ATT iPhone 5 Pre-order thread

No offense but it hasn't even been 2 weeks since you ordered so you don't have much to be angry about (yet) since I'm assuming you were given either a 2-3 week or 3-4 ship estimate when you placed the order. Instead, your friends should be happy that they received theirs so early. There are still plenty of people who ordered before you that haven't gotten their phones yet. AT&T sucks for shipping out of order and not having knowledgeable CSRs but that's something we're all dealing with.

For reference, I ordered a 16gb black on 9/20 that just went off BO and has yet to ship. That means that it'll have to arrive after the weekend. I'll bet yours will be delivered sometime next week.

It's not the wait time, it's the huge difference in shipping dates. There's no reason there should be a difference in weeks between the 16 and other capacity shipping dates. They had plenty of time to see it and adjust production.

But at least it's nice to see a 20th 16GB so off BO. How long has it been off BO now? I do hope mine ships in time to come by the end of next week.

Less than 2 weeks after I ordered...got the shipment notice tonight. The wireless (AT&T.com) website was in fact correct and my order that switched to a pending status under tracking number was accurate. Phone is already at the Dallas airport on its way to me.

Which capacity/color and when was it processed, please?

I ordered the 14th, processed the 17th. Been off of backorder since Saturday. So 2 days shy of a full week on backorder. (I sound like a broken record lol).

So please please please. Maybe by Monday I'll have my tracking info... if not my phone.

Just spoke with an AT&T rep earlier today, I ordered my black 16 gb a few days ago, asked about the backorder which was showing up like many of you and she said that there are no iPhones on backorder and they're just sending them on as they're received. Not sure how legit this is but oh well

Interesting. I ordered mine recently too. 9/30. I mean...isn't it essentially the same thing? If it wasn't backordered, it means there's enough product as there is demand. Just because there are shipments coming in doesn't mean they aren't on backorder. I think...please correct me if I'm wrong. Even if it isn't called backorder by definition, it seems like the same thing anyway.

Yeah I agree, just kind of annoying that their site tells me BO but they turn around and say that's actually not the case. She basically said it won't really take 3 weeks, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Ordered mine the 30th also so I won't complain yet as there are preorders who haven't been filled.

Can I get my phone at the Apple store and cancel my ATT order? I had to add a line through ATT to get the iphone....will that be possible to do at the store?

Or am I just stuck waiting for dang ATT to ship me my new phone?

I ordered 9/26 on AT&T website and processed same day. I ordered one 16GB White i5 and one 16GB Black i5. I am currently on backorder with a supposed 2-3 week shipping.

I have spoken with a friend who is an AT&T rep in-store and he said that those who ordered in the 20's should get shipping info on them in 1 1/2 to 2 week range.

I pre-ordered the 4s last year thru AT&T and was waiting for close to 3 1/2 weeks before I got mine last year. I am used to this lol

I am getting bored of mine and already picked up 6 screen protectors ($6), 3 back protectors ($3), 1 otterbox commuter ($20), 3 lightning cables ($15.99), and 2 speck cases ($20). Glad on the first day the only option I had from apple store was 16gb white AT&T. With scuff gate and availability it was a blessing in disguise.

A lot of it is luck. Last week I sold my 4 for $275, that night I logged on, ordered a 5/16BG/Black with in store pick up. Took me 5 minutes, done.

This week I've been trying to order another one, and nothing. In Store not available at all, and very short supplies...

A combination of luck and cell carrier organization. Mostly luck.

Preordered wife's W16GB same day as mine, 9/14. She received her's the 24th.

I used to be one of the lazy ones as well, until I had to wait almost 2mo for the iPhone 3 way back when and 3mo for the New iPad. So I anticipated shortage and preordered the 5. I will rethink that strategy next Apple release. ESPECIALLY when I deal with AT&T.

Interesting development here.... My order for a black 16 and a black 32 shipped last night UPS 2 day with a scheduled delivery for Monday. I just checked the tracking and the 16gb is being returned to sender!!! WTF ATT! Ship me the wrong phone!? As of now the 32 is still on the way.

Ordered the 17th over the phone. My order processed on the 19th around 9:00 AM EST. came off backorder 10/3 sometime in the early morning. Just checked again and now it says both are in transit. Not sure if it was an ******* up by ups or what but all I can do is wait and see.

I have been following this forum trying to figure out when I am going to receive my iphone 5 16gb in white and figured I would add to it. I ordered mine through an AT&T store around 8 pm on 9/20. On 10/3, "Pending shipment" was added under the tracking number on the website. Not sure if this means anything but I will keep every posted.

I quickly regretted getting the black and called and complained to ATT about this extra $250 they were charging! I sold my black 5 to my other line on my account for $150(what a deal). When my white 5 gets here I'll give him the black 5. I'm sure I wont go thru the pain and suffering most of you went thru pre-ordering so early. SOme advice to all next go round DONT ore-order from the carrier or any other store but Apple! Stay up till 3am and get from Apple or get your ass in line at your local Apple store. AT&T has been ****ing these pr-orders up since the start!!!

Factor in all the people here on MacRumors, as well as the all the other peeps who are venting on all the other forums. We are >1% of all the people who preordered or ordered after release who haven't received their iPhone 5.

Then it becomes quite clear that this is a FUp of
monolithic proportions, either on Apple or the different carriers........probably both.

This could take awhile.............
