Canceling in store preorder

Is there anyway to cancel the preorder if you preordered at the local AT&T store and signed the terms and condition?
 
So frustrated!!! Ordered 9/14 @ 8:47 am. EST. Went off backorder Saturday night and still NOTHING regarding shipping. Maybe because it's a 16GB.

Same here. Ordered on 9.14 but order says 9/15. CSR does not know any status. They repeat like a stuck CD reading the same standard 14-21 biz days message back to you over and over again.

Order is EXTP88998... :mad: and won;t let me cancel either.
 
There's a WSJ article that estimates that Of the Apple production going to the US, Apple keeps about 40% for itself, with about 60% sent to it's partners (carriers, Best Buy, etc.). The point is that 40% divided by about 250 Apple stores and Apple web sales is effectively much hire per store than 60% divided by few thousand partner stores.
 
Still no tracking info...

Went off of backorder Friday 9/21 between 7-11pm EST. Originally ordered on 9/14 in store around 1:00pm (16GB wht). Why oh why have I not received shipping info? It's been about 3 days now! I guess I should be happy that I am at least out of backorder.

If only AT&T would own up to how disorganized this entire pre-order process has been. If they had emailed me and said, "Hey, we underestimated our pre-order demand and unfortunately we ran out of stock before your order was placed. Therefore you wont receive your shipment until ENTER EXACT DATE HERE. In the meantime your activation fee has been waived, $100 has been credited to your account, and here's a coupon for 50% and iphone accessory. WE WILL UPDATE YOU IMMEDIATELY WITH ANY CHANGES TO YOUR ACCOUNT. We value you as a customer and we're truly sorry we cannot keep our promise to ship on 9/21."

I would be upset, but the pre-emptive "We screwed up" email would alleviate any concern that my order is royally screwed. But that implies efficiency and organization on AT&T's part, right?
 
ok... that's crazy. I posted & complained & refreshed my order status and I finally have SHIPPING INFO!!!! Fedex delivery tomorrow from Ft. Worth, TX.

It's a 16GB ordered 9/14 am EST on the phone. Order # 90410...

I had my home phone in my hand calling ATT to complain & get some info... Hope that gives someone some hope for those that went off back order Saturday late afternoon/ early evening.

And as an FYI, I haven't received an email yet, just refreshed my order status info.

I canceled my pre order on Thursday afternoon and still received the phone today. Free Iphone for me? Or do I have to return it?

duno cause they still might charge you.. id check if your still eligible to upgrade first... if they dont charge you id keep it lol..free iphone 5 and u didnt use your upgrade thats a win win there!!

The right thing to do would be return it. You can risk keeping it even though you see no charge on your credit/debit card but in their inventory system there is a record that will show you've received one or one has been shipped your way and following that, they'll charge your credit/debit card even if it's several days after receiving it.

Might I add that if it's not a 32GB in white then just keep it because I want you to return it so my order comes in quicker! LOL
 
i just checked my order status this morning and it said my iphone order was canceled which i found weird because i called saturday and was on the phone with att CS for 2 hours and one rep told me i couldnt cancel, so i told him i want to talk to his supervisor, his supervisor said i couldnt but then i kept telling him that people have been canceling their orders and i wanted mine canceled.

after putting me on hold for 30 min he told me he sent an email out saying to cancel my order and even sent me a text message saying the order was going to be canceled. i asked to talk to his supervisor to make sure i could cancel and he told me that there was no way the order could be canceled because i accept the terms and conditions blah blah blah.. i told him that the previous supervisor told me that it was going to be canceled and he said he was sorry for the mis-information but that there was no way to cancel and it was not going to be canceled and there was nothing he could do.

so long story short... after accepting that it wasnt going to be canceled i was just going to wait til i got my iphone and now i come to find out it was canceled today lol...

i dont get why they cant get their stories together...soo horrible
 
I just cancelled! Got a non English speaking person! I ordered on the 14th, they show it as the 16th. What ever...SMH
I ordered on the 14th at about 330pm. I expected a little quicker progress after seeing others who ordered later than me receive or get progress on their orders. I ordered on the regular sight but since I'm a premier customer it went to them I guess. I received my confirmation at 339pm the 14th. AT&T sight says I ordered the 16th, but again I ordered the 14th. I asked what they would for me but, asked for a supervisor and the supervisor was busy. I just got fed up and cancelled. Heck with it. I was on hold with premier for like 30 minutes. I'll find one at a store or rock the 4S a while longer.

You don't have to, but AT&T will ether charge you for the phone or put you on another 2 year contract

I stood in line at AT&T on Thursday night and just upgraded my existing line instead. I plan on selling it and never activating it with the new number.
 
Ordered date even says 9/14 for me, and still nothing! Ugh, this is just BS! Even got a credit and still sucks.
 
ordered 32 black at 9:30am on 9/14 through ATT store in the mall. order number started with XO522. Went off backorder saturday night and got shipping info on order status page this afternoon. email came at least an hour later. something else i noticed was i had pending charges on my AmEx until last night. then they were gone. and now i have no charges from ATT at all. i know i will, but the stuff with my credit card seems to be an indication that you're getting shipped soon. just a thought.

After that response it sounds like a FREE :apple: iPhone 5 to me!!! :D Score!!! I'd just feel bad for the person who tries to activate it.

im a 90410 too. i came off backorder on friday. damn i am getting so impatient. cant wait for that tracking number
 
i just spoke with att CS right now to make sure i was still able to upgrade since my order was canceled, she said i should be able to get my upgrade still, but what got my attention was that she told me that my iphone 5 that i ordered on 9/14 was suppost to ship out on oct 4!!!??? not sure how much truth is in that but if that was true i would have had to wait almost another 2 weeks to get my iphone???? im glad i got to cancel cause now i can probably get one way sooner than that or even get a Galaxy S3!! or wait for the note 2 *yea yea i know lol*

just thought id share.. that is honestly ridiculous that i would have to wait almost 2 1/2 weeks after the initial per-order for the phone..

I probably wouldn't even chance it. Big brother is all over the place. Last thing you want is the FBI to subpoena Macrumors for your email address since you're incriminating yourself on the forums. That email address then be linked to your ATT account which has the tracking number and the iPhone serial number. They then catch the guy with the stolen iPhone and then he describes you as the person that sold it to you. I don't want to sound paranoid. But just send it back. LOL
 
Order 32 GB. Ordered 9/14 didn't process until 9/16 :( still backordered...

Order # starting with 7849. Probably doesn't help that I am in Hawaii. Just curious...has anyone's shipped starting with those numbers?
