iPhone 5: The "Situation"

Ordered 2 64 GB blacks online from ATT at 530 PM eastern on the 14th. Got the usual 14-21 day email notifications. AMEX card has been charged the full amount.

Both on backorder as of this writing. I live in Austin so I'm hoping that being closer to DFW will mean a faster delivery--IF I ever get off backorder!!!
 
If you don't mind me asking, how did you get them to do that?

They flat out refused to do it for me.

They did the same thing to me. After an hour and a half with customer service and talking to 3 different supervisors they told me they could not cancel my order because I accepted the terms and agreement email that was sent after the initial preorder. That is such BS. I even told them about this site and how people were canceling theirs. They didn't really care and said there was nothing they could do. I even ask for some sort of credit for all this BS and they said they couldn't even give me that!!! Went on saying that waiting for a pre order was not a ligimiate reason for credit. Mine is still showing 1 on backordered and has not moved. Soo pissed right now. For those of you who were able to cancel your orders i wish I could have got the same rep as you.
 
I have no idea what's going on with my order. I'm not dying to have it but I'm anxious to get it. I ordered a 64 GB Black on 9:38 AM on 9/14/12, and I'm still on backorder. It hasn't changed at all and I have no idea when it's going to get there. I haven't even received the 14-21 days notice even though my credit card has been charged. :confused:
 
Something better than nothing...you ordered 4 and got 1 through Fedex the 21st?

exactly, I ordered the first three at 3:10am EST on ATT website, the last one was ordered at 9am EST and over the phone aaaaaannndd guess what......

The one I received was the last one I order!

The chat agent says differently, says you can, I have it written: You may reach one of our Product Specialists on 800-331-0500, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Eastern Time; Saturday from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Eastern Time.
 
All of my families phones beside mine just went to 0 back order. My phone is 32gb and theirs are 16gb. I hope mine goes off backorder as well soon!

That's the number I called today and still could not get the order canceled. Even went to supervisor level.
 
I too ordered a 64Gb black still back orderd orderd on the 14th. I think Next week there will be more shipments,. The in-store rep where I had orders mine said I would get it this Friday, or possibly the next Friday.... Crazy, so many stories.
 
Mine did! Just checked it a few minutes ago! WOO-HOO! Something good has got to be around the corner for us! Stay encouraged!:D:D:D

Still on back order! I ordered on the 14th at about 3pm... Been on back order since Tuesday I think.

I ordered a 64GB White iP5 at 9:03am CT from an AT&T retail store. Got an email that said 14-21 days at 9:53am CT. I was on back order all week. Last night, I went off back order between 7 and 8pm. This morning, I had shipping info and will be delivered Monday by 3pm.

I think they are just so backed up with orders that they simply cannot keep up.

Don't give up hope. It just seems to be an issue of processing the supply and getting it out the door. No company that is used to shipping a few thousand devices a day can cope with shipping a few million without a ton of snags.

I guess. But still they should have given there staff more to work with. I don't blame the reps, it's not there fault. But AT&T should have had a better system with this Pre order fiasco.
 
when/how did you order?

I ordered @ 11:30AM 9/14, CST, online. I figured I'd missed the infamous 'cutoff' time, but at least I got it in. Since that time, my order has shown as
backordered. It wasn't until I spoke to a knowledgeable CSR today (most of them didn't seem to have a clue about anything sorry to say) that my order had been 'pulled' due to a fraud check. Imagine that! Obviously it cleared later, but I suspect it held my order back despite being told otherwise.

Really hopeful now that I get a confirmation e-mail inclusive of a tracking number. This has been one helluva experience. NEVER AGAIN will I do this. It kinda took the fun out of having my first iPhone.
 
Hope?

I know that there is still a lot of hope for those of us that just went off backorder...but doesn't it seem that it just happened to EVERYONE?!

I have been off backorder for more than a day now...no new shipping info. Anyone else like this?
 
Well I have had a pretty bad day, Preordered 9/14, was told I would receive it on the 21st, and then later got an email it would be delayed and arrive in 14-21 business days. So today I went to my apple store, they had plenty of phones in stock, so I cancelled my order. I then tried to buy an iphone at apple and since I am under a business account I couldnt do it there. And Att has run out too. Pretty bad luckk... lol

Don't fret the lack of a charge on your CC. It's the backordered status that you want to get out of first and foremost. When your financial institution puts the funds out there to be collected and it just languishes, it will pull it back in 3 to 5 days and credit it back to your account. The merchant then has to submit a new request. You just know that AT&T is gonna come sniffin' for the cash when they want it; no worries there. My account has no pending charges either since the merchant took it's time about collecting. They'll charge you sooner or later--rest assured.:p
