Did you go to the Apple store? I went to the one in my area and they still had lots of phones left. I bought a second 64 gig white for my brother at around 3 PM from the apple store (his preorder got jacked too and he was stuck at work all day). AT&T has become really good at upgrade reversals and cancellations because of this lol. The upgrade was available immediately on my second order as well.

Just do a cancellation and upgrade reversal over the phone or in live chat and head to the store. Make sure they do the upgrade reversal sometimes they just cancel and you have to remind them to do the reversal.


Sold out everywhere in south jersey area.
 
Was able to walk in and buy iPhone 5 at AT&T without preordering. This was at the Oakland AT&T on lakeshore
 
I just spoke to a rep who also gave me this info. Whether this is true or not, I still call AT&T out on their BS. How did they not know they'd need a certain amount of SIM cards to match the total amount of inventory? They're AT&T, the seventh largest company in the United States. How did they not plan accordingly? At this point, it's just excuses after excuses after excuses.

1406 order here, place at 3:06am est on the 14th. So I talked again to a rep from att and was told that the phones are not the issue but the number of SIM cards they have. That they have the phones but are not able to send out because there were not enough SIM cards to match and they should get them and ship very soon for delivery date of 10/4 at the latest.
 
So if I've still got one on preorder, and I do the online check for upgrade eligibility and it comes back that I can get one for the subsidized price, what does that mean? I can just walk in the store and pick one up without first having to go through the hassle of trying to cancel the original order?
 
Did anyone who GOT their iPhone still not get charged on their CC? I had a pending charge a few days ago, and it went away yesterday, I received my phone today but still nothing. I am a poor medical student and would really appreciate if they actually took the money out so I don't forget and overspend.

Did this happen to anyone else?

No charge yet here either. I agree that they shouldn't wait and need to go ahead and get their money
 
how long is the turnaround between going from 1>0 on backorder and getting your shipment and tracking info?

even though this has been a sort of stressful ordeal with ATT, i must say I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of this community and all of the people involved

will be a normal poster on Macrumors.com for a long time to come

Not sure if anyone's answered but my turn-around was fast!

This morning I woke up to 0 back-order and by the time I got off work I was tracking.

It's incredible that ATT can get away with this!

I called ATT on the 14th at 1am since their website was down. I was told I could call back at 7am and I'd still get it on the 21st (Today). The rep that helped me, Vanessa, was soooo sure of this- that she even promised to call me back later in the day to confirm that my order was being processed.
Well.....I called ATT at 730am on 9/14. I got connected at about 8am. The guy took my money and told me flat out "Expect your phone delivered on 9/21, in the morning because you called early enough"!! OKAY!!!
Then, once I accepted the terms via email, I got a call from VAnessa, the original rep!! She said she saw my order, she said she could see that I'd be getting the phone on Fri (9/21) and she wanted to make sure I was satisfied!
And what happens today?>.......NOTHING!! NO IPHONE 5!! What the hell was the point of "Pre ORdering" if people simply walked into stores today and bought them!! and I didnt get mine!!
NOw I"m being told that it will ship 14-21 Days, (10/4-10/15)...WHAT???
I tried maintaining my cool with the supervisor on the phone and it did get me $100 off my current bill for the trouble, but I would give the $100 back if I could have my phone today!!
I was guaranteed that I'd have it today. They called me back to confirm it was being processed!! And still no phone. Apple should do something! This is f'd up! I want what I paid for and I want it when it was promised! What the hell is wrong with that??

For the umpteenth time, I've checked my order online to see if any changes showed after speaking with someone @ AT&T who said I would likely receive my phone next week. No changes. Nada; zilch. And I'm tired of the nonsense.

I'm so angry right now I could piss rivers of red hot lava in the lobby of AT&T headquarters! :mad::mad::mad:
 
FedEx apparently is requiring a signature for my phone and would not leave it at my building. Does anyone know if I can pick it up at the FedEx hub later tonight when it gets back? If so, anyone know where the one in Brooklyn, NY is located and how late they're open?

Typically if you want to pick up your phone at a hub you have to go to your tracking page on the FedEX website and choose the option to have it held. I also think it's customary that you have to wait 24 hours before you can pick it up. (they don't always unload the trucks right away)
 
Verizon rocks

Im so glad I switched to Verizon and cancelled AT&T .I just found out Verizon I phone 5 are unlocked even with contract.I travel a lot so I can buy prepaid sims and use my I phone . What the hell you can even stick At&t or t mobile sim if you wish.
Thanks AT&T you gave me 2 new Unlocked Verizon iPhone 5s without your bad customer service this would never happened. Thanks again :)
 
I ordered my phone threw premier and they had a problem with my address because I live in New Mexico with a Bay Area area code, so they halted the order a

Really? Maybe that is what REALLY happened to my order... placed order within 3 hours of sales opened... got carpet bombed by premier to call them saturday... i talked to 2 CSRs on Sunday (since they emailed after their hours.. lovely 6 hours) ... they said my creditcard was declined... i verifed everything with them, all the numbers and address were correct.. they ran it again, checked out... and was told FOR A FACT it would arrive today... yup.. didn't.. never even got a web order... didnt want to pester them... thought it was going to be one of those it gets shipped out even though the system doesnt say it things (although I never got a weborder to see all this back-order / wathever stuff everyone else did).

well if you dont want LTE anyhow... pretty sure the verizon product doesnt support ATT's LTE band

If they had not left it you be on here b*tching and moaning that you did not get it even though the FedEx guy came by your house! No wonder so many other countries hate America. We are a bunch of whining ******s.
 
I see what I said yesterday came true for so many of you. No tracking last night and you are all wanting to burn down at&t's headquarters and today you got your phone as promised. Not all of you, but out of the millions of phones a very insignificant number of you (who were originally promised one on launch day).

Boy this place has quieted down. Where's my backorder gang at!!!

We are exhausted, exasperated, and disheartened. ATT has managed to suck ALL of the joy out of what should have been a fun and enjoyable experience, and we all feel used, and abused by our own carrier, who has handled this abysmally.
