I just tried this and got all excited - until I tried with a whole bunch of random phone numbers and got results for all of them as well. I also tried just putting a 1 in the shipment reference and got a positive result then too. Has anyone put in a number and NOT gotten a package reference?

When you put 0 or 1 as the zip code, it brings up a package.

I know that, but I was checking to see if it would work with ANY reference number and 1 as the zip code, and it does.
So the only way it works is if a package comes up with YOUR ZIP CODE and PHONE NUMBER entered.
well i can tell you this: I did this last year and it worked. I tried it about an hour ago and it worked. Just now I tried it and it isn't coming up with anything. I know this works because it worked about an hour ago!

I don't think that UPS thing works. Because i put in phone numbers for all of my family members, and none of them ordered a package. But they all said they found something, but it didn't have a tracking number. And i was putting 1 or 0 as the zip code with their number.
does your order show ups as backordered on this site ?

yes both of them... and one of them I ordered at about 330pm the 14th.
I swear the ups thing worked but isn't working now. it came up with a hit once again and then quit working again
Woke up this morning and checked https://www.wireless.att.com/order_status/order_status, sometime in the night my qty-back-ordered went from 1 to 0. Still shows status as In Progress. Maybe its means something good maybe not! Ordered mine through AT&T at 12:07am PST.

Something went FUBAR with your order. Maybe cell phone billing address and CC billing address or shipping address don't match. Anyway you need to call ATT pronto and get it cleared up.
you might need to call them soon, maybe your payment did not match, CC and address, or something like that.
Look through the thread. Backordered is normal. They don't have the phones yet, so that's how their system is showing the status.
This thread has slowed down to a crawl. Looks like ppl who ordered from Apple are getting their shipping info much quicker than anyone who ordered from AT&T.
Naw, it's still good as long as you have pending shipment. My card didn't go through so I called AT&T and they fixed that problem. Got processed and ready to go after I hung up. CSR told me it'd come on launch day too.
Checked my order and the Qty Back-Ordered has gone from 1 to 0. Looks like AT&T got their shipment in. If lucky, those who also ordered early may have it shipped tomorrow or Tuesday. It looks like Apple is shipping them out tomorrow so maybe AT&T will as well.

nah but i mean im starting to think EVERYONE has "pending shipment." Even the people who received the dreaded "14-21" seem to be on pending shipment lol.

It's a bogus report. I tried w/ my phone# and used "1" as zip code and got a positive response. Then I put in the land line# for the WH press office and got a positive response! Then I put in the # for the Capitol switchboard and got a positive response!
Also I would hope ATT wouldn't be using a crappy service like UPS innovations to deliver a $200-500 iPhone. That would really be a PITA if I had to retrieve it from the post office b/c they are hardly open -- something like 9-5 when I'm working. At least FedEx and UPS are open 8am to 9pm.
A lot of orders from Apple that have the pushed back dates are now getting it on launch date. That will probably be the same for AT&T phones.
3:04AM EST I ordered the moment the preorder button worked. Got my second email saying it was sent to the warehouse that same night/morning at 4:35AM EST.
I really think everyone should relax. Those who ordered early will most likely have it by this coming Friday. If you ordered late, you should have an open mind that it may come later. The phone sold out in sell then an hour on the Apple site so I can't imagine those who ordered way later got in the first batch. All we can do is wait.
