preordered 9/14 and STILL on backorder.

I'm so upset. I haven't gotten anything from AT&T for the past 8 days.

I've been calling them daily though. AT&T handled this iPhone business *********ALLY.
 
my backorder status JUST NOW went from the backorder column to nothing there but a 0!! just now. i ordered the 21st at 9:30am CST from a local ATT rep in the store. it's been on backorder the whole time until just now. i'm like the rest of you in the same situation ... at least it's some movement! never thought i could waste so much time and feel so many emotions over a cell phone, especially considering that the iphone 4 i have works great. i think i've lost all rationality! :eek:
 
1711 and still waiting....tried several times on Friday to cancel preorder, including visiting a nearby ATT store, but no luck. didn't try today, couldn't find any in stock at the local apple store anyways....
 
One of my orders just shipped (black 16 gb), estimated arrival the 24th. The 32 gb is still backordered tho. Ughhhh!
 
Well now both my orders went from back-ordered 1 to back-ordered 0, with no shipping information. Here's hoping I get a shipping notice soon.
 
Finally

I ordered a black 64gb at 9:15am eastern on 9/14 and was backordered until last night when it went from 1-0 around 10pm. Got an email this afternoon telling me it shipped today at 2:30 and will arrive before 3pm on Monday the 24th.

Update to my backorder hell:

Ordered white 64Gb a little before 6AM Friday, 9/14. All communication with AT&T CSRs and emails continually stated I'd receive on 9/21. Even though online order status always said "backorder".

Finally called in again today and asked if I could cancel my order. At first I was told that it couldn't be done, as it had already been "sent to the warehouse for shipping". Kept my calm, asked if there was any way to cancel it, as my local AT&T stores had plenty of 64Gb stock. She put me on hold, then did a conference call with Customer Care. Order was cancelled within minutes, and my upgrade eligibility date was reset immediately. I made sure to get this verified before ending the call by dialing *NEW. Drove 5 minutes to my local store, picked up a 64Gb black (they were out of the white I wanted by that time), and I'm all good to go now.

Moral of this story is...I'll never freaking pre-order (especially through AT&T) again.
 
Is it just me or do you guys feel like that pre ordering for the iPhone is pointless. I mean the last time I check when you pre order that means you get your item before they send any to stores. Why did apple and att not feel all pre orders before shipping any to the store. We order our phones before any one we should be getting it first. Apple is so stuck in them selfs that they could not care less about the customer. But hey why would they we keep giving them money it the truck loads.

I know all of us are hating on att but this is just as much apples fault as att. Just a thought

That's ridiculous but at least you got your phone.
They can't cancel mine and wouldn't let me go somewhere to get it because it would be an override for an upgrade. My upgrade was on the 8th of October.

So they gave me no option.

Over the phone they act like nobody has the phone whatsoever.

The part of all of it that I found the oddest was that the whole time during today's phone call to cancel, both CSRs (the eComm CSR and Customer Care CSR) continually referred to my order as a "16Gb white" iPhone 5 when looking at my order. Yet all of my emails from AT&T and my online order status showed the 64Gb white that I originally attempted to order. I didn't think much of it when on the phone, but when I arrived at the local store and was checking out, the agent there looked at my account's notes/history and made the comment "oh, I see that you cancelled your 16Gb white order". So it looks like the system had my pre-order ROYALLY screwed up. Showing me the 64Gb white that I ordered, but showed internally as a 16Gb white. Glad that crap is over!

Very nice. :) I ordered at 4:30 PM so hopefully mine is off soon.
How long after you last checked it to when it first went off backorder?
