i ordered in AT&T store at 2pm ET 9/14 and was told 2-3 weeks. I got the order track email 12 hours later - about 2AM on 9/15. Is that when my order went into the system?

Because I've only been an AT&T customer since 4s, I can't add lines without a $150, 1 year deposit and for pre-orders, only AT&T can process it. I tried online earlier and even went to Apple store. Finally, went to AT&T store.
I ordered White, 64gb My order number starts with XFS0416

This deposit policy is a major issue for me. I've been slowly moving phones from a local carrier and each time I either get a credit check or FORCED to pay a deposit. In one case, we just opened with Verizon to get a phone. What good is shared mobile plan if they won't let you add devices? I can't even add an ipad without the deposit!!!! They need a better way to filter out deadbeats. The Apple guru recommended I could look at other carriers over AT&T because of that policy.

Just how bad is your credit score? 500s? Low 600s?

There is no reason for bad credit unless u are really young and don't have a credit history.

Or we all know the other reasons for bad credit (defaults on loans etc).

Companies need to protect themselves and people with bad credit unfortunatly need to put desposits down. Or else's anyone would buy 5 iPhones for $200 each and never pay one bill and resell those phones for profit.

That's weird (or bad). They shouldn't require deposits if ur credit score is higher than 720.

Heck the best home loans are given to those with scores 740 and above.

I added a line no problem yesterday at apple store. Took 5 minutes and I was out the door once the transaction started.

I had 4 lines now 5 lines. But have been att/Cingular customer for almost 9 years.

Update time...

Called AT&T again because my shipping progress hasn't changed. I am now told it has gone from processing to In Progress. Once the order is in progress it cannot be cancelled. So no way to go to store at all now.

If you're in progress, according to them you're top of list but on their script their told to read "It may be between 10/4-10/14". Then they'll tell you how bad they feel and offer you some kind of discount of freebie to make you feel better. I guess it's the AT&T lollipop.

So he puts me on hold. He comes back, now I'm told they're "parked". Parked means they will be shipped soon but can also mean they are shipped and the system hasn't updated with a tracking number. They say sorry a dozen times once again, they "know how I feel".. No you don't, you admitted to me yesterday that as an employee you get the phone before customers do. You already have the phone. Anyways...

I'm hoping I get phones today. If not, it will be the first time ever that I don't have the phone on release weekend and I am never pre-ordering again. I told AT&T that. They need to figure out their systems.
 
My EXTP Numbers begin with EXTP889981**** and EXTP889980****. My order dates say 9/14 though. How about everyone else?

Mine is EXTPB889.....
AT&T business rep placed order, but not through premiere for some reason. It only shows up on the main AT&T order status page.

still in back order . Looks like they are placing all business orders with multiple phone orders directly in back order bin. Bummer, but the email said 'first come first serve'.

This just doesn't make sense. What's the point of pre-ordering an item if the status is STILL back ordered a day after it was supposed to be delivered? Very disappointed with AT&T. If I had known that going into an AT&T or Apple store to buy a phone was as seamless as it has been for most, I wouldn't have stayed up late to pre-order. I could cancel my preorder but it's not a guarantee that I'll get my eligibility back. I guess all I can do is wait. Even more patiently. And yes, I am one of the 1406 folks.

I'm thinking the exact same thing... Its kind of a slap in the face to preorder with the promise by AT&T and the expectation that your phone would be delivered on the start date of 9/21, to walk into a BestBuy or an AT&T store at 7pm on 9/21 to see people buying phones and getting to go home with them while us the people that stayed up late and preordered online are stuck with being backordered and differing stories from AT&T as to why... The latest on mine saga is that they have the phone, but they don't have a sim card for it... Whatever!!! The order still shows as backordered and the rep I spoke with yesterday said that it should be shipped this week... I mean it's not the end of the world as iOS6 on my iPhone 4 is fine and not that much different than having a 5, I just have been upset about how this preorder was handled by AT&T... I received and email and a text from them confirming my purchase right after the order was taken (around 12:40a west coast time, right about when their website came back up) and that was the last communication I got from them... No "hey we're sorry, the iPhone pre-order was beyond our expectations, we're sorry for our poor website performance. Because of the overwhelming demand on our servers, your order somehow got processed hours later, and thus your phone is on backorder and you will not be receiving it on 9/21. We're sorry for this inconvenience and if you would like to cancel your pre-order and buy in store, please call...." Nope, we get nothing!!! Silence... And then we have to call angry and upset and these poor reps have to deal with us... AT&T get your act together... Admit there was a problem and satisfy your devoted long time iPhone customers who were crazy enough to stay up late and preorder a phone so we could have it on launch day rather than risk going to a store (were obviously it was way easier to get a phone on launch day) with a credit of say $100 or $150 for having to deal with your broken promise and poor service which was completely out of our hands, yet you make us pay the price!

On a seperate note, anyone with an order # starting with 1504 get their phone?

Ordered 9:15-9:30 EDT in store. Status switched to 0 backorder and IN PROGRESS at like 3 pm yesterday. No shipping info, but progress!

I haven't. Didn't see a point to be honest. I'd just be one of thousands to be told "Blah blah blah October 5-15th blah blah blah" and that's not something I want to hear right now.

Correct me if I'm wrong and they somehow have better information?
 
At&t<all other carriers

Ordered my iphone 5 on 9/14, 4:00ET with #1612. They told me it should ship on the 21st, then they told me it should ship sometime in september, and now they told me that I'm being backordered :mad:. This is ridiculous and I should get compensated for getting delayed 3 times and placed on back order. anyone else with the same problem?:confused:
 
I just wish this thing would go off backorder...for my own sanity. I don't even care to get a shipping notification, just please get off backorder!

Hi guys I was in that 1406 group I was still back ordered today but I went to a local AT&T store and the manager there overrode my preorder I was able to walk out of the store with my new iPhone 5 arty to all of you who got screwed like I did this might be the best way to go. Oh I also threatened to go to Verizon so that might have helped they also gave me $150 bill credit.
 
Haha, Got my pre-order today as expected then immediately got in the car to go out of town. I get to the hotel (Military post) and try to activate my phone only to find out itunes won't connect. I can open the app but it just says it can't connect to the network yadda yadda. Come to find out they're running SMOOTHWALL. I guess Soldiers can go die for their country but God forbid they look at a pair of boobies!! For some unkown reason smoothwall blocks iTunes of all things. WTF!

I guess that's what I get for having such a smooth pre-order process. Something had to go wrong. Looks like I'll be finding a wifi hotspot around this one horse town tomorrow!

att def does not do first in first out. my order shipped, but my fiance's order did not. i swiped my card in store to pre order her's like 30 mins before mine.

Mine is in the exact same series but my order date says 9/16 even though I ordered 9/14. Still on back order. I ordered 64gb white.
 
My roommate's status changed to backorder -> 0 overnight and now its been shipped via FedEx w/ an EST delivery on the 24th. He ordered his about a half and hour before me. I ordered mine at 11:33am CST on the 14th and my roommate ordered his around right around 11. I hope my status changes soon too...
