I believe the 'X' as the first character, means it was an in-store (retail) order. The 'B' and the next 3 characters reference the store#. Check your receipt.

My order # starts w/ XM and its still on backorder. I ordered mine at 11:30am on 9/14 at an local AT&T store...
Sorry. Mine is still showing backordered. I ordered in-store on 9/14, 10:38 am pdt, in CA. Status has never changed since placing order and have received a different response from each of 3 at&t CSRs. Responses spanning from a 9/21 delivery, to 10 to 21 days. No credit issues and order date still reflects 9/14. Upgrade order to a 32gb black iphone 5

Just some information on my status for those of us who are still waiting for our baby to arrive. I pre-ordered my 16g white at a local AT&T store last Friday at 12:50 pm. I was told as I was purchasing that it would be here this Friday. But after the transaction was completed I was told that it would be possible that it could take 7-21 days and it depended on the apple supply. Anyways my order starts with the x and also 4773 in the numbers. About an hour ago my phone is no longer on the back order status. Although there is no shipping info yet at least it's progress. Can anyone tell me how long it took from taken out of back order to when the shipping info was available?
I'm dying over here!!

Sure AT&T, SIM cards. I suppose they're passing that memo around to try to blame anything other than their incompetence. Pre ordered Sept-14 at 12:14AM PDT, stuck in "Processing" limbo.

I placed my order over the phone at 7:59am and 8:03am PST 9/14. My order numbers begin with EXTP. Obviously I didn't get my phones today. However, I was told today by ATT Chat Rep Kimberly K that I am in the "second shipment" scheduled in 14-21 days.

I ordered three. One for me, one for my sister, and one for my brother. For some reason the one for my sister is coming on Monday and the other 2 are still in the processing stages. My question is can I change hers to mine and then her just use mine once it eventually comes? We both got a 16gb white one.

Do you honestly think that in 10 years with AT&T that was the only time they screwed me over? It was just the final time. From the kind nature of your response I'd say you were a perfect fit for the retail world. Actually, I bet you'd do well as a CSR for AT&T, LOL!

--I pre-ordered my phone on 9/14 at 10:45am EST at the ATT store.
--On Thursday, my order status briefly changed to "shipped" and a UPS tracking number was posted on the order status page.
--Then several hours later, that all disappeared and my ordered *reverted* to "back order" and the tracking info was gone. (I wrote down the tracking number and that phone has since been delivered to someone...but not me!)
--Now my order has gone to back order = 0, but no shipping info or other update given.
What is ATT doing?! I went in to the ATT store where I pre-ordered the phone and they told me that **none** of the phones that were pre-ordered at the store had arrived. Meanwhile, people were walking in without pre-orders and are able to buy phones!?!
When I said that this made no sense, the worker at the store said that "pre-order" was so that I didn't have to wait in line.....
At this point, I really have no idea when my phone will arrive.

Yes! Just went to "backordered 0" status! Guess I'm now in limbo land b/t processing and shipping. Maybe they'll arrive next week?

Went to the Apple store to get a 64gb white but they only had black ones so I just went with it. Got it with another line that was eligible for upgrade and they had ATT service reps there so she just switched them so I wouldn't have to stop by an ATT. Got my new phone and cancelled the order I already had.
I would recommend everyone who's on backorder to do the same. Just call beforehand to make sure they have the one you want.

I ordered mine (16 white) in store on Friday at 10:30. It was on back order till about 2 hours ago. Now it's shipped and on the way to me. I should get it tomorrow morning.

oh btw 1 phone is already unlocked and the other one will be unlocked tomorrow. Not that it matters since I am using straight talk for $42.xx a month which runs on native at&t and uses at&t carrier id on the sim to unlock native phones.

How did you get unlocked ones? did you buy them or got them done?
I placed my preorder in store at 930 CST and went through the same stress and pain as you guys. I also talked to several AT&T specialists and through various conversations got $130 worth of credits so I can't be too angry.

So the wifes black 16gb came today about 1:15pm. Again i oredered this phone at att premierat 11:20am on friday. Somehow it made it today although we got the 14-21 days email. My 32gb white was still back ordered
. I got off work early today luckily and callled att at 4pm and sure enough they had some stock left! No 16gb but i wanted the 32gb white and they had it. I walked in and every register was full but i was first name on the list. 15 mins later they cancelled my online preorder and i walked out with my phone. No fuss.
