ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

Here, hopefully I can help.

I ordered 4 phones on 9/14. Checked next day and got a date showing 9/15 on back order. I called up and complained that they are holding me back a day and that my delivery shouldn't be held back till October because of an error in their system. They said I preordered on 15th so I got pissed off and told them that my credit card bill says I ordered on 14th.

They understood and said they would speed up my shipping and delivery and said I would get all 4 of my phones on 9/28 (Friday). Still long, but whatever. I said thanks and hung up.

That was on Friday when I called. On Saturday, my phones got off back order.

Today, one of my phones has a tracking number and has a scheduled delivery for tomorrow!!

Now that's awesome. So to anyone who ordered on the 14th and still don't even have a tracking number, call them up now!! Don't let their stupid system tell you that you ordered later.

As soon as I finished posting this I checked again and I HAVE A TRACKING NUMBER!!!! Woohoo! It will be delivered tomorrow! I'm so freaking excited :)

I then checked my wife's and hers does not have a tracking number yet. Let me go check one more time...

Nope, not yet! I'll keep checking.

The one that has shipped is black 64GB. My wife's that has not shipped yet is black 16GB.

Even got the order date of 9/14 in.

When did you get off back order? I got off on Saturday, but not sure what time. Hopefully I get a tracking number soon!

Talk to a CSR rep about your problem and they might credit you $50 for a prepaid phone. They did that for me.

  • Ordered 6:10 PM on Friday, September 14 via my local AT&T store.
  • Received email confirmation of the order and new contract terms immediately
  • Received email the next day (15th) stating that the phones would ship in 14-21 days
  • Stayed in backorder status all week
  • Switched from 1 to 0 backorder status sometime Saturday evening, the 22nd. It was between 7PM and 11PM because I did not check in that window
  • Saw tracking number on order status page about 4:00 PM today, the 24th for one of the phones
 
Yet another in suspense. I ordered in store on the 14th at about 4:30pm Pacific time; is I didn't expect anything on Friday. My order number is XSP1814*. Back order count changed from 1 to 0 late Saturday. No other updates.

From what I can find out, KAQT is a customs brokerage house in Memphis that takes incoming shipments from China and repackages them for the next destination.

I think that AT&T takes incoming allocations from Apple and breaks them into individual business unit buckets. Some percentage gos to web sales; some to in store orders and retail; some to premier accounts; etc. Within each bucket there are effectively six queues; white vs. black; 16 vs 32 vs 64 memory. Within the queue for each product within each business unit, they try, not always successfully, to go in a FIFO order.

Your post confirms to me that they are holding back all EXTP orders....Your order actually shows the correct order date (9/14). Mine shows an order date of 9/17, even though i actually ordered on 9/14. Why are they holding back our orders. WTF ATT!!

What do I tell them though?

I called a few days ago & told them that & the CSR's response was "that's when your order went through."

So how do I go about that?
 
Finally got out of backorder status today around noon! So happy to finally see some movement small though it may be. :)

Online order - 9/14 - 1:00AM PST - Confirmation email 9/15.

I said screw it and walked into an AT&T store on Friday at about 3:30pm and got a white 32gb. I pre-ordered a black 32gb but I actually like the white better now that I've seen both in person.

Whenever my pre-ordered phone actually comes to the house, I'll immediately take it to the AT&T store and return it and have them reset my early upgrade discount from AT&T that I used for it.

Best decision I've made in awhile. Phone is great.

I ordered at 9:30am on 9/14 and still don't even have a tracking number. Screw AT&T and for those of you who can get your hands on one now, I would advise you to do it you won't regret it.

I believe you are correct. My EXTP, ordered 9/14 at 10:45 AM Eastern (displays correctly as ordered 9/14), however, still backordered.

Its just extremely annoying because I'm seeing people who ordered after me continue to get their phones shipped out and I'm seeing here stuck on backorder. I have to get off these forums :(
 
Long story short:

9/14 8:30am EST. Order #1407 batch. 16gb black
Immediate confirmation email and text. Confirmed delivery on 21st (yeah, right)
Backordered until Friday evening.
Still no tracking info. Processing...processing...processing.

Wife ordered same time. 16gb white. Delivered 9/21 at 2:30 pm.

Now she gloats about how great her phone is.
Consulted divorce attorney today.

& to clarify I ordered around 6pm on Monday the 17th (soonest I could get them to wave my early upgrade fee :rolleyes:)
