  • Ordered 6:10 PM on Friday, September 14 via my local AT&T store.
  • Received email confirmation of the order and new contract terms immediately
  • Received email the next day (15th) stating that the phones would ship in 14-21 days
  • Stayed in backorder status all week
  • Switched from 1 to 0 backorder status sometime Saturday evening, the 22nd. It was between 7PM and 11PM because I did not check in that window
  • Saw tracking number on order status page about 4:00 PM today, the 24th for one of the phones

And mine is being shipped from Forth Worth, Texas. We should probably track that as well since someone else mentioned that there are a number of distribution centers. That may have something to do with it.

It should be noted that I have yet to receive an email with the shipping information. It is on the order status website only. The My Orders site when you are logged into your account shows FedEx but there is no tracking number there.

I went down to the Pentagon City mall on launch day (21st, not even planning on going but ended up in the area) with the gf and they told me they had plenty in stock.

Kinda frustrating that I decided on pre-ordering to avoid all the lines...there weren't more than 30 people in line at the store.

I'm not really bent out of shape...just made a bad decision again.

& to clarify I ordered around 6pm on Monday the 17th (soonest I could get them to wave my early upgrade fee :rolleyes:)

Same boat. Ordered 6pm Monday the 17th. 16gb black and 16gb white. Still showing EXTP#### The weird part about my order is that it shows a "iPad Micro-SIM" pending shippment for both phones. IPAD:eek: WTF I did a chat this morning and received a $106.36 credit.

My order screen is also different..it does not have the alternating blue/white rows..it just says "Processing"

My 9041 just went of backorder OMG! Was really losing hope that we would have it anytime soon.
Ordered 9/14 by phone 9 am est, my order date shows 9/15 because I didn't accept the terms until then. 16 gb & 32 gb both in white, also had an upgrade override on one line.

my order # is 9041 as well and order mines on the 15. Ahhh lucky :D!
mine is still in back order :(
 
FedEx just delivered! Looks like the phones had lots of room to get thrown around in transit. :eek: The sealed air was pretty much deflated. But all seems good!

In case anyone is interested in the chain of events, here they are:
9/14: Ordered 2 black 64GBs 10:20am PDT at local AT&T store.
9/14: Email confirmation received around 6pm, 14-21 days estimated delivery.
9/21: Went to "backordered 0" around 8/9pm.
9/22: Tracking numbers received at 2:30pm.
9/24: Delivery!!!

Ordered at AT&T store, 9/14 at 8 pm pst. One 16 white and one 32 blk. The white has shipped today and the blk is on back order. Been on the phone now for over an hour and the service rep simply says they have no power when it comes to shipping phones. All they say is "21-28 business days". They credited me $100. Stupid, considering the nearby apple store has stock of the phone I ordered. I will never be doing this again through AT&T

Zach Jones: The delay does not bother me. I understand that. But I did not recieve a notification that the order would be delayed. It makes me think that there may be an error in the system with regard to my order

Melvin Mendoza: You don't have to worry Mr. Jones, you'll be notified personally once there is a approximate date that you'll be receiving your phone.

Zach Jones: But should I have already been notified? And if I have not been notified does that mean that I do not have an approximate ship date?My parents ordered a couple hours after me and they have recieved their confirmation and ship dates. Is there someone I could talk to that might have more information?

Sept. 14- Called at 10am EST, 16gb black, $210 pending charge on CC. Received and accepted T&C at around 3pm Order #9041... still back-ordered.

Sept. 15 - Received an order confirmation stating:

"Your order is processing and you will receive a separate email containing your tracking number and shipment information." No dates included, no other texts or emails.

Got a follow up call today from a CSR today about a question I had asked about the grandfathered unlimited data plan since it didn't show on the T&C, reassuring that I will keep it. Asked him about the status of the phone and he wouldn't give me an estimated delivery date other than the usual 14 days or more answer. He was very nice and apologetic but stressed that he couldn't guarantee anything. He also reiterated the first come first serve system for deliveries. :(

Very tempted to cancel and switch to Verizon but will wait it out mostly due to the black version scuff/scratch issue.

Also, loyal customer since 1995... Thanks ATT :mad:
 
Maybe this will bring hope to some:
My order was placed on 9/14 at 10:32 pst. The order number started with XCA2, from an AT&T store nearby. It was on back order until Saturday night, then went to "in progress" with no shipping number. After 2 days, I got my tracking number, which was literally 10 minutes ago, scheduled to deliver tomorrow before 3. I was losing hope, but things turned around, and I hope it happens to you guys as well.
 
They have been telling me 14-21 days. now that they found the error with terms and conditions they are telling me 21-28 days. I ordered on 9/14 at 8:00AM. I am so pissed right now. make sure you ask the CSRs about your terms and conditions

Backordered until Friday evening.
Still no tracking info. Processing...processing...processing.

Wife ordered same time. 16gb white. Delivered 9/21 at 2:30 pm.

Now she gloats about how great her phone is.
Consulted divorce attorney today.

Ha! Same thing happened to me except I ordered my wife's phone as well as mine at the midnight launch while she was sleeping. She has hers now which was delivered on Friday... mine got mysteriously canceled by AT&T. Looking at a late October delivery while my wife routinely shows me her 40Mb LTE speeds.

It's a woman's world.

Ordered my black, 32 gb iPhone 5 through AT&T's website on the 14th and received my "14-21 days" email confirmation at 12:23 pm central time.
A 1407 order for what it's worth (very, very little if you ask me).

Anywho, my dreaded "back-ordered" column has switched from 1s to 0s within the past hour. My guess is that I - and many others - will have their phones by the end of the week.
 
I was unable to order on the premier web site at midnight, even waited an hour or two but it was too buggy to even try.

I ordered 4 black 16gb iphone 5's at 6:30am CST on the 14th.

The status link shows that I ordered them on the 18th.

My order number starts with: EXTPB

I called today, they tell me "7-14 business days from the order date", they have "talking points" like politicians and can only read from their cards, they are totally clueless.

Guess the wait is on now.

Same for me. First 30 min on the phone was about how my terms and agreements didn't process when I signed in the store. Then when I spoke to another csr they said my TA was fine all along and my only problem was back order.

And my order didn't even process till 12 hrs after I signed when the TA finally processed. Set me back even further

Here's hoping for a tracking number soon.

I think that they are bulk shipped to either an AT&T warehouse, or to a customs forwarder like Versance (KAQT). They are there repackaged into smaller boxes.

Still waiting on shipping info for a black 64gb.

I ordered a 32gb Black iPhone 5 on AT&T's website around 7pm EST on 9/14. (Yes, I know...wayy wayy late). The charge on my cc came a few days later. Up until this morning, I was "Processing" (even at 5am!) but I checked it around 8 am or so and I was "Pending Shipment" with QTY 1 Backordered, including the sim...etc. A few hours later, I check my bank account and see that the cc charge is gone. Money is back in account, and I am back at "Processing"....?! I don't understand. :confused: So I really have no idea what's going on. If the first four before the dash is our group number I am in 7095-XXXX. Which is also weird because before today I was 7085-XXXX. :(

I also forgot to mention....I actually bought this phone outright since I wasn't eligible for an upgrade. So, should I have received T&Cs to accept too? Because I most certainly did not....
