i orderd my iphone 5 on octoboer 5 and yesterday it came off back order.. and att charged me for the phones.. does that mean my phone will be shipped?

not me. I ordered 32GB black on 10/1 and still on BO. Maybe they are improving quality control so there was some backlog after initial batch.
32GB whites seem to be flying out
I ordered a black 16gb on 10/6 and it doesn't look like im getting it anytime soon.

It does seem like the black phones have haulted and the white ones are flying now. It's difficult to attribute a cause but not only might there soon be a pinch from apple clamping down on the QC for current production but also it's gotta be hard to re-supply when there are people shucking 5 phones each to find one without a ding or a scrape on it for 2 weeks straight. Might put us all way back for the black ones. Just a thought.
First time on this thread and first Time preordering from AT&T. Let me tell you it has been nothing but trouble and confusion. I preordered my white iPhone 5 on sept14 didn't get the terms and agreement done till the 18th. Not cause I'm stupid it's because AT&T has a bunch of people I can't understand. If you can't speak proper English why have them work in customer care on the phone of all jobs. I digress. My question is I just found out how to track your shipping order. It said shipped and I should except it on the 11th of October. Is this true or will it take another week from now??? Sorry for the rant.
I ordered 3 white 16 GB on 9/19 and they came off of backorder 10/9. No shipping details yet, but assuming their in the same situation as yours, i'm gonna say they should get shipped by the end of today and show up sometime by Friday. But, I am not going to be butt-hurt if it doesn't, considering I have waited this long.

It's been a long road of complaining to get it, but well worth the effort. Phone was half price with credits AT&T gave me.

If the UPS/FedEx tracking info says a date, they will most likely deliver it on that date unless it's a weekend.
That right. UPS doesnt Deliver Weekends. FEDEX delivers Saturdays only.

Well I think it might not be another lie. I just checked FedEx again and it moved from picked up to in transit. Thank god I didn't know I could check my order on FedEx until today cause I would have drove myself crazy the past three weeks checking every hour. Still have my fingers crossed.
Delivered and picked up today from the AT&T store. Ordered on 9/17 in store. Black 16GB. It was worth the wait. I'm enjoying this phone a lot.
Well tomorrow is offically 14 business days I was quoted 14-21 should see phone soon I hope.

Someone's 32GB black ordered on 9/22 came off BO on the 9th, shipped today, so that would mean next Monday if the same rates are applied...
