the same store last time. Talked to my former manager yesterday and he said that he's getting eight 32GB black ones in. Didn't ask about the other ones.

He told me to be there at 9am, since he had to be there early to receive other product shipments including phones.

No dreams deflated...Edit: replied without looking, thought you were saud0488, no offence intended!

I mean its awesome but reading through this thread, theres no reason why i should be getting one where others stayed up so late to put their orders in only to get the dreaded backorder status.

In my opinion, waiting at Apple is such a drag because you're sort of not guaranteed one if you're not that dedicated because there's others campin' out a night before. I wish I didn't have to ride on AT&T's d**k.
