ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

sigh.

i just wish someone would explain to me what happened from ATTs side. I oredered an hour and 15 minutes after they went on sale. no transaction problems. 64gb black. and it went from delivers today to ships today to ships oct 4-15. i have no idea how this happens.

and there goes being able to sell my old phone for a larger sum.

but let me say that i will jump at the chance to sign a net neutrality suit against them.
 
Out for Delivery!!!

Finally received a tracking # from AT&T Wooo Hoooo!! My iPhone is on the FedEx truck for delivery sometime between now and 3pm o_O.:confused:

I really didn't think it would come today since I placed my order at 9:57am CDT on Friday. Looks like AT&T had access to more iPhones than I expected. Enjoy your new phones this weekend fellow iFriends!!! :D

I wouldn't push it! I'm in your boat (except I'm off back-order now) and there's no way I would risk the early upgrade option.

i hear ya. but my wife works next to an ATT store and she just stopped in to check for me and the guy said they had a ton! and nobody in line... makes me so angry to know if I had not pre-ordered with ATT i could be buying it right now.
 
Decided to walk into my AT&T store that I preordered from and they took me right away only to tell me that they haven't received their preordered iPhones yet! Right as a lady walked by me with a huge grin and a bag.
He said they'd call me when they get there.
How's that for frustrating?

I went and waited in line. There were about 20 people ahead of me. I waited because even if I didn't walk out with a phone today, I needed a new sim card for the temp phone I'm using. Long story short, they let me cancel my order in store and still use my early upgrade. I don't know if that's for all stores, but I would think so...
The kicker - Premier said my preorder cancel was unsuccessful! So now I'm on hold trying to find out what that means. 15 min so far on hold...

That "ton" should be goin to the ton of people upset right now.

"Pre-ordering" means something much different to AT&T.

20 people in line must be nothing compared to what other bigger stores deal with. How was it?

I preordered 2 iPhone 5 32GB at my local store, first one at 9:23am and the second one at 9:41am. The second one don't know where it is :confused:

That happened with 4 too. The inventory is different between preorders and in store stock. Oh well. It'll come.
 
Hey guys.. I've been reading your thread for a week now, I decided to finally jump in after my experience with AT&T. I first went A-Wall on AT&T Facebook page last night and 20 other customers joined in with comments against the company. I got an email from a "specialist" explaining he "understands my anger and will look into the order". I get an email minutes ago.

"Hello,

Thank you for the e-mail and I am sorry for the delay. We did research this inquiry and your order numbers. Unfortunately, we don't have a way to expedite this.

We regret to inform you that the delivery of your pre-order for iPhone5, originally scheduled for 09/21/12, will be delayed"

I can't take this so I called AT&T "CRS" and they tell me it is indeed processing, hasn't been shipped, 0% chance it'll be on a truck today or for the next month even though I ordered at 8am on 14th and paid extra to expedite shipping. He suggested that I wait it out for a few weeks. Are you KIDDING? Wait it out??? So, I call the local AT&T store. They have 10 in stock with a line out the door and plan to sell out in 15 minutes. When I called 611 the day of pre-orders, our lines weren't eligible. So AT&T pushed one of our lines upgrade date up and allowed at least one line to get in for $299. I asked them if I were to cancel today (which if your order is still processing, they said you can do and if you have an upgrade then you keep your upgrade today) because 611 moved my upgrade I would lose my upgrade and a store couldn't move mine up.

AT&T explained they are "amazed by so many orders and weren't honestly prepared for this". Wow. Good one guys. Good one.. So now I wait 4 weeks...

Im in Detroit. My tracking says my iphone is in Indy still. For over 24 hours. Why is this happening
 
UPS just delivered my wife's 32gb white phone (ordered through the Apple store at 3:25am EST), knocked on the door, and requested a signature. Not sure if they would have left it at the door, I should have asked.

My 64gb black is still backordered of course (ordered through AT&T at 3:15am EST).

Anyone still fighting for statement credits over this debacle? AT&T hasn't sent me a single email, nothing. If I wasn't checking up on this frequently I'd be happily expecting my phone to arrive today. At least I won't be surprised.
 
Love this phone. Got two black 32Gb phones form the store today.


On the way into the office this morning there was a fedex truck on a flatbed on I95 that was almost crumpled in half. If you live in South Florida and you don't get your iphone due to an accident your phone was prob destroyed.

This was a new line on my account. However, the 5 will be on my number and my 4S will be given to my son.
 
This is why I didnt preorder. The bastages had them at the local at&t store.

It was easy! I was a little suprised, but I live in a small town, so I thought I'd take my chances. I've never tried before; I used to live in Charlotte. There was no way I would've tried it there =) They only had 30 phones, I think. When she came out to tell us the rules, she wouldn't tell us then how many there were, but after about 8 people had gone in and checked out, she let us know "roughly" what she had left. 2 people left the line because there were only like 3 32g and they went quick.
So, hope is not lost for everyone!! I just got off the phone with AT&T and mine shows backordered, still. But Lo and behold, my phone is assigned to a carrier and will be assigned shipping today! Too bad I already have this one in hand. I have to try and call UPS or FedEx to cancel my order. That should be interesting.
 
My FedEx guy delivered my extra lightning cable yesterday, and was already complaining how much he had to work on Friday and Monday. What I thought was interesting, he said they are delivering the phones in waves, on Friday and Monday.
