Black 16gb model; part of the 1910 group; still showing backordered.

Today I called AT&T for a change of pace. Spoke to a really nice gentleman whom seemed genuinely sincere in his apologies about this snafu. While he did indicate the usual 14-21 day period, I asked if this began with the 9/14 date...and he said yes! He went on to tell me that I could have it by 9/28, which makes perfect sense given that would be two weeks. It also jives because another poster this morning indicated that he had a buddy who received an e-mail confirming he'd be receiving his phone by next Wednesday (9/26). So, hope has returned.:)

It's probably all the phones opening up from people canceling their pre-orders.

I completed my preorder on Sep14 @ 4:45am EST for a 64gb Black iPhone 5.
As of now, my AT&T is still showing my order at:
processing/pending shipment /backordered/whatever

This is after calling them day after day to find out wtf is going on.
I've been:

1) told I should receive my phone on time for ordering before the 9am cutoff.
2) told that I missed the cutoff, and AT&T doesn't know when they ship my phone
3) told that i have no idea what my place in the order line is (despite ordering at 4:45am EST), and that I cannot make any claim to AT&T being late with my order.
4) told that Sep21 delivery is only suggested. Apparantly, i didnt read the fine print when ordering.
5) my phone will ship Sep21
6) my phone will ship no earlier than Oct4-15
7) shipping my phone can take 14-21 business days
8) I dont need to accept terms and conditions
9) my phone is backordered because I did not accept the terms and conditions
10) hung up on by a nasty condescending manager
11) told that iPhone5 phone upgrade orders have priority over new line orders
12) told my phone is scheduled to ship "tonight" (on Sep20)

A nice rep did some digging for me and found that because I "added a line", which didn't process till 2pm(!), that I missed the 9am cutoff point.

I was so furious, I threatened to leave AT&T. I got a manager to credit my account for $90 (1 month), on top of the $36 activation-fee i got waived before. I told him I would only accept the $90 compensation if he admitted to me that AT&T screwed up. He apologized very politically about it (which is an apology in an unapologetic tone), and I was just so meh at that point, so I accepted.

I honestly still feel cheated only because AT&T won't be straight with us.
I can understand the logistical nightmare, especially for AT&T. But no other serious company today repeatedly lies so badly to its customers all the time, if not downright brush them off.

I encourage you all to teach this company a lesson. I doubt I or many others will stay with them in the long run. Especially now that Verizon iPhones come unlocked, and AT&T is still nasty about this too with its loyal customers!

Emo much?

To all the people that are still backordered. Seriously consider canceling the pre-order and going to the Apple Store to pick one up. Especially if you are looking for the 16GB. All four Apple Stores here in Atlanta had stock as of 5:30 PM.

I ordered a black 16gb online via ATT Premier on 9/14 @ 11:30am eastern (new second line). I received an email immediately confirming my order. Of course it said, "If you ordered an iPhone 5, your device will ship in approximately 14 - 21 business days." My back account had two $1 pre authorizations. It also included a 'Premier' tracking link.

My regular ATT account access showed no signs of my order. I didn't see my order on ATT regular site until the 9/16, which coincided with my bank account being preauthorized for the full amount Unfortunately, the ATT order status said my order date was 9/16. I was like WTF!!??

On 9/19 I received another email stating, "Thank you for your recent purchase from the AT&T Premier Online Store...blah blah...We wanted to confirm that your order is reserved and will ship in approximately 14 ? 21 business days...blah blah".

The whole time my order was in backorder up until a little after 12am eastern on 9/20. I had hope about getting a shipment today, but that was no go. My order status just went to shipped and tracking number about 40 minutes ago with an estimated delivery date of 9/24 by 3pm.

Just went off Backorder

I ordered Friday morning from an ATT store at 9:03am. 64GB White. Status just changed form 1 to 0 in backorder. Still 0 in shipped, but progress is progress.

How does this work if the phone you pre-ordered was part of your adding a line to a mobile share plan? And, I thought most people were told they couldn't cancel once AT&T show the phone as waiting to be matched with a tracking number? And, if you were luck to cancel, it would take 72 hours for it to take effect? Seems like they've got you no matter which way you try to exit the building.

If only we could. I even wish that we could order directly from Apple.com and receive it here but that we can't do. Well, we can order anything from their website, but need someone in the States to receive the shipment and then send it back to us.

i walked by the PA shop this afternoon and they had 4 people waiting outside. i went into the store, signed on to my apple account and cancelled my order. i had to call att to get them to give me eligibility back--which they did. (rather than wait the 72 hours--15 min to call) then bought the phone in the shop. way better than waiting until Oct 5th.

how long is the turnaround between going from 1>0 on backorder and getting your shipment and tracking info?

even though this has been a sort of stressful ordeal with ATT, i must say I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of this community and all of the people involved

will be a normal poster on Macrumors.com for a long time to come

Ordered mine on the 14th at 10 A.M. Eastern Time. Ordered 3 of them. All 3 are showing "Processing" and that's it. Is anyone else having this same problem? It doesn't say it's backordered or anything like that just "Processing". Does this mean I'm screwed?

I just don't understand why I even preordered it when I could have easily just went and bought one today like a few of my friends did. Why are we getting punished for being smart? I am so angry right now it's not even funny.

Considering leaving AT&T.

How exactly do I go about canceling my order? If I can go buy one tomorrow and cancel my order I would love to do that. My current phone is a piece of junk and I'm just tired of it.

Any help anyone?

Not sure how it works if you were adding a line but since I was just upgrading I was able to easily call up and cancel the pre-order. The 72 hours is a complete lie. They can reset the eligibility immediately over the phone.

Mine said "in progress" all week since last Friday. I cancelled this afternoon, walked into the Apple store and walked out with a phone.

6:42PM here in Austin, TX. No sign of UPS

7:47 PM here in Atlanta and my UPS package from Newegg.com (not an iPhone) hasn't been delivered. I think they are out late because of all the deliveries.

I guess im the only one here who ordered on 9/15 LOL.

Still obviously on back order, :p

Black, 32gb.

I actually called AT&T , both the stores in my area and they still had ALL THE VERSIONS in stock ( 32gb were white though ), but the 32gb's were going fast and their was a line waiting for them to get their. So basically im gonna be waiting for it to get to me.

Im not a good waiter, but I can hold out :p

By the way for other users who used their spouse's upgrade to get the phone... you definitely need to take it to ATT to replace the sims out. I was able to keep my unlimited data plan in tact as well.

It's almost like I didn't order this effing thing to them. Their attitude is "You'll get it when you get it. It's your problem."

When I called the store they had a 64 GB black and asked them for it and they said they couldn't do overrides until October 1st.

I am livid with AT&T.

I do have to say that you should call your local store and ask if they have stock.

I ordered my brother's and my phone on AT&T's site during the pre-order (apparently very late) at about 5PM Chicago time on 9/14. The credit card used didn't match the primary account holder's (Dad) name (I used my CC) so it was declined so I had to call and get it straightened out Wednesday. From the looks on this forum I figured we'd be getting ours way after the 21st.

I considered getting in line this morning to give it the ole college try, but overslept.
At about 3PM I called the Apple Store in Oakbrook IL just for the heck of it and they said they still had stock, but it was 1st come 1st served. Got there at about 4PM and found out that for AT&T they only had 16GB in W or B, no 32 or 64GB. I ordered a 64GB and my brother ordered a W 16 so I decided to be nice and get my brother's phone. Called the AT&T premier line and with a 20 minute wait, the rep was able to cancel his pre-order and restore his upgrade eligibility in 5 minutes. After that, the process in the Apple Store ran smoothly.

I'll probably wait for mine to come in the mail. I'm not in that big of a rush, but I'm glad someone in the house was able to get one. However, since it looks like a lot of people were doing what I did, I might get mine a lot sooner.

Insider iPhone 5 stock tip!!!

Anyone live around wheeling, wv the wheeling store will have 10 black 32, 10 black 64 available at 9:00 am tomorrow

I completed my preorder on Sep14 @ 4:45am EST for a 64gb Black iPhone 5.
As of now, my AT&T is still showing my order at:
processing/pending shipment /backordered/whatever

So, calling AT&T day after day has resulted in these answers:

1) told I should receive my phone on time for ordering before the 9am cutoff.
2) told that I missed the cutoff, and AT&T doesn't know when they ship my phone
3) told that i have no idea what my place in the order line is (despite ordering at 4:45am EST), and that I cannot make any claim to AT&T being late with my order.
4) told that Sep21 delivery is only suggested. Apparantly, i didnt read the fine print when ordering.
5) told my phone will ship Sep21
6) told my phone will ship no earlier than Oct4-15
7) told shipping my phone can take 14-21 business days
8) told I dont need to accept terms and conditions
9) told my phone is backordered because I did not accept the terms and conditions
10) told that iPhone5 "phone upgrade"-orders have priority over "new line"-orders
11) told my phone is scheduled to ship "tonight" (on Sep20)
12) was hung up on by a nasty condescending manager

Oh yeah, I told AT&T that I see many many people even on at&t's own customer forum saying that they received tracking numbers for orders they placed after 9am.

2 mangers and 1 rep all told me flat out that everyone is lying.

North Jersey all gone...

I have a Pre-order from At&t, and I ordered in store early on 9/14, and still
Stuck on back order and in process....I checked all stores in my area and apple in Paramus NJ, and they where sold out everything black, except 16& 32 white.
My preorder is 64gb black!

I'm gonna take a dump in my iPhone box when I get it eventually (still back ordered) and send it back to AT&T like so, minus the iPhone.
