Can some1 confirm or deny?

I was told by 2 different AT&T csrs that if your order is delayed ie you are in the 14-21 group you will have received an email to that effect stating that your order will be delayed. I hope that is true ! If some1 can confirm that let us know . All I know is I was told that by 2 different csrs
 
I ordered on the phone from AT&T at 5 am pst 9/14 and was told it would ship 9/20 to arrive 9/21.

We had to order by phone because my line wasn't up for upgrade until November so we had to talk to someone to ask for early upgrade and they agreed, husbands was already eligible. Woke up at 12 am pst (3 am here on east coast)tried to call then but they weren't open, called them at 7 am est when they opened.

Anyway was told would we would have it 9/21and that we have to pay our bill due 9/18 or phone wouldn't ship and it also wouldn't ship if we didn't agree to the terms and conditions email. Kept checking for T&C email finally arrived 2 hours after order but didn't see until until an hour after that because it went to spam folder. I agreed to the T&C on the main line but didn't realize I had to also do it again and enter the other lines number and agree again. Thought we were all good to go, today around 3 pm est we get a text saying we need to accept T&C or phone can't get shipped. Figured out I had to do it for 2nd line, accepted, then got a new order confirmation email with the same order # from yesterday morning only it now says the order date is today. Order status online says order date 9/15 also. We are pretty pissed off because we ordered yesterday before the cutoff and was NOT told the order basically didn't even "count" until the T&C was accepted.

This is unbelievable, they should have made that part clear when telling us it would be delivered 9/21, we even made sure we made our payment today so we would be good to go. I'm sure we aren't the only ones in this situation because I've heard some people hadn't even gotten the T&C email yet. Totally unfair. I guess the whole T&C email is only for phone orders.

Also we paid $9.95 for shipping which I thought was because it was going to arrive 9/21, does it always cost to ship phones from At&t?

I accepted the TnC that I got in my email for my 2 phones but I still don't have an order status under my orders and never for an email confirming anything but my account has been charged for the 2 phones. I assume because I did this 8-9 pm Friday night an it's the weekend. I called them today and was told that they receive my acceptance for my order just no status or confirmation email yet!
 
I think monday will be the day that we will know something. In looking at my bank account the authorization is dated for the 17th, so AT&T will either have to push the charge through or the authorization will drop off. In the past when I've had a order from AT&T get delayed the authorization dropped off and AT&T put it back through when the item shipped. Of course this will vary by your banking institution, but I would think that if the authorization turns into a completed charge then your iPhone 5 should be close to shipping.
 
That makes no sense. According to AT&T on the regular site it shows I placed the order today Sept 15th at 2:08pm and yet on the premier it states yesterday Sept 14th at 7:40am. That's 31 hours later that it was processed and I get booted to the back while my order is being "processed" while others who ordered after me are getting ahead? I am a current customer with no credit checks to process....I highly doubt this is the process is the way you are describing.


I ordered even before you and I have not seen anyone (at least in this thread) who ordered after me be any further along in the process. On top of that, if you tried checking on the 14th, your order wouldn't even show up on the regular site. It would tell you it takes at least 24 hours to show up. Why? It wasn't processed.
 
AT&T premier current customer. 200MB data plan. Located in California. Tried to order from AT&T website and apple.com starting at 12:01. Tried for over an hour unsuccessfully. AT&T premier was totally dead. Got up in the morning and before leaving for work tried once more. Success right away for a 16GB black on the premier website at 06:42. Got a confirmation email within seconds. My card was hit for a $199 authorization the next day at 00:40. Status shows Processing on premier and in progress/1 back ordered on AT&T.com

The email says it is reserved and "should arrive as early as 9/21". Think I'm good to go for Friday. If not, that's fine. What's another week or two?

I'm sure you'll be fine if you ordered that early from AT&T. Plus you got an email saying 9/21. I wouldn't worry hahaha. Me on the other hand still have to wait til Monday for my order to update so I can get a confirmation email. Ordered on phone 8 pm and accepted TcN around 9 PM. CsR today saturday that they got my acceptance form but need to wait for Monday for system to update. I'll be checking first thing Monday if nothing then no doubt I'm calling them!

My bad. What I described was a pre-order through apple. Their orders show as "processing" and then that changes to "preparing to ship". 2 separate stages. I had multiple tabs open and as flipping through threads and didn't realize I was posting in the AT&T thread.

Can't wait until Friday!

Indeed. I ordered at 4:37am EST or so. I got a confirmation email about an hour later saying my order was sent to the shipping warehouse. Pending shipment. A couple of hours later, I got a text saying they received my order. A quick look on my CC statement, there is a charge for $317 from AT&T made on the 9/14. So they charged the card. AT&T site still says processing. I did all I could do. I think I am in good shape for Friday. However, my iP4 still works if I don't get it. I'm in the queue somewhere.
 
here is my status

I ordered two Iphone 5 on the 14th. I ordered one at like 0830am est and another at about 330pm est. my early order is pending shipment.

My later order is processing. Id bet I will get my late ordered phone on the 21st as well. Last year I ordered my 4S at like 230 pm and still recieved it on release day. Im not getting up early or staying up early to oder these phones.

Don't worry if you CC isnt charged yet, if you didn't get a t&c or what ever. if you ordered on the 14th some what early, then you are good as long as you recieved a confirmation email.

My CC never had a charge on it until some were around a week or two after I recieved my 4S.

Well, all I can say is that we won't be learning any new info today, since it's Sunday and not a business day for AT&T.

I can't imagine that they don't have some people working OT for this launch.
 
First time preorder customer here. For those that have done this in the past. Wasn't later on today (Sunday) the day that some of you began to receive shipping confirmations? Or was it earlier in the week, in the past? Like Monday or Tuesday? I could have sworn that some ppl here have said that they started getting confirmation emails sometime Sunday.

EDIT: Being a football fan has made this weekend go by faster, so that helps. Having the NFL today should make today fly by. (Anything to get my mind of the phone being shipped lol)
 
Summary of what we know or think we know:

1) If your order was processed by 12pm est/9am pst your iPhone will ship by 9/21. Some CSRs are saying "arrive by", some "ship by,". Of course web site during this time said "arrive on," so take your pick. Until they ship we just won't know the correct answer. CSRs do not have an official, definitive answer.

2) Do not stress if your order is "back ordered." That is just another word for "none in warehouse," and "we can't ship it yet because Apple says so." Right now if your order says "back ordered," that's a good thing b/c it means you are in the shipping queue.

3) Premier and regular ATT use different wording, but if your status says "processing," again...good. For those of us used to Apple's ordering status, we've been spoiled. ATT isn't nearly as communicative. Based on info I can find, the next status is "shipped." There is no "preparing for shipment," so don't expect an update until later this week.

4) I have nothing to confirm this, but I suspect some ATT stock will be drop shipped direct from China, and some will ship from warehouses in the U.S. Don't freak out if you see orders shipping tomorrow or Tues, but not yours. Most large e-commerce warehouses are centrally located so items don't take more than 2 shipping days, plus there is next day shipping. (Big cos like ATT have contract rates much lower than if you or I walked into FedEx).

5) If you ordered online you agreed to T&C before you checked out. You had to click on the box that said you agreed to the terms and conditions. You probably were not paying attention b/c we are so conditioned now to scroll though legalese and just agree that it doesn't make a mental impression. But you couldn't check out w/o agreeing. The only people that need to still bother w/ T&C are people that ordered via phone.

6) Stop stressing and monitoring your computer 24/7 and enjoy your Sunday. Watch a football game or take a walk or something. This time next week you'll be glad you didn't waste any more time stressing about the iPhone 5 in your hands.

People need to chill! don't you guys remember how this all went last year and year before for the iphone 4 and 4s? I live in Puerto Rico and I've always preordered first day during the first hour they opened the store. I've always received my phone the day it comes out, this case the 21st, even though I've always been getting the email "Your item will ship in 14-21 days". So relax the order and tracking number won't change until probably tuesday or wednesday but you will get your phone the 21st, so just chill and be patient!


I ordered my black iphone 5 32GB at probably 9:10AM EST, got the email that my item will ship in 14 to 21 days and I know for sure I will be getting it the 21st, cause every year it's deja vu all over again :D

I'm very happy to read this.... This will be my 6th iPhone and this has been my first preorder and probably my last.... I also did in store at opening and got the same email 14 - 21 days....I'm really hoping for friday

I'm in the exact same boat. Just checked again and still nothing. I'm hoping there are no issues with our orders.

I checked how things worked when I preordered the 4S last year, and after accepting the terms and conditions I got a confirmation email a few hours after that. This year, they haven't sent me anything.

There seems to be an issue of who gets the t & c and who doesnt. At the very least everyone should have at least got the css summary. But it seems like only some ppl have gotten the t & c email, and some only have received the css summary. I figured by now they would have emailed me my css summary showing my new bill, but nothing.
 
Relax and go back and re-read your CSS. There are two parts, one is for your specific line's rate and it is at the top. Later in the "Understanding your next bill" you will see the FamilyTalk rate plan price. Yes it shows the full plan on each CSS of a FamilyTalk plan and list the total number of lines on the FamilyTalk plan. :eek:

The Other features section is really showing your $30 data plan and your wife's $30 data plan + her $9.99 add-a-line. This is correct! :D

Receiving a CSS is a very good sign that your order is good to go for shipment.

I did go back and re-read it and it still does not make sense. The Other Services list shows the following: Data Plan, Family MSG, AT&T World Connect, Other Features. There is no explanation of what the "Other Features" are and it is an additional $30 to the itemized list that the AT&T rep could not tell me what it was. AT&T could certainly make this a lot more clear and not show such inflated numbers for the "Understanding My Next Bill" section. If I follow your explanation and the way they present it, we may be charged double for each other's data plans. I know that is not what should happen, but it is presented in that fashion for these lines. It is confusing when it does not need to be.

The one nugget of positive customer service from this experience is that the rep told me if the $36 upgrade fee showed up on the next bill, I could call them back and have that removed.
 
im a UPS driver and we can leave it if we choose but your not supposed to and its on us if it gets stolen or the person says they didnt recieve it so 99 % of drivers wont leave it


Question...back in the day, I used to leave a note on my door for Fedex/UPS to leave my shipment - will that work? Or can I leave a note telling them to leave it with a neighbor?

If you ordered it from Apple, you can print out their form, fill it in, and leave it on your door.

Have you ever heard of something called batch processing? Certainly order statuses and updates and emails can still occur if Apple is fulfilling orders today. By the way, today is Sunday morning where I am and that makes it Sunday night in China. Do you think fulfillment ceases on Sunday there? If so, then find solace in knowing it will be Monday morning there in just a few hours.

In the grand scheme of things, is it really all that important to be the first on your block to have this? I'll get mine on or about Oct 3. I'm pleased to have it then. I want it for what it can do for me, not for some fleeting pseudo-prestige of being the first to sport it around my office wondering how cool my coworkers must think I am. Sheesh.
 
There are two different order status pages. One will tell you Processing, the other tells you In Progress. The two statuses mean the same thing.

The two sites show the same information, they just seem to have different terms.

I also received two emails shortly after my order went through at 8:57am ET, on Friday.

That is interesting. I did not receive a second email like you. But everything else you posted is the same for me.
 
Well, I received one email after ordering that said:

Great news – your new iPhone will ship soon!
What happens next:
Your order will arrive on 9/21/12
We’ll send a confirmation email when it’s ready
You can check your order status online anytime
You can check your order status online anytime

Then the next day I got a text message saying my order had been processed and I will be notified when shipped.

But when I ordered the phone, it said it would ship in 14-21 business days in big red letters on the ordering page.

So honestly, who knows...
