ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

I think I may have shot myself in the foot from the sound of people that have ordered online through ATT. I just ordered an iphone 5 white 16gig through ATT site on 9/29. Expected delivery is 14-21 business days. I guess that means m-f.

My status during this time is "Attention". What does that mean?

Funny thing is that I remember reading this thread the day before I ordered my iPhone 5 at the store on 9/28 and I'm like *facepalm* It doesn't bug me though because I know it'll take some time or luck to find any iPhone 5 32G black in my area, and I don't have the time to do that. I might as well have ordered

Been 3 days off back order and still no shipping info. Seriously who in the flying **** is running their operation.

I just noticed... I already have shipping information! I ordered on the 17th. Black 32gb. Went off backorder at around 6pm-7pm ET.

And.. I went off back order 3 ****ing days ago and still no shipping info... Wtf?

Ok finally getting my phone tomorrow sometime. I ordered on the 14th in-store around 5:30p PST. My credit card had a hold for the preorder amount pending until the 24th. I was on BO 1 until the evening of the 27th. Got a UPS tracking number on the 28th around noon but info was minimal. No estimated delivery date, no size/weight/etc, just that it had been processed in the United States on the 28th. Later that day got shipped to Texas...bounced around over the weekend. And yesterday the 1st) got shipped to Ontario, CA. Checked the tracking number again at 5pm and all info popped up. Delivery is expected by end of day today. Checked my credit card account and the charge is now there. Checked my AT&T bill and didn't get charged the activation fee yet (as I read some of you have been charged before actually activating or even receiving the phone). Kinda bummed the whole "preorder" idea of "first come, first served," didn't really happen, but happy I'm actually getting my birthday present to myself a couple days earlier than expected.

Where does it say 'backordered' on the order page? I ordered mine on the 24th and it still just says 'processing' under the shipping status. Does the status change from processing to backordered at some point?

I have been reading this thread since I ordered. I did not pre-order but went to an AT&T store on launch day at around 10am to purchase. I ended up just ordering at the store but was told the 14-21 day window for shipment. Yesterday I received the item ship/tracking email,so ten days after order. It will arrive Wed 10/3. I purchased a 32gig white model. I guess it depends on the model ordered? Apparently the day you order does not matter? Either way this is a disaster as those that pre-ordered should get theirs first. I don't blame AT&T for the lack of supply but the way they have handled it. A statement would be nice. Apple should have just handed over a bigger amount of supplies to the carriers because lets face it, the iPhone is no longer just Apple's baby. It is on a lot of carriers now and ultimately we are paying the carriers for the service. Apple should just sell unlocked full price models.

That's really bad. Seeing my patience with my order, while he was processing it, the store guy only suggested its safer to get it shipped to store. I couldn't agree more...

If you dont have that option, I guess you'll have to take the day off! (Perhaps its worth it

My Black 32GB (ordered 9/14, processed 9/15, off B/O 9/28, tracking info 9/29) appears to now just be going in circles around the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Apparently, it arrived at DFW on Saturday afternoon, sat there for two days until mid-day yesterday when it departed DFW only to arrive back there at 2:00 am this morning.

All I know is it's still scheduled for delivery by the end of the day tomorrow, so I suppose they can fly it in and out of DFW as many times as they wish as long as it's in my hand by tomorrow night.

Here's a new one. I finally came off back order on Friday, got a shipping notification and tracking number on Saturday with a 10/1, 3pm delivery commitment. Well, the flight from Memphis must have been late and they arrived at the FedEx facility here near Los Angeles too late and my package (and apparently many others) did not make today's truck. I called Fed Ex at noon and offered to stop and pick up my package if they could tell me that it would still be at their facility. But they said that they would get "them" (presumedly a whole bunch of iPhones) out on a special truck today and I would still receive it today, although they would not be able to promise at what time. Well, it's now 9:25 pm, and they never showed. Fed Ex has really disappointed me because I could have easily stopped and picked up the package. Damn them! I can only hope for tomorrow, as my tracking information still has not been updated today, after it started showing Delivery Exception.

UPDATE: FedEx literally delivered my iphone last night at 11:10 PM! It said "out for Delivery" at 9:37 PM, and I couldn't really believe that, but just after I turned off the light to go to bed, the FedEx guy very quietly walked up and left it on my porch. My bet is that they have some commitment to ATT to deliver on the day quoted. They did tell me it would be Monday, I just never believed they would be out that late. Have Faith!

Ordered 9/21 over the phone, off BO sunday, delivery for tomorrow. Took a lot less than I thought it would. This is for a 32GB white iphone 5. I'm guessing most of the pre-orders are for the 16GB and that's why it hasn't shipped yet.

Exact same thing happened to me. UPS probably shipped the phones then decided to play a cruel joke on us and ship them back to where they came from. If the next location on the shipment tracker is Shenzhen, China, I'm going to blow a gasket.
