i ordered a white 16gb one on the 14th at 10:20am and haven't received it yet, today we called costumer service and asked to talk to a manager, he was really nice and understood my anger and he gave me a $100 credit towards my account
i'll wait 14/21 days for $100 hahaha
Apple definitely has a motive for handling things the way they do. They still have stock in some stores, but they haven't honored many preorders that were place 2 hours after the window opened last friday. Kind of messed up way to do business, but I guess they can get away with it.
Preordered my 16gb on 9/14 at 6am EST. No communication from AT&T except a text on 9/14. Spoken to 3 CSR with very mixed messages. Was originally told that I should receive my phone on the 21st since I was ordered before the 9am cutoff (whatever that means to them). Then was told not to expect my phone for 14-21 days. Then told it should ship out on Fri or Sat. No updates except a change from 1 to 0 on backorder. Been extremely frustrated to hear of folks getting their phones who ordered hours to days after me. Think I'll call AT&T tomorrow and ask for some compensation. Seems like others have received that in regards to the preorder bungles. I think I'm most upset about feeling like AT&T straight up lied. Oh, and my order # starts with 1504.
YESSSS i got them to waive the fee!!!!! wooo getting the new iphone tomorrow!!
after 1 call, and 4 chat attemps, i got them to give me a 250 credit!
this is what the CSR said (online)
"In regards to the cost of the iphone it cannot be changed. If you go to purchase the phone you will be paying the early upgrade pricing. However, as a 1 time courtesy I can apply a $250 credit to your account. Please be advised this is a one 1 time courtesy and and will not be applied if you want to perform an early upgrade on any of the other lines"
Im assuming that means i will never be able to get the "courtesy" again but i think its only for early upgrade fees...either way, just keep trying and you will get it waived!! soooo happy right now!!!
i ordered an iphone 5 16gb on another line to do an upgrade swap but its not gonna ship till early october! so i decided to try my luck getting the fee waived and it did!! turns out i cant cancel the preorder so ill be selling the other ip5 when it gets here!

I ordered 2 black 16gb at the att store 9/14 at about 4 pm, i noticed they both went off back order sat evening and this morning I got a fedex tracking # for tues delivery....never received any email, i had to keep checking the att order status page......good luck and hope the wait is short.
4 p.m.!? Unreal, I ordered at 9:15 a.m. and I'm off backorder but no shipping info. AT&T, you are the worst!
4pm went off back order??? I ordered at 12:30pm 9/14 at the att store and I'm still backorder!!! What a hell att!!!
i preordered on 9/14 at 7:25 est. I received an email at 7:30am conformation. I called At&t and they said my preorder didnt reflect that time. According to them it was 9am. So that put my order in the 1407001xxx range. My friends ordered the same time and after me. They all received their iphones. 16gb and 32gb. This is bull ****. anyone else close to my number and get a tracking number yet? Im still on backorder.
You ordered at 10:20am and expected to have it by now? Unrealistic. It's happened every year they have allowed pre-orders, it you don't get yours in within the first few hours you are easily looking at a 2-3 week wait.
Have you read this thread at all? People ordered at various times throughout the day on 9/14 and get them either on Friday or will get them tomorrow.
I ordered a 16GB white by phone on 9/14 at 10:45am EST. I had to call in as I was not eligible for an upgrade until 9/28 and I have the unlimited plan. My order number starts with 9041. The website says I ordered on 9/14. I was told by the rep that I should receive my phone on 9/21. She aslo told me the only way that I could order a new phone was I had to purchase the mobile protection and insurance pack. Ok never heared that before, but just thought I would worry about that after I received my phone. I returned my t&c right away because she said my order would not process until I did. I did not receive any other emails from AT&T until 8:30 Friday evening. The email did not have any dates of when it would ship. My order stayed on backed order until sometime on 9/21. Well today I received my bill for next month. It had the upgrade charge as well as the new insurance cost and the prorated insurance cost from 9/14-9/17. I called 611 and ask them why I was being charged for a phone I have yet to receive. She said they bill a month in advance. She said because I have been with them for while she would be happy to credit the upgrade amount. I also asked her about the insurance and of course I was told the wrong thing, that they encourage customers to purchase it but they don't have to. I also asked for that to be removed as well. She also checked on my order and said it would ship between 10/4 - 10/15. I checked my order again a little while ago and it still says Pending Shipment. I also asked if I could cancel my order she said yes but it would take 48 hours to change in the system. Decided to just leave it alone since I wasn't eligible for the upgrade until 9/28 and was afraid it would make things worse. I stood in line 9 hours to get my iPhone 4. If I knew this is what AT&T considers a preorder I would have stood in line again instead of going through this.
I really don't think there's any logic to the order numbers... I have a #9041 and I ordered on 9/19
I am just really pissed because it says the date I ordered it was the 17th. Lies. I ordered it at like 1:30 CA PDT on the 14th. And my order number is way up there... it's no where any of you all. So great. Basically I'll get mine sometime around Christmas, right?
Screw you, AT&T.
