To all of you that ordered after the cutoff on the 14th keep us posted as to your status. For example, I ordered a black 16GB and black 64GB at just after 6:00 p.m. on the 14th. I have no idea when I'll get mine but I am hoping that others that ordered late will post updates as they get shipment notifications.

I too have been following this thread but have yet to post... I'll jump in now. Ive been rocking the old 3GS forever... I couldn't justify upgrading to the 4 b/c I bought the 3GS a couple weeks before, didn't want the 4S, et., et.

Long story short, I really wanted the iphone5... my 3GS is on its last legs -I need a new phone! That being said, I wake up around 1:55am Central, 9/14, start the whole refreshing proces using AT&T online (not Premier -didn't know about premier until this thread), begin attempting to order right as presale starts, and finally get my i5, black, 64gb, order through at 2:49 Central Time, Confirmed for Delivery, 09/21, AT&T Online.

49mins after they went on sale, I was confirmed. Ive been w/ AT&T for 6-7 years, always paid account on time, good standing, paid for iphone using CC (not debit, as I was told not to use debit)... I did everything "right", or so I thought.

Order #1504*****. My friend orders hers literally 7 hours after me... guess what, she has her ****** phone (she used Premier)... mine is still on "back order", im being told by AT&T that my shipment was delayed. For what? I have no idea... again, account in good standing, bill was current, paid w/ my AMEX card... I even called AT&T earlier the day of presale to make sure my account was all "current" and asked them if I was eligible for upgrade, which they said I was and that my account looked good, blah blah blah.

I guess my point in going off on the above diatribe is that I feel wronged... I know many of you guys do too. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND they oversold the phone! BUT... why did they not honor "first come first serve"? My time is valuable, so is yours, so why did my friend get hers (the one who ordered 7 hours after me)?? That's what is so damn frustrating about this whole ordeal.

Who out there wants to cancel AT&T? Seriously, let's cancel. Verizon is a much better provider in my area anyway. Also, lets talk about conciliatory efforts made by AT&T for those of us who have been burned. Honestly, I think I deserve a free iphone! Has AT&T given significant account credit, free iphone, anything of significance? Anything other than a clueless CSR stating "Im sorry"?

As of 9:34am CST, 9/21, order #1504***, purchased 12:49am Pacific Time 09/14, still on back order, "pending shipment", no shipping date, my card has been charged.

Im livid with AT&T. Im always nice to the CSR on the phone, I know its not the CSR's fault... but I feel wronged by their bossman, AT&T! I know its just a phone, and who gives a HSIT, right? I wouldn't care, but I made the effort to have one on my doorstep today... my friend DID NOT, and she has hers.

My phone is on the truck for delivery as I knew it would be.

Still dont know why UPS sent it on a plane to louisville, only to have it sent right back to DFW and then on to my city at 6:15am. Didn't arrive in my city until 7:33am. Didn't leave the UPS depot on a truck until 8:45am.

Finally broke and decided to post - just trying to see if anyone has any thoughts, this thread is tough getting caught up with. First, thanks to all who are trying to figure this out in spite of ATT's incompetence.

I ordered around 9:30 on the 14th and my order date now says the 17th. I'm in the 1406 group. No emails or texts, stuck in backorder - 1 and shipment pending.

There are several of us stuck in that group, although mine isn't the 1406 group, but the infamous changing order date from the 14th to the 17th. Still in backorder. Called twice this morning. Both people told me my order is confirmed probably in a warehouse somewhere waiting for shipment. They said they didn't know when, no tracking number. Funny when I asked for a supervisor and waited for a long time, the same rep came back and said it was coming today- although she had no tracking number, or any other info. She just wanted to get me off the phone. Great At&T.
 
has anyone that ordered the white 16gb gotten a shipment?

according to AT&T mine is "assigned to a carrier to be shipped" but they can't tell me who with. I should be getting my tracking number later today. Then I just have to call whoever to refuse shipment. I would hate to know what I'd be charged it I kept the one I ordered online and the one I got in store! I paid the $199 in store; the same that I would've paid for the one waiting to be shipped.
 
For the people that don't get their phones today, are you going to cancel and try to go to AT&T/Apple store tomorrow morning?
 
ATT iPhone Preorder Mess

Dear Mr. Stephenson,
I’m writing to tell you my experience with AT&T recently. We recently made an online order with AT&T for the preorder of the iPhone 5. We tried to make an order at 1:15 AM MST September 14, 2012 and there was too much volume and AT&T’s servers went offline. We tried again and again and finally at 2:05 AM MST we had success. The website confirmed that we would receive an iPhone 5 and with in 30 minutes we received an email confirming we would receive the iPhone 5 on 21st. I received two other emails later on that explained how to contact AT&T using the phone and how to check to see your balances etc. I thought everything was fine and that I would receive my phone as promised on the 21st. I checked my AT&T account yesterday to check on the order status and it shows that the phone is processing. I looked online and checked the message boards to find that people that ordered the phone later than me had already received tracking for their phones. So I called AT&T customer care at 7:30 AM the first agent I talked with told me I would be receiving it today on the 21st as promised. Two Hours went by no tracking and I decided to check again and the second customer care agent told me that it had updated to being shipped 2-3 weeks but she then looked at the time I ordered the phone and said you ordered it early enough that you will get it tomorrow for sure. Well now I am hopeful but I’m starting to have some doubt that I’m going to get the phone tomorrow. Another hour went by and I decided I need to call one more time to make sure that I’m getting the phone. The third customer care agent told me that I would not be getting the phone until 4-10 of October. How could that be? I said I ordered earlier than customers on the message boards that have already received tracking. I was told that she knew that and mine had been back-ordered. I hung up told my wife the bad news and she told me to call back again. I called customer care a forth time only to find out my order had been processed and I would receive the phones Saturday or Monday at the latest. I said are you sure, she replied and said yes. I told my wife and we were both pretty excited we had sold our old phones and bought some cheap used iPhone 3’s that we were going to sale once we got our new phones. We are going to Disneyland October 1st and the new phones will be perfect to take pictures of our family trip. Now I decided that I would call customer care one more time just to make sure that we are indeed getting the phones. I called for the fifth and final time the customer care agent looked up the order and said the order had been processed and I should receive the new phones between October 4-10. I said are you sure I was just told the 22nd or the 24th of September. She said I’m sorry but that is the dates we have. Now I am pretty deflated and discouraged. She told me I should try to go to the store in the morning to try and get a phone. I decided I would go and try to get a phone at the retail store. I called the local AT&T store and asked if it would be possible for me to get two phones. They said one per customer. I decided I could not go and get a phone without getting one for my wife. We have an autistic daughter that my wife volunteers at her school and would not be able to stand in line with me at the AT&T store. So as of today I have not heard anything from AT&T and had I not called yesterday I would be under the impression I was getting phones today. Last year I preordered the iPhone 4S from AT&T and received the iPhone 4 and not the 4S as ordered. I’m wondering if my account number is doomed by your system or am I just that unlucky. I no you will never read this letter but it has helped me blow off some steam. We are still loyal customers that feel like we have been betrayed.

I haven't gotten my shipping info YET but AT&T told me that I should get it later today. I believe them; only because they're telling me I can't cancel it. ALthough, I was able to go in the store and get one...strange.

After getting screwed over by AT&T online store.. I got the phone from ATT store by standing outside for less than 1 hour. I was driving by and noticed the short line and just took my chances. time to cancel the other preorder.

Did you pay full retail price?

yeah, that's what I want to know. i talked to some reps and they said i couldn't cancel my preorder and i would have to pay full price at the store if i just went in a bought one...
 
GREAT! I called to cancel my fake pre-order and they tell me it can't be done. I wanna buy it in the store so I can handle my own issues and not leave it up AT&T to F U C K UP!!!!! So I am stuck with something I don't want, my old broken phone, and forced to sit and wait until they decide to ship it. I did get a $25 credit though, which pales in comparison to the frustration of doing what I am supposed to on my part but watching them mess up a seemingly simple thing. Lesson learned. :mad:

They can cancel it in the store as long as it has not shipped. The Manager can override the system. If it is still in Pending status, then you are good to go. They did this for both me and the guy behind me in line this morning.
 
finally on its way!

Hey guys, I ordered last friday at 9:00am EST and was getting the Oct.5 ship date. My account was charged at 5:00pm last night, an hour later my order went to "preparing for shipment", woke up this morning at 7:30 and had an email saying your iPhone has shipped. I have a tracking number but no other details on it right now, nor ship date. Hope more people are getting this!!!!! :cool:

just got off the phone after 45 min with att. So they do not honor the first come first serve and it is all messed up. I was told it will ship october 4th now even though I placed my order at 3:06 am eastern time literally as the site opened. My order begins with 140. After winding my way to a manager they were nice and understood the frustration and could not tell me why. She said she would be pissed as well and refunded both activation fees and gave a 50$ credit to the account. Again it is not that I will not get the phone it is the run around I was given all week calling to confirm everything was good and that people who ordered from ATT hours after me are getting their phones today. Just really shady business practices and I am furious and a bit let down at what kind of companies are out there now adays. Anyways congrats to people who are getting their phone today, please anyone who isnt and is in the same boat of being an early orderer and getting screwed out of getting their phone on time please post what ATT did for you so that we may all get the same level of compensation. I ordered the black 16gb at around 9am Friday sept 14. From AT&T upgrade option

It is on the FedEx truck for delivery and trying to figure out if they will leave it or require signature,

Tracking says standard overnight- does not say anything about signature or delivery confirmation...
 
anyone else that was eligible for early upgrade (+$250) try canceling their order and going to ATT store? I'm still back ordered but the ATT store down the street has them in stock.

I just dont want to lose my early upgrade eligibility if I cancel.

I just tried, they told me they couldn't do anything about it.
 
I ordered 9/14 at 7:13am central time. Got an email saying i would get it the 21st. I'm in backordered hell like many of you. I've called all week, including last night and they told me up to 20 business days.

Anyway, I went to the Apple Store 45 minutes ago, which was an hour after they opened. Short line and they had TONS of phones. I got all set up and have my new phone.

Tried to cancel my pre-order and they said I can't. Told me to just return it when it comes.

Will never pre-order again.
 
As I wrote before I cancelled my order and went to apple store yesterday at 10pm, today at 8am I had the first sold iPhone in Tulsa Oklahoma!!!!!!!!!

IT IS AMAZING
 
I ordered at 3:20 AM EST from AT&T. Mine says backordered 1, no shopping details. I called the CSR today and he said he didn't matter what time you placed the order. They didn't actually process it until 2 PM, so it won't ship for another 14-21 days. First come, first serve?
