Mine came of back order on saturday around 10 PM. Still no shipping information though. 16gb black ordered at 6.30 AM on 09/14.

AT&T Store Pre-Order, order to ship story
First time posting on this thread after following for so long.
Here is my order to shipping story:
9/14/12 @ 4:31PM CT ordered black 16GB AT&T iPhone 5 in a corporate AT&T store in Oklahoma. Saw order online and then was showing backordered.
9/22/12 around 5-10PM, order changed to show backorder status of 0 but no shipping information.
9/24/12 (today) at 7PMish AT&T site showed tracking information.
Other info:
- Order number begins XAT9317
- In store agent told me to expect phone in 2 weeks from date of order.
- In store agent told me to expect it to ship via Ground shipping, though he was not at all confident. It was instead shipped via FedEx Standard Overnight to arrive on 9/25.

Ordered at 4am west coast time. Got order confirmation for the 21st. My order was "processing" all week. Friday came, no iPhone. Called att and canceled my order.
Went down to Apple store at 2pm and had almost no trouble walking right out with one.
I will never never never order from Att again, and probably not Pre order at all. I'll wait on line at Apple from now on.

I now have 2 phones as of 7pm.When I ordered late on the 15th,I got a delivery date of Oct 5 from AT&T.I also got the same delivery date from an Apple order.So I went to Radio Shack and was told I'd get it on the 21st which I did.(I understand that is now a miracle). So I had cancelled both orders on the 17th and my AT&T phone suddenly appears via Fedex.
I know I will be billed shortly for $213.99.Should I sell it and hope AT&T doesn't figure out that I got 2 phones for $199 each since I only added 1 line?
Or just return it tomorrow to the AT&T store.I never bothered to check the status since I cancelled the order and now it appears.On my doorstep.

Return it. Sooner or later AT&T will figure it out. Why even have second thoughts?
Glad they'll have the resources to figure that fluke case out but not the resources to process everyone's orders. They're losing a lot of revenue (and customers) for these orders with bill credits, fees waived, etc than the cost of duplicate subsidies. But I bet you're right.

with how screwed up all this is, I wonder how long it will take them to figure it out (hey maybe they will actually fix their ordering system? yeah right) ... but yeah.... people getting phones they cancelled... while I'm still waiting for my 3-hour post pre-order opening... bet I get a phone that has visited a person like you come back and then come to me.... especially now that foxconn is on strike (or at least last i saw on the news)
Keep it for a while to make sure they don't bill you for it... and if not... I think they all make enough money already... ..
Yes, there is a chance that they'll figure it out... but they don't always... give it 3 or 4 billing cycles.. if you don't hear anything.. I doubt that you will.. and yes there is a risk. but if you don't risk an egg.. you won't get a chicken

Just go for the integrity move, you should just return the phone at your own convenience. As good as keeping it sounds right now, these things always seem to come back to bite you in the end.
Yeah, this is what pisses me off more than anything else. I ordered online on 9/14 at 11:39 am (eastern) -- 32 GB, white. Order was processed immediately, and I got the "Your iPhone 5 will be delivered on 9/21/12" email.
Since I heard nothing else from AT&T in the meantime, I assumed everything was good and I'd be receiving the iPhone 5 on 9/21. You know, since that's what AT&T told me to expect.
Well, expecting my new phone to arrive on Friday, I decided to put my current iPhone 4 up for sale on eBay with a Friday end date. (Yes, I realize I was cutting it close, but I had no reason to expect that AT&T would not deliver.). Of course, my iPhone 5 didn't arrive on Friday, and my iPhone 4 was sold on Friday. My iPhone 5 is currently backordered with no clear ETA, and I have a livid buyer of my iPhone 4 demanding that I ship the thing immediately.
I have spoken to AT&T CSRs three times already in the past two days, and they are completely unsympathetic -- insisting that AT&T never would have guaranteed delivery by the 21st, and that I will receive the phone in 14 to 21 business days.
I did, however, manage to get them to award me a $100 statement credit, but that's a small consolation prize. I want the phone.
The way AT&T is treating it's customers just isn't right.

Same here but I ordered two phones. The 16GB Black has not shipped yet but the 64GB Black shipped today. Came off backorder at the same time on Saturday night. I expect it will ship tomorrow.

I ordered a 16GB white on 9/14 at 10:45am EST by phone. Order number 9041. My order went off of back order on 9/21 sometime between 7pm-11:00 pm. I have been checking every 30 minutes or so. Had been in pending shipment until 20 minutes ago and it finally updated with my shipping information. It shipped Monday and it is being delivered Tuesday.

I did print it .and yes , I got 6 month free messaging $30.00/M after 3 hour on the phone with 3 different supervisors
