Seeing all these EXTP'ers getting their phones shipped makes me incredibly jealous. EXTP889985 STILL on backorder.

EXTP889982 still backordered here. I placed my order at approx. 1pm PT on the 14th. It shows my order date as the 15th though. AT&T is absolutely horrible.

went off backorder on the 21st
got shipping info yesterday morning and it arrived today!!!!

My advice is - talk to a manager get him to allow you to keep your upgrade
Look around in stores if you can find one, buy it with the upgrade then just return the preordered one.
I went through all sorts of hoops, but eventually waiting for my preordered one was the easiest option.

This is literally the worst product launch ever. Apple knew how many damn phones they were gonna sell yet they announce it on the 12th and open pre-orders on the 14th to release on the 21st. Shouldn't have been that quick there should have been a lot more time to push out more devices before starting this launch. There's not a single iPhone5 at any store anywhere with a 75 mile radius of me. Thats absolutely ridiculous.
After being told repeatedly that the order could not be cancelled by the CSR, and then told by the supervisor that it could be cancelled, but it'd be 24 hours before my upgrade elligibility was reset, and then being told by retention person that no, in fact, it could not be cancelled, my order suddenly reset to cancelled around 4 PM EST. But, no upgrade elligibility. Called 611, talked to a very helpful CSR named Jesus, and now have my upgrade elligibility back and a cancelled order. Of course, the Apple Store near work sold out of this morning's shipment hours ago, but still . . .
Same here. The CSR said after 1PM PDT means the order is dated next day looks like.
The csr lied to you. Stop listening to them. Your better off coming up with your own assumptions then listening to those fools.
a quick update here, my order was showing on BACKORDER earlier today around 2:30 pm then around 4:00pm i checked again, its under processing status...is this a good sign? placed order on att.com yesterday pm white 16gb
I have now entered the third phase. First I was angry. "What the hell AT&T??!?!?" Then I went into denial. "There is no way AT&T has not shipped my phone yet. Back-ordered? No f'n way". And now I am entering bat-**** crazy. "*#&$&* #($*H!!! I#(#*$&@#(@ Mother@##($U$er #($*!!! Are you freaking kidding me that my exact phone is shipping to others who ordered way after me and I had ZERO problems with my order??? No credit card issue. Order confirmed on the 14th! Very well could be. They seem not to know squat. They read like robots from a prompter saying 14-21 biz days crap over and over again
Speaking of Hulk Smash I preordered The Avengers, it should be coming sometime next week cause I choose for it to come really slow.
I wish my status would change as well, just checked it and still in progress and pending shipping with a 1 under backorder. Sigh....somebody must not like me. Mine is a 32gb black iPhone 5. If I knew it was going to be this bad I would have ordered through Apple.

I'm in the 1406 group and ordered around 9am ish PST time on the 14th and STILL on backorder... anyone else in this same group? Others who preordered after this timing have received their iphone.

EXTP889981 here. I am hopeful that my backorder will clear soon, as I've seen someone that ordered just before me on 9/14 get off back order today.
Maybe I can try to build my iphone piece by piece. Got the case delivered yesterday, today I received the lightening to usb cable. Now if i can just source a few more parts ...

I'd like to know how in Hell Apple plans a second launch in, what, 10 to 15 other countries later this week when they can't deliver enough phones to the carriers right here in the states.

This is exactly what I'm talking about - less incentive to order through AT&T. This is malarky!! And AT&T can't/won't do anything about it, except say "we are sorry for the inconvenience, please hurry up and wait with EVERYONE ELSE"
