I just tried, they told me they couldn't do anything about it.

seriously? they told me yesterday i could cancel my order but i decided not to in the off chance that i would get delivery confirmation today.

but i woke up with my order still back-ordered.

1406 - i'm going to get that number tattoo'd on my arm after this ********* ordeal.
 
They can cancel it in the store as long as it has not shipped. The Manager can override the system. If it is still in Pending status, then you are good to go. They did this for both me and the guy behind me in line this morning.

They did this for me. But be careful! I thought my order was cancelled, only to come home and find out it wasn't. I talked to AT&T who told me they can't cancel it now because it is assigned to be shipped. Whatever! I'll deal with that nightmare when it gets here.
 
I have my new 32GB black iPhone5 in my hands!!!

I have enjoyed reading this thread for the last several days. I was in the complete dark with my iPhone5 as my "AT&T Authorized Retailer" (not a corporate owned store) did not have access to any confirmation numbers, tracking, or any type data for me to follow. The AT&T on-line site did not even have a record of my order.

But they pulled though!

Last night they called saying they will be opening the doors early at 8am (MST) to allow us pre-order folk in.

I was customer #1!

It's awesome!

OMG!! Just got shipping email from FedEx! It gets here by tomorrow!! AT&T site still says "Processing" but FedEx said it's on its way.. What??
 
for anyone that is trying to find their tracking info on fedex that doesn't have a tracking number yet.
my reference number is NOT my cell number or my order number, just a random number
 
I too have been following this thread but have yet to post... I'll jump in now. Ive been rocking the old 3GS forever... I couldn't justify upgrading to the 4 b/c I bought the 3GS a couple weeks before, didn't want the 4S, et., et.

Long story short, I really wanted the iphone5... my 3GS is on its last legs -I need a new phone! That being said, I wake up around 1:55am Central, 9/14, start the whole refreshing proces using AT&T online (not Premier -didn't know about premier until this thread), begin attempting to order right as presale starts, and finally get my i5, black, 64gb, order through at 2:49 Central Time, Confirmed for Delivery, 09/21, AT&T Online.

49mins after they went on sale, I was confirmed. Ive been w/ AT&T for 6-7 years, always paid account on time, good standing, paid for iphone using CC (not debit, as I was told not to use debit)... I did everything "right", or so I thought.

Order #1504*****. My friend orders hers literally 7 hours after me... guess what, she has her ****** phone (she used Premier)... mine is still on "back order", im being told by AT&T that my shipment was delayed. For what? I have no idea... again, account in good standing, bill was current, paid w/ my AMEX card... I even called AT&T earlier the day of presale to make sure my account was all "current" and asked them if I was eligible for upgrade, which they said I was and that my account looked good, blah blah blah.

I guess my point in going off on the above diatribe is that I feel wronged... I know many of you guys do too. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND they oversold the phone! BUT... why did they not honor "first come first serve"? My time is valuable, so is yours, so why did my friend get hers (the one who ordered 7 hours after me)?? That's what is so damn frustrating about this whole ordeal.

Who out there wants to cancel AT&T? Seriously, let's cancel. Verizon is a much better provider in my area anyway. Also, lets talk about conciliatory efforts made by AT&T for those of us who have been burned. Honestly, I think I deserve a free iphone! Has AT&T given significant account credit, free iphone, anything of significance? Anything other than a clueless CSR stating "Im sorry"?

As of 9:34am CST, 9/21, order #1504***, purchased 12:49am Pacific Time 09/14, still on back order, "pending shipment", no shipping date, my card has been charged.

Im livid with AT&T. Im always nice to the CSR on the phone, I know its not the CSR's fault... but I feel wronged by their bossman, AT&T! I know its just a phone, and who gives a HSIT, right? I wouldn't care, but I made the effort to have one on my doorstep today... my friend DID NOT, and she has hers.

This is me. Long time customer. Similar order time. I wonder...is AT&T messing with people with old contracts? I have a great minutes plan and unlimited data...do you think they are TRYING to get rid of us?

I LOVE ATT.....my iPhone 5 is on a truck now coming to me :)

I just spoke to a customer service rep on the phone and she told me since the system screwed up my order if I was to goto an AT&T store and if they have the phones they will do a reverse upgrade for me and I can buy the phones I need in the store and they will cancel my pre orders. Looks like I got a mission today after work!

I ordered at 3:20 AM EST from AT&T. Mine says backordered 1, no shopping details. I called the CSR today and he said he didn't matter what time you placed the order. They didn't actually process it until 2 PM, so it won't ship for another 14-21 days. First come, first serve?

The CSR lied to you. I ordered at the store at 9:03 EST and got an email 21 minutes later saying 14 to 21 days.

I'm exactly where you are - story is exaclty the same. ordered at about the same time , black 64 gb and 1504xxxxx. nothing. no updates. I'm wondering if it's something to do with the 64 gb version. maybe they didn't get a lot.

the lack of the first come first serve is the only part that bothers me too.
 
4:34pm EST 9/14 white 16gb. My order was routed through premier, so my order date with AT&T shows as 9/16. Also, when I check my contract date online, it shows as 9/16.



weird, i ordered at 3 est and mine also says the 9/16.

did you ship through ups or fedex?
 
False Alarm.. Called FedEx.. they said it is an iPhone order but not mine, it's another order with my name mistakenly attached. Let the Riots begin.
