LOL I went to the Athens Ga store and the 64 black was the only phone they had left.

Preordered in the store at 9:15 a EST. Ordered a 32G white and. 16G black. Both were in back-order until this morning and said "In Processing" FINALLY, just now, the 32G white is showing a tracking and deliver for Monday. Nothing yet for the black (mine

How do I open the back???? It says:
Follow the instructions below to locate your smart chip's (SIM card) ICCID number.
Remove the battery cover from the back of your device.
Remove the battery.
Carefully remove the smart chip.
On the front of the smart chip you should see a 20 digit number. This is the smart chip (ICCID) number.
I don't know how to remove the battery cover!!! DUH

Thanks for the pics. I'm excited to get a case now. Then the final step is to get applecare. I have heard that they only give you 30 days to get it now.

I'm not saying it's the reason for everyones disaster experience but apparently that's the reason for mine. I added a line to get it for $199 and the credit check was queued and wasn't done till 2pm.

My theory is they don't require a signature because that would slow them down from dropping the box at your door and then literally running back to their truck. lol
I rebooted my new phone and it showed service after activating online. Until it rebooted, it acted exactly like yours..just sat there.
Basically the same story here. Backorder limbo for a week. Complete BS story from the AT&T Reps. Guaranteed for 9/21 etc. Finally last night, "sorry it will be 2 or 3 weeks!!" Canceled my order, walked into the Apple store at noon today. They have loads of stock! Hundreds of iPhones of all kinds. 20 minutes later I have my new iPhone 5. Preording was a complete and total waste of time. I didn't have to be, but the temporary hires disguised as CSR's simply read the same old tired script. They have no real information and no power to do anything anyway.
Alls well that ends well.

Activated online. My iPhone4 went to No Service almost immediately and it's been about 2 hours or so and my iPhone 5 still shows No Service. I guess it takes a while to activate over 2 million phones.Bayamon and got a text message from AT&T that my iPhone was waiting for me at the store at 1:47pm
The woman rep that took my preorder last friday was there and as soon as she saw me she said: "your iPhone is here" then later told me mine was the only one they received from the preorders. All the others rep got around me and told me I was lucky to have received mine today. They received 32 iPhone's to sell and all of them were gone after 1 hour of them opening.Im beginning to think Fedex has the same software as AT&T for their status updates.
According to Fedex, It took them 16 minutes to get from Ft. Worth to Memphis
Then my order showed it was at the sort facility until 9am, at 9am, I checked the status again, and it was on the truck since 7:26 am.
I had a scheduled delivery by 3pm. Now it's before 8pm!

I normally don't comment on the Forums much, but I am so exasperated and angry that I need to vent.
Ordered about 7 hours past opening last Friday morning from the Att site, was assured that my delivery will come on the 21st, got TWO emails confirming everything, including the second saying "We have processed your order and it has been sent to our warehouse for shipment. Your order cannot be changed or canceled at this time."
The result? My status is now "pending." I was on the phone for an hour yesterday with two AT&T reps, and while I feel somewhat sorry for them because they're stuck on the wrong end of numerous customers' rage, I lost my temper. Att has NO IDEA what has happened to my order, just that it's not shipping any time soon. I pleaded with them to let me speak to a supervisor, but "no one is available" is what I got.
I'm so furious with this horrendous company, which I was giving a second chance to despite my earlier terrible experiences, that I am now thinking of forgetting about the whole thing and just sticking with my old iPhone and going with T-Mobile prepaid.

They are making deliveries all day. Don't you worry!! In the mean time go and pick out a case.
