has anyone figured out what an order number that starts with XO5220 ... means? ordered a 32 in black on friday at 9:30 CST. been in backorder ever since. no change whatsoever. anyone?
 
Just went from backorder 1 to 0, pending shipping, credit card not yet charged but it did have a hold earlier in the week.

Order #1910..., 32GB white model, order time 2:22AM PST 9/14
No emails, reps said last week that mine would ship 9/21.
I am sure they are trying to work on the early AM backorders.
It is a new line - some have said that those orders got bumped several hours for processing.
 
I just called them and cancelled my two orders. First the girl tried to tell me I couldn't cancel and she was very nice about it, then I asked to speak to a manager who got on the phone and cancelled it right away saying there was some misinformation on their floor. As long as it hasn't shipped that manager told me I could cancel it. He verified he had my upgrade status fixed on both lines showing I was eligible again. To verify I did the *639# and received a text message I could upgrade.

Here's the chat session with them. Totally useless.

Richard Stoddard: i tried to cancel the pre-order and was denied. why can't I cancel if it is still in pre-order processing?

Richard Stoddard: but you're telling me it's still two-three weeks. how can it be in the next batch?

Lavaisha : That is the next batch, 10/04/2012 To 10/15/2012.
Richard Stoddard: that's not acceptable. I want a manager or someone who can cancel it.

Lavaisha : I do apologize, your order was placed through our Premier Department you will have to speak with them. Would you like the number?

Richard Stoddard: i did not place it through the premier department, but yes, I want a number.

An order # && and order TRANSACTION # which consists of both letters && #'s ?

Tried to cancel again, this time from (888) 333-6651 number. No go. The rep said I can call 800-866-1514 on Monday which is their second tier. She even talked to her supervisor, but again got that terms and conditions bs.

One thing she did say was something about adding another line, getting the iPhone 5 in store on the new line with the subsidized price, then when the shipped order comes in, don't open the box, take it back to a store for a refund and end that line within 30 days. Looks like that may work. Will think it over and might go to the store tomorrow to do that.
 
i ordered my 32gb black one at 315am CST. Like you, 1 hour 15 minutes after they went on sale.

Ordered it from Apple and mine from the moment I ordered said Oct 5th delivery.

Wooohooo, apple sent me an email and it shipped today, be here next week.

I was having the same issue as you & the order transaction # was the one that worked for me but my letter looked nothing like yours /= .
Hope you figure a way around it soon )= .
 
Wow I just had an order 90410 go from backordered 1 to 0 ... very excited!
It was a phone order before 9am EST on 9/14. I had resigned myself to the end of October.

Back order went from 1 - 0 on Blk32g #1489
Shipping pending .. Ordered 10:30am CST 14th.
Some change at this point is welcomed, or ment to pacify.
 
Ordered 9/15 about 5pm, still on back order obviously. Still kinda annoyed, but theirs still people that ordered before me that are also on back order.
 
The same thing has happened to me except I didn't cancel my order yet. I've chatted with multiple reps on different days with no luck.:( I've tried everything from complaining to threatening to change carriers, still no luck. I guess they really can't do anything and they've used up all their luck:(. we'll just have to wait till october or hope it comes off back order

P.S. ***** at&t. I rarely get more than a bar in my place and it says on the coverage map that my area had excellent coverage. at&t are just lying bastards kept alive by their partnership with apple:mad:

Yeah its ridiculous, I actually went back to the At&t store and asked them if I could switch from a business to a personal, and the sales rep responded saying I could go to T-Mobile, Sprint, or Verizon. I was that close to cancelling my service with them right there and then, I was being perfectly polite and that was a very rude response. All throughout today staff at At&t has lied multiple times, it hard to even keep count. Im just going to check back with At&t stores in my area on Monday and hopefully I will be in luck. This will definitely be the last phone I buy from At&t.....

yesterday backorder went from 1 - 0

however since then I have not heard anything regarding shipping information etc?

any thoughts?
 
I was with AT&T for over 7 years...after all their lies and BS I walked into a Verizon store yesterday, bought a iPhone 5 32gb, and walked out. No more AT&T...and I will NEVER pre order again. AT&T really means FU&U

I'm in roughly the same boat.

1. Ordered 16GB white in store 9/14 around 1:30pm EST. Was told by the store manager my order would ship on 9/21 and I would receive it by 9/28 at the latest.
2. Confirmation email received 8:30pm 9/14 with the 14-21 day backorder BS line.
3. Order went from back order of 1 to 0 sometime between 8 and 10pm Friday 9/21.
4. Still no shipping information...

I'm hoping I receive a tracking number Monday morning and a shiny new iphone sometime Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

Well, after hearing nothing from AT&T - I called and got a really nice customer service rep who cancelled my preorder.

Went to the apple store in Denver at 7:30 pm and had no wait. Picked up my black AT&T iPhone 5. Love it.

I told the CSR I was out of town for two weeks and wouldn't be able to be at home. It was a lie, but it worked.

Out of Backorder

I ordered a black 16 gig in a corporate ATT store on 9/14 at 2:22 MST for in-store pick-up. Status changed sometime in the last three hours off backorder. No shipping or tracking info.
