This is a sick joke. I think my package is lost. Its been at the FedEx sorting center in Indy for over 36 hours according to tracking. Anyone have any idea who to call? ITs an AT&T 32 GB black

Nothing against "rainbow flag fans" but why single yourself out. That would be like a mexican or asian asking for mexicans or asians to send pics of their new iphone 5's.

As slow as the statuses having updating, I wouldn't worry about it right now.

The packages don't always scan properly. I've had a bunch of packages that had an "origin scan' and a delivery scan with nothing in between
 
I ordered at 3:20 AM EST from AT&T. Mine says backordered 1, no shipping details. I called the CSR today and he said he didn't matter what time you placed the order. They didn't actually process it until 2 PM, so it won't ship for another 14-21 days. First come, first serve?

I ended up just driving to the Apple store at 11:30 AM EST this morning. They still had plenty of stock. Called AT&T and cancelled both orders and they reset the upgrade status. Walked into store and purchased. Very annoying but ended well.
 
I went to a local AT&T store at 12pm and explained my situation with the back order mess despite ordering at 3:15am. I was a 1406 order. The rep called CSR for me, cancelled my preorder and I walked out with a fully discounted black 64gb in less than 1 hr.

Apparently I wasn't the only one that came in with the same problem.
 
This is me. Long time customer. Similar order time. I wonder...is AT&T messing with people with old contracts? I have a great minutes plan and unlimited data...do you think they are TRYING to get rid of us?

Good point... one has to wonder? I have "A List", lots of rollover minutes accumulated, unlimited data, et.

Most of us have these things called "jobs", so standing in line at a store today wasn't an option. In a sense, we were first in line by pre-ordering. I guess my point in noting the above is , why was ANYONE who waited in line, in store, today, able to buy a phone? I think the people who in-store preordered should get them, but if ATT oversold their supply, not a single phone should have been available to anyone in store. Just my humble opinion. Again, I had my order confirmed 49mins after they went on sale... I think many of us who preordered right away have been, in a sense, waiting in line since early A.M. on the 14th. I went to a couple stores nearby on my lunch break and one of them still had a white, 32gb phone available. I would have taken it, but why pay so much $$ for something I don't want.

This is ridiculous. Part of me says "oh well", but the other part of me is mad b/c I was tired all day Friday (after getting up at 2amCT to preorder), and all the nonsense Ive heard from ATT customer service.

Life could be worse I suppose. To quote the rather comical Louis CK, "white people problems".
 
Man, I have to wait an entire 12 Minutes for my backup to get transferred to the iPhone 5. Anyone else experiencing these backup delays?

I hope so. This makes me feel better. I am gonna lose it if they lost it though. I ordered at 3:02 AM EST and really do not wanna wait two weeks to get it. Hopefully it comes today I guess
 
Well I guess it worked out in the end, ordered at 7am central time last Friday, didn't ship by today, called ATT said it would arrive between Oct 4 and
18th. On a whim stopped by our local ATT store and they still had plenty of white models and 64gb black models. Took almost an hour to get my pre-order canceled, lady on phone was adament that it couldn't be done. I said have you spoke with you manager, 10 mins later, done and upgrade restored.
So if you find one at a store and haven't got your pre-order yet, be firm but polite and they should be able to cancel it and restore the upgrade. Don't let them tell you it can't be done. Hope this helps someone. Passing on the good Karma! :)

So has anyone received theirs who didn't have any tracking number?

Yeah I stayed up until 4 this morning waiting for a tracking number but never got one. The site had been saying pending shipment and in progress since last friday. Went to bed expecting to not receive my phone today. I woke up this morning at 9, checked the order status site, had a tracking number, and it was already out for delivery to me.

Not necessarily. I spoke to one guy who ordered the following Saturday--well after the pre-order launch--and he is receiving his today! How's that for crazy? I ordered by 11:30AM, CST, 9/14...and my phone is backordered. Total horsesh*t.
 
did anyone buying through premier have the option for insurance or anything? or can you not get it this time, or something?

I decided earlier this week (have to prep this right, ya know?) that I would set mine up as a new phone and sync apps back over in batches. I usually keep too many on mine so this way it'll start out fresh with no app data or text message cobwebs.

In my box, with the new phone, was a flyer for purchasing AT&T Mobile Insurance $6.99/month. You have 30 days from date of activation or equipment upgrade to enroll.

Snagged it at ATT store

Ordered 32gb at full retail ($749) last Friday at 7am EST, hours before other family members did. I paid full retail because I'd already used my upgrade pricing with my Apple order, which is scheduled for 10/5 delivery. Didn't think anything of my order after receiving two emails confirming that it was received, would be delivered 9/21, and had been sent to warehouse for fulfillment. Then I read the issues here, checked my order status, saw the dreaded backorder 1. Called ATT on Wednesday, concerned that I had not received any info and it was saying backordered. The woman with whom I spoke assured me it would be here today, that the system was behind processing orders. She said, "You will receive it on the 21st." Checked order status again before bed last night and this morning. Nada. Called this morning, and the woman on the phone apologized profusely and said my phone would definitely not be received today, and I was looking at the earliest delivery of October 4th. We went back and forth on the phone, and I was really nice to her since it's not her fault, but expressed my frustration about the communication channel. After all, it's only a phone, but I'm frustrated that ATT has been involved in this since 2007 and can't seem to get it right.

At 10:45 this morning, I asked my wife if she could swing by the local ATT store to see if they have any - she got THE LAST ONE. 16gb white, which was fine by me because that's what she wants anyway. SO I get this one until mine come The only hiccup is that they told her she could not purchase it at full retail, that she needed to use her early upgrade at a cost of $250. Wasn't much we could do since I wanted the phone, so she paid it, but really frustrating since I did not believe that to be true.

My original plan was to pay full price for the one received today, then sell the new one I receive from Apple on Oct 5th on eBay, and be even (or ahead). My wife's full upgrade eligibility is December, so we were planning to order hers then. Think I'll put a call/letter into ATT asking them to credit back that $250 early upgrade fee on her account because of how this whole thing was handled.


I'm glad I got one, I was lucky, but man, what a process.
