got shipping email this am for Mon delivery FedEx with tracking #

So you got this shipping info on Sunday morning or Saturday evening? Just asking since I went off back order this morning at 1am EST.

Order placed at 12:11pm EST just shipped (16gb black), got notification at 11:50pm EST last night.

Order placed at 12:04pm EST (64gb black) not on back order, but still pending shipment.

I have a store manager at AT&T holding a 64gb black for me if it comes in prior to my shipment due to an employee dropping an f-bomb while answering my question. Any tips for canceling your pre-order and not having to wait the "72 hours" to clear?
 
I think it's hilarious how apple overestimates their delivery times so they look good by delivering earlier but AT&T underestimates their times by a lot and get a ton of crap for it'!!

Either way, I pre ordered my phone yesterday 9/21 ( yea I know really late). Order number starts 3xxx. Anyone have a clue when that would ship? It says 14-21 days so I'm hoping it at least ships 10/5!

It's the "Scotty Rule" from Star Trek. Always double your estimates that when when you come in under you look like a miracle worker.

Still no tracking information...

I went off of backorder for a 16GB white Friday 9/21 night. I expected tracking info sometime on Saturday, but got nothing... Then expected to wake up to tracking info today and got nothing...

What is the normal wait time between getting off backorder and receiving a tracking number? :confused: I haven't been able to get through to a CSR via phone or the live chat, so I'm thinking of stopping by the AT&T store (no Apple store nearby) and trying to cancel my pre-order and pick up a phone there. Hopefully.

To the average rational person, pre-order means you get yours before the people who don't pre-order. Canceling said pre-order and reinstating your eligibility upgrade also shouldn't be a ridiculous request. HOWEVER, with the gigantic SH*TSTORM that AT&T is trying to pass off as competency, I'm worried that I'll just get screwed over...

I walked in the store and asked him if my pre-order was there, as Customer Service on the phone said it would be in store on the 21st.

His response, spoken as rudely as you could imagine: "I don't know what the **** you're talking about, pre-orders won't be here for another 4 weeks" and then turned around and started talking to someone else.

4 weeks?? 1 of my pre-orders is arriving on Monday, jack@$$. Regardless, the asst. store manager was appalled and is now holding a phone for me as soon as she gets it in stock for the 'trouble'.
 
Ugh...I am still backordered. I ordered a black 32gb on the 14th 4pm est. :( I keep telling myself to be patient...since my 4 works perfectly fine, but I want the new one darn it!!!

I have called multiple times and even went to an AT&T store to try and cancel and they say they can't because my order is processing. The status has said processing since I ordered it! Another CSR said it couldn't be cancelled since the terms and conditions were accepted. Called premier they said it could be cancelled and I just had to click the cancel preorder button, but then received an email that said the order couldn't be cancelled. What a hot effing mess!!!!

I'm an EXTP889981 and still backordered. White 32 GB, ordered at 10:45 AM Eastern on 9/14. Has anyone in this order group (EXTP889981) have any status other than backorder?

I am going to try some more local att stores today and see if I can get one and cancel my order at the same time. Called 611 yesterday and they said it should not be a problem.
 
I just wanted to wake up this morning to see backorder 0, but to no avail! Ugh more watching and waiting. I doubt anything moves today being Sunday and all...

Yup, still backordered "1" too - not sure why I bothered rechecking.

For anyone who hasn't, I do believe it's really worth calling AT&T. When I spoke to them yesterday, they seemed to be able to track down more information. They put me on hold for a while, but came back with an updated timeframe that wasn't just the generic 14 to 21 days. On top of that, I was able to get a statement credit. So for a free month's worth of service, it's definitely worth a call.

They gave me a delivery date of 10/24. I can't imagine it taking that long, but the woman said, "You are definitely not getting the phone anytime soon. It has not shipped and it will not ship in the next few days. " She told me that their supplies have been exhausted, and they needed to wait for Apple to replenish their stock. Based on what they were being told by suppliers, and the number of orders needed to be filled, they felt that was a reasonable delivery estimate.

I just ordered another one on Apple, and it does say 3 to 4 weeks, which puts the delivery estimate within that same window of time they're quoting me. It makes me think that my "backordered" phone wasn't processed in time and that they're just catching up now somehow.

Again, I ordered 9/14 prior to 7:30am EST. YMMV, But whatever system they are using, it obviously doesn't work, and I fear, for me at least, that they "lost" my order and now they're trying to execute it with no stock. If Apple is saying 3 to 4 weeks, I can't see how AT&T can do any better. So I would worry that people, like me, who are in the same state of backorder Have really not had their order slated for a phone yet, and they need to wait on stock to be able to do that.
 
Called and got a credit and upgrade fee waived, was all set to cancel everything. The rep was nice. Again, I placed my order at 3:05AM EST on 9/14. No issue with TC, account in good standing, etc. Still backordered. I'm beginning to think it's deliberate at this point lol. Maybe they're mad I'm an unlimited user. So pissed, ATT is pure garbage.

Yep, backorder still at 1. It's gotta change soon, right? All the in-store preorders, even the ones made on 9/14 in the afternoon are changing to backorder 0.
 
i just called for my order status and was told my phone is activated? it has left the warehouse and there isnt a problem with the order. its not back ordered either. but it still shows as back ordered on the web site.
 
Turns out my order WAS NOT actually canceled last night even though two CSRs told me it was. I'm getting the runaround again on the phone right now, and even had one CSR read off the "Dos and don'ts" list where it says "DO NOT cancel orders placed in-store."

It seems like it is a DO NOT situation, rather than a CANNOT. I will be asking for a supervisor.

Did the manager overhear it or did you go to him and let him know? I probably would've been thrown out of the store with my reaction if the way you describe it matches how I imagine it.
 
Would fed ex deliver to AT&T today ? Mine is at the Baltimore sort facility 20 minutes away from me.... I have it being shipped to the store... Or will they just wait until Tommorow ?

There updating the system now. I just called AT&T so lets ee what happens. Fingers crossed. I've been off back order since friday
 
If you live on the west coast or even East coast. Drive to a small town and get it from AT&T store their. Store in Merced California, as of last night still had 13 16GB white, 9 black 16GB, 11 white 32GB, 6 black 32GB, and a few 64GB. Call of course before you take the trip. I was Blowen away how many they still had. I asked if they had a line on Friday, he said about 20 people. Got to love a small town when it come to new releases of any hot product.

They said it was activated and left the warehouse? I want to believe there's truth to this. I awakened and immediately checked for a tracking number but there wasn't one. I climbed out of the back order rut yesterday. I'm guessing they don't update information on the AT&T website on Sunday so...maybe it's highly likely your phone--and my own--are on the way and we're just waiting for the last bit of info.'?

Either way, it's GREAT to be free of back order hell.:)
