two questions if anyone can/wants to answer:

anyone else feel like me where their backorder status will never change? even when I have the phone, I feel like I'll still be stuck on backorder!

more importantly...!

Has anyone still around successfully picked up an in store order IN the store?? Don't think I've seen anything on this. I was forced to send my phone to the store, but will I still get a tracking number on that since it's not going to my own address?

One of mine is coming FedEx (other still backordered) and it says it left fort worth texas last night at 7:55pm and hasn't updated since. Is anyone else's iPhone on this flight?

this is what I am wondering...don't trust fedex or UPS in my complex to ship the order to my front door...had it go to the ATT store 5 minutes away..has anyone received their PREORDERED iphone 5 in a store?
 
has anyone ordered on the 17th of September and got a shipping update? I have a co-worker who ordered on the 18th and got a shipping info update on the 21st which was yesterday.....

He ordered on the 18th and had shipping info updated yesterday?! Geez, glad I was up at 3am on the 14th and still get the honor of sitting in back order hell.

Ordered at corporate ATT for instore pick-up on 9/14 @ 2:20 PM MST. Still on backorder. Went to the same store on the 21st and could have bought a phone. They refused to cancel my preorder so I am stuck in upgrade/preorder hell.
 
I ordered a white 64 gig on friday 9/14 @ 10:00AM and all week it said back ordered so yesterday I called the AT&T store and they said they had what I ordered in stock with no line. So i went to the store canceled my order and walked out with my iPhone 5 64 gig white in hand.

They refused? I just talked to AT&T and they should be able to cancel it out. At least from what the chat support lady said.

I did, yesterday at 2PM EST. I preordered (two 32GB Black) at my store on the 14th at 9:24am and at 9:43am. Still waiting on the second one which got its tracking number today.

EDIT: On the order status page need to use the store's zipcode, not yours, to be able to check your status.

that is what I said, most of us in here "pre-ordered" that means we were trying to get ahead and get a spot.....

so i guess the "first come, first serve" statement used was the same meaning as the "pre-order" (NO MEANING AT ALL)

and of course no AT&T representative,supervisor,CEO,clerk and security guard and even explain why.....
 
Just to let everyone know I ordered at 5am and was still on back orders so I canceled and I came to my local apple store in south coast plaza in Costa mesa, CA. IF anyone is still backorder and live in the orange county area come here! There's a lot

Called 611 to complain. Was told that only the store could cancel in store orders. I emailed ATT. I got a call from ATT to try to resolve the problem. The guy was quite nice and patched the store manager into the call. The store manager was rude and asked the ATT guy who was trying to resolve my problem what he wanted him to do. He said he couldn't look up my profile unless I was in the store and couldn't do any more. He left the call. I advised the ATT, when he asked if there was anything else he could do, that he had just wasted my time and did not help my situation at all. This has really been a cluster****. I am going on vacation on the 25th and would have liked to use the camera, but ATT has me held hostage.

Yeah that's what I've been doing. I guess after a week of checking every 5 minutes and seeing the same thing, I'm pessimistic for any change.

Good to hear you had a successful in store pick up though!

I pre ordered in store as well , 9:56am PST 9/14 .
The manager told me they would e-mail me with tracking info so I'd know when the phone was getting there even before they would .
But with all that's been said on this thread idk wtf to believe anymore .
Still on back order while people who ordered after 5pm or even a whole day afterward are already recieving their phones .
This is my first iPhone order && lesson learned , next time I'll wait my .ass. In like at the store .

What really bothers me is that AT&T is not constant with it's answers, I'm trying to cancel order to buy at store, but the Chat agent said I could, but called today and a supervisor at 611, I'm from Puerto Rico, said I can not cancel if I accepted terms and condition. It's sooooo frustrating! The sad point of it is that they don't read our complaints...

Ordered 14th at 12:00 PM EST, but T/C didn't come in till the 15th, soooo I'm in backorder limbo....

I was just told over the telephone that they would not cancel my order. I didn't push it because I don't know where to buy one anyway.
 
how long after u phone came out of backorder did it ship i ordered on 9/14 at 2:00 pm and it just came out of backorder sometime last night but not showing shipped or a tracking number

Mine came out of backorder status yesterday, but no shipping info. Called ATT to see what was going on and they said it would be delivered in 14-21 days. She also blamed Apple for all of the shipping woes. I called BS on that.

I'm having he exact same problem. I chatted online and they said I could. Called the tech line and they said that they won't.

I'm going to give it until Monday when my local store is suppose to get them back in stock. If they refuse to cancel my preorder then I'm jumping over to Verizon. This has really just gotten beyond stupid if we can't buy a phone in store and can't cancel our orders to do so.

Has anybody had any luck with canceling their preorders on the phone?
 
So did you have to pay or he just gave you the phone in lieu of overriding your preorder? I've heard others do this, but none have been clear about the exact process.

they refunded my preorder and reset my eligibility and i paid the same amount for the phone today as i did to pre order it.
