Ordered 9/14 9:45am PST but they processed my order 9/17 8:18am. Still on backorder but now I am hopeful that I'll receive shipping info this week. Order number 1612.

Well - if yours was a Premier order too, and assuming there's some kind of logic behind this whole process, then I'd hazard a guess that your shipment will be 24 hours behind mine (i.e. you'll receive tracking tomorrow with delivery Friday).

That said, we cannot possibly make the aforementioned assumption with any kind of confidence. AT&T has successfully thrown logic completely out the window.

Well, the bad thing about this is that I am actually away on Friday...
 
Extp889985 ordered the 14th and pushed to the 17th...off back order around 1am EST the 26th and just checked the order status. Shipped today from Memphis enroute to New Jersey for delivery tomorrow the 27th My black 64gb is finally on it's way! :D:D Fellow EXTP's....YOURS IS ON IT'S WAY!!!! Someone said it earlier and now I join the group that I wanted to sucker punch all week! Good luck guys and gals. Don't rely on AT&T to email anything to you because I got not a single iota of information from them regarding the order other than the initial confirmation on the 14th and the email bomb they sent to let me know that they suck at pre-orders online. Turn around time from backorder to shipped was about 12 hours! I would say be patient, but that ship sailed on Saturday the 22nd!

Just saw the backorder number is now zero. No tracking number yet, but from what it seems it should be getting here within the next couple days.
 
Sometimes I feel like an Alzheimer's patient when checking the status of my order multiple times. Come on lady luck give me word on my 32gb iPhone 5. I wonder if it is not too late to ask for them to change shipping to fastest they have.

If somebody does not like that analogy FYI my grandmother is one.

AT&T Vs. Verizon

I preordered a Black 32GB iP5 in-store at AT&T around 6PM EST 9/14. Receipt said 14-21 days, sales person told me "it should be much faster." Still on back order. Also ordered one for my mom for her birthday, but the rep entered the address wrong and then told us we'd have to wait to change it until it ships...:mad: So I stood in line for an hour and a half with my mom on Saturday and was able to get her a 16GB black model and cancel her order - :D

Anyway, the same AT&T store at which I preordered my iP5 had my same model for sale the opening weekend to walk-ins - I just barely missed out. I decided to look into switching to Verizon when I realized that I've been going over my allotted minutes on AT&T and I don't need my grandfathered unlimited data - only use 1-1.5 GB/month, and found out from the Verizon store in my neighborhood last night that they have not and will not receive any iP5 inventory until all preorders have been fulfilled. Considering that I know first-hand that the AT&T store was selling a ton of them on the opening weekend and they wouldn't hold one for me, that really irked me.

I called AT&T customer service and asked what they would do to keep me as a customer. I did not ask for money. What I asked for was for them to credit my account with an additional upgrade so that if I were able to track one down at the Apple store or elsewhere, I'd be able to acquire it and stay with AT&T. Otherwise, as I told the CSR, if I find an iP5 for Verizon, I'll switch. Simple as that. He said that "the system does not allow adding upgrades," which I know is BS, because I've been granted early upgrades in the past via system override. I was given 2500 extra rollover minutes - yippee... That's all.

I could exit AT&T with no early termination fee, but would have to spend about $10/month extra for the plan I want with Verizon. Considering the way things have gone with this pre-order, I'm seriously considering it. I'd like to have a chance to compare the LTE reception I get in my office on AT&T vs. Verizon, so I may just suck it up and pay a restocking fee after evaluating both.

Anybody have any thoughts on AT&T vs. Verizon? I'm in Baltimore and we have LTE for both. My mom's iP5 download speed hovers around 35Mbps in the suburbs - pretty damn fast.
 
I see the order status page has been glitchy lately. I can only hope this means some people will be getting off BO today
 
I walked in to a local att store and preordered a 32gb black iPhone on the 14th around 5pm est and was told it would be 14-21 days.

I've been checking the AT&T order tracker daily but it continues to day processing. is this normal or is it supposed to say back ordered?

anyone with a order number similar to XW17923CVDFM4?
 
At first it was the EXTP'ers who weren't getting their phones shipped and who were stuck on backorder. Now many EXTP'ers are getting their phones shipped and it seems the EXTP'ers who ordered 32GB black phones are not getting their phones shipped. :(

I'm thinking the iPhone has been around long enough now that people have realized they need 32GB instead of 16GB. 32 is the new 16. TBH I thought they were going to ditch 16 with the announcement of the iPhone 5 and just have 32, 64, and 128 as options. That'll probably be "the next big thing" with the iPhone 5S.

Actually not true...I think the majority of iphone owners have 16gb phones because of cost and because of the fact that people don't really use that space. With apps like spotify, pandora, netflix, etc., people don't need as much storage space.

Yeah, I remember when I got the iP4 I was able to walk right in and get a black 32GB on opening day. I doubt Apple changes the capacities, because if 32GB is selling well at $300, dropping it to $200 would likely lower their profit margin. I'm guessing most people are buying them because of the capacity, not the price point, and I doubt lowering the cost per GB is really going to generate enough additional sales to offset the loss in profit from $300 sales.

I ordered a 32gb black on 9/14 around 2:00 CST in an AT&T store. The clerk told me it would be delivered on 9/21. However, 9/21 rolled around and I never have received an e-mail nor did the order status page on AT&T site have anything for my order. I called AT&T on 9/21 and they could not find my order and called the store with my order number. They told me 14-21 days. They said to check back on the order status page at a later time. I checked again on Monday 9/24 and still nothing. I called AT&T again and they did have my order and still said 14-21 days. I asked why haven't I received any e-mails or why the website isn't updated. They said the website wouldn't b updated they had a shipping number available. Has anybody else had the same experience? This is getting frustrating hearing the people can walk into the stores and get an iPhone or people receiving e-mails with their shipping information but I haven't seen anything yet and calling AT&T doesn't get you anywhere.
