I ordered at 8:45 eastern on 9/14, went off of backorder early Saturday morning 9/22, and received shipping information in the middle of the night 9/26! It is scheduled to be here today by 3 PM. I did not receive an email, but my status updated online (go figure). My order number started with 1612. It shipped from Memphis.

EXTP Order Update:
Placed the order on the 14th at 10:00AM CST, however, the order was not completed until the 15th even though the terms and cond were accepted immediately. The phone came off of back order yesterday around 8:30 am CST and got shipping information at 2:53 AM CST with an anticipated delivery of tomm by 3:00.

I don't see any reasoning behind the EXTP orders going off backorder. In the past 24 hours many have reported that their EXTP orders have come off backorder, some were ordered before me with a lower order # and some after with a higher order #. I think its safe to say that att is just filling orders at will. First come, first screwed!
I'm inclined to agree with RetroActive on this one. It's been stated many times in this thread that phone orders get the terms and conditions email and online orders, at least through the regular site, require you to accept when you ordered. Seems like you called over a non-issue, just to "check" and because the reps were confused you feel as though you're entitled to compensation. AT&T has done nothing outside of what was expected in relation to your phone yet you think you deserve a credit.
If you ordered within the first couple of hours, received a 9/21 email and then never got your phone it would be a different story. Even if people who ordered after you are posting about their phones AT&T is within their window and it's been clearly articulated in this thread that it is not strictly first come first serve as to the time you placed the order. It's hilarious that you think you're entitled in the context of this thread because there are many people who were promised a phone on 9/21 and never got one. You, sir, are not part of that group.
Edit: I should add however that if AT&T is willing to give you a credit like that then it's on them. It's more the issue that you feel that you deserve it, not that you actually received it. I can't fault you for actually getting the credit.

Well after hundreds of refresh of the order status page with no success and I had already given up, I decided to look at night and my phone was shipped 8pm!! Nice! After 5 days of waiting, $70 bucks discount I am finally getting my phone. Next year DEFINITELY will not pre order through ATT! Hang on tight guys, your phone is arriving soon!

i ordered 1059am est via phone on 9/14 ordered 2 16g one black and one white and still my order is showing backoreded.. What's really pissing me of is i dont know why my order says i ordered on the 19th when i confirmed term and conditions the same day?????? 9041 order# My sister called way after me and she recived here yesterday
Ordered 9/17 and we noticed that our cc has removed the charge from pending... We are still on backorder but I'm praying for some movement soon.
It's nice to see orders from 15 & 16 being removed from backorder. Gives me some hope that maybe I'll see movement in my order.

Off of Backorder
Ordered 2 iPhone 5 64gb blacks on Sept 14th from the ATT site @ 5:30 PM Eastern. Received the standard 14-21 business day email.
Both phones came off of backorder sometime last night. I have yet to receive any emails about shipping or anything else. Delivery will be to Austin, TX.

Order didn't show up on "detail status" checking page until 9/21, and SAID I didn't order on that page until 9/21!!!!
Has been on backorder since 9/21
Updated some time during the night to refelect backorder 0
Anybody have any idea how long people are in this status before getting a tracking number now?

You may be waiting 2-3 weeks from the 21st. I think whoever processed your order to their sweeta$$ time.
Found 2 64gb phones at Radio Shack. Called AT&T to cancel and was told we would have to cancel in store since we ordered in store. Called the store and was told they couldn't cancel there. They transferred us to AppleCare to cancel. Obviously that didn't work. Called back and the manager decided he could cancel, but we had to do it in person. After that it went pretty smoothly - cancelled in store, but it wasn't showing our eligibility fixed yet. Called customer service on the way to Radio Shack and after a long wait they were able to reset the eligibility and were very nice about doing so! After the hassles finding out how to cancel, I was pleasantly surprised how seamlessly we were able to go through the process. Went to RadioShack last night and got two 64gb - one white and one black on their way to us by tomorrow! So glad to have this ordeal behind us!
LOL I know, right? I only laugh to keep from crying. Annoying. Slowest one I've seen. I'm encouraged at backorder = 0 though.
I wouldn't be nearly this anxious, but I went scuba diving with my 4s on August 23rd and my handy-dandy driSuit case popped a massive leak at 80 feet

Hopefully my story will mirror many others and a lot of shipments go out today. For review:
9/14 Pre-ordered in AT&T store 1:00pm. Accepted TC, credit card funds authorized. Confirmation email stated shipment would occur on 9/21
9/21 Backorder from 1 to 0 sometime between 7-11pm. Pending auth disappeared from credit card.
9/23 Still pending shipment, called CS, got activation fee waived and $50 credit.
9/26 After 4.5 days, wake up to tracking information! Still no email about shipment, but FedEx says it will be delivered tomorrow by 4:30pm. Looks like no signature is required.

I don't mean to rub salt in anyone's wounds, just wanted to give someone with a similar order story some hope. Sending good vibes out to everyone who is still waiting!

Another 1406 here that has received shipping information. Woke up this morning to an email and tracking on my order status, on a truck for delivery. Whew...
