ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

My question is though...even though there are so many that are waiting for their pre-orders yet, are there still random phones being shipped to AT&T stores on a daily/weekly basis? Or will the stores not receive any until the back-orders are filled?

From what I've been reading it's 4-6 weeks before the stores will get anymore stock, AT&T and Verizon. All pre-orders and backorders will be filled first. Some folks are saying a few Radio Shacks have been getting in tiny amounts of stock. One guy said his Walmart had some. Seems VERY hit and miss and a lot of work. Your only good bet is to reserve at the apple store. If there isn't a store close to you then you're out of luck.

I'm curious if I would increase my chance of getting a phone sooner if I start driving the folks at my local store crazy by calling or stopping by on a daily basis. Since they're not the most helpful of people, it might be kind of fun.

Some people report in the forum (and maybe in this lengthy thread) that stores are receving limited amounts of stock and they were able to purchase them with no pre-order or reservation.

I call three local stores by me everyday. No iPhone 5's in stock. One claimed on Saturday that they haven't received any since their original batch.

I was also told that at one of my local stores.

This is really bad! I am on BO. I dont have any charges on my account. CCR dont tell me anything. No one answers the AT&T store phone. I am doomed!!!

If you have the screen with the Ordered and BackOrder column 1, the order is just waiting for stock. Weird that you never had the charge pending at all.

For those of you interested in "recent order experiences" a.k.a. time to ship, I ordered (online) a black 32 GB on 9/29 and a black 64 GB on 10/1. Obviously I'll post status changes. Advertised time to ship" approximately 14 - 21 business days". Nice spin on Apple's 3-4 weeks.

I'll still try for an Apple reserveration because I like false hopes and crushing defeats.

I called around a few places here and they put my name on a list (I live in a generally small area) and they said since I want a 32gb that it shouldn't be too long of a wait. Should I wait it out or just seal the deal and pre-order online?

32's are the slowest to get. If you want yours fast 64 is the way to go.

If you have an apple store near you I'd try them. I would have but AT&T let me upgrade three weeks early without having to pay early upgrade fee. If not I'd preorder through apples website and have them deliver to your house.

Here I thought AT&T was off the hook and it was UPS that was not moving my package from the Dallas airport, but I just noticed that AT&T didn't send the proper data to UPS until today at 4:16PM

Have you seen them in person yet? It's well worth the wait. Deffinetely the best made iPhone to date. The light weight will just blow your mind seriously.. You think to yourself.. Is there anything inside? The black in person just looks soooooo much better then the pictures do.

Hang in there... a month from now, It'll seem well worth it...

It's definitely possible for a 64GB. I'm not sure what the situation is with the 32GB or the 16GB White. It's definitely BS if it's a 16GB Black or the shipping logistics are totally broken.

Those eBayers just need to be beat, although if people would stop paying them, their market would dry up, and we wouldn't be waiting forever for shipping in the beginning.

Kidding. Seriously though, I do hope this thread is deserted soon because everyone got their phones. I do think this was Apple's plan. They build on hype, but it's not fair in some respects.

Either way, I'm excited that mine is on it's way and will be here tomorrow.
