Mine is in the exact same series but my order date says 9/16 even though I ordered 9/14. Still on back order. I ordered 64gb white.

Same series of numbers for me (EXTP889981), ordered 9/14 and order date is showing 9/14, but still backorder 1. What number are people calling to speak with someone? The number I have goes to busy after every automated preamble.
 
Called AT&T yesterday to see why I never got my 2 iPhones, operator said even though I order before the cutoff time (mine was confirmed at 6AM Pacific), it probably wasn't processed until after the cutoff time. Total last time I pre-order through AT&T, and depending when I get it, might be the last time for AT&T for me.
 
Unable to Cancel Preorder

I ordered mine through AT&T on the 15th. It still says preorder processing, so I tried to cancel after watching folks at the Apple store strolling in and getting them this morning. However, even though it still says preorder processing, they denied the cancellation. Now status is still reorder processing but cancel is greyed out. I tried online to find out more, and it says my zip code can't be found, and I couldn't log in using my number/password. Needless to say, I am one frustrated individual right now.
 
I want to try something:

How many people here ordered early on the 14th, had no credit issues etc, yet are still backodered and have unlimited data and/or service contracts with better deals than are offered today?

As an example, I have unlimited data and only pay about $70 a month total. I have a crazy number of rollover minutes as well. The fact that AT&T feels like they are passive aggressively trying to get me to jump ship is the only excuse I can come up with.

Anyone else?

Same boat. Ordered early (9/14 - 10:38 am pdt), In-store, to avoid losoig my unlimited plan. Status is still 'processing' and 'backordered'.
 
A local store has 32 mbs, but I only need a 16. Sorely tempted for the extra $100 to be done with this crap. Keep thinking I'll see a status change, but the system might be resting for the weekend.

Question: Does anyone know what the turn around time is for when your phone goes OFF of backorder and THEN you get tracking info? It's been off BO for about a day now.

No clue I have been on Backorder for the past 4 days. EXTP889 order number. So your guess is as good as mine.

TBH it just depends. It can take an hour or a few days to change. But you're just lucky to be off the backorder list lol

I've heard people staying in that status for nearly a week, and others only a couple of hours. Someone posted earlier that got off of backorder and got a shipping notice just a few hours later. I got off the same time but haven't heard a damn thing about shipping.

I just called them and cancelled my two orders. First the girl tried to tell me I couldn't cancel and she was very nice about it, then I asked to speak to a manager who got on the phone and cancelled it right away saying there was some misinformation on their floor. As long as it hasn't shipped that manager told me I could cancel it. He verified he had my upgrade status fixed on both lines showing I was eligible again. To verify I did the *639# and received a text message I could upgrade.
 
well i just pre ordered yesterday..looks like i wont be getting my phone for a verryyyyyy long time lol hopefully by that time the "scuff-gate" is resolved by then
 
Pictures do the black no justice just went to aPple store they are so nice. Completely sold out though with people waiting in line hoping a shipment comes haha

Cancelled order last night and picked up phone this morning. I suggest you do the same!
 
So did you have to pay or he just gave you the phone in lieu of overriding your preorder? I've heard others do this, but none have been clear about the exact process.

Hi guys I was in that 1406 group I was still back ordered today but I went to a local AT&T store and the manager there overrode my preorder I was able to walk out of the store with my new iPhone 5 arty to all of you who got screwed like I did this might be the best way to go. Oh I also threatened to go to Verizon so that might have helped they also gave me $150 bill credit.
 
Yes, I have called several local stores in South Florida and none have any in stock.

Just talked to a few Radioshack's and a couple of them have waitlists going, but they are pretty small (I'm number 4 on the list) with a few expecting shipments on Monday.

Might be worth calling them and seeing if they're doing the same thing. Then you guys can just call up AT&T to cancel your order and reset things.

i do! and mine is still in backorder hell as well. ordered through an ATT rep at a local ATT store at 9:30 CST. told i might even get it BEFORE the 21st. so far, nada.
 
I haven't. Didn't see a point to be honest. I'd just be one of thousands to be told "Blah blah blah October 5-15th blah blah blah" and that's not something I want to hear right now.

Call 611. Ask for a CRS (Customer Retention Specialist) and tell em how upset you are, what you were promised, what you want.. etc. They'll either give you a freebie or new info.

Did the same thing...I was so nervous checking out at the apple store hoping that the upgrade eligibility went through.
