I'm so aggravated with this whole thing ughhhh my fiancé found a phone at Walmart and I called to cancel his order and they refused too. They told me my order was "in progress" and was going to ship any day now I just want this to be over. I ordered two white 16gb on 9/22 in store

That's not true, if it was "any day now" you wouldn't still be on BO. Technically you can cancel if still on BO. I would keep calling until you speak with someone that will do it.
I don't believe it!!! My White 16GB has shipped today # Delivery tomorrow by 3:00 pm by Fed Ex. I never did get an email from AT&T about it shipping. I just kept checking my order status. Time line: Ordered by phone from AT&T on 9/14 @ 2:00pm order processed on 9/19 went off backorder 10/11 @ 1:00 pm shipped 10/11 with delivery 10/12! Thanks to all of you for helping me thru this ordeal # Here's to hoping everyone gets their phones soon#

Yeah, it seems like once you get off BO they've been pretty good lately about getting the phones shipped out fast. They weren't so fast before, with those who ordered on 16th, 17th, etc. So that's a good thing at least. Now, if the 20th's can just get off BO now....

Ordered a 16gb White on 9/17 went off backorder 2 days ago and it says shipped now for delivery tomorrow. FedEx tracking said its coming from forth worth texas. Where do they usually come from?
If ordered from att they usually come from fort worth, texas
If ordered from apple they usually come from california
Well...since it is a "preorder" thread, that makes sense. Seems like just about everyone up to 9/19 orders has been taken care of. That would mean just one more day of preorders to finish, 9/20. But there are a few of us, like myself, who ordered after release that joined the thread, too.

I feel like I betrayed you black 32GB'ers, haha. Interesting story to tell.
Anyways, last night I was at a friend's house working on a PowerPoint for a speech she had to do. It was almost 10PM and I was checking the local Apple Store to see if they magically had any in stock. Well, a miracle happened and they had some in stock! Now, I was scrambling all over the place to find the number that was posted on here to cancel my order, and surprisingly they were still open.
I was against the clock as I had to hurry and get it canceled and order one before they were gone. Long story short, they CSR took too long and I was out of place for my order now as the cancel had gone through.
I arrived 35 minutes ago to the Apple Store to see of they magically had set any aside for walk ins, and they did! I have to wait 20 more minutes for the store to open, and I have my iPhone card in hand. So I guess the Apple Gods were with me!
So that ends my story of taking a huge risk. Good luck fellow 32GB black buddies! Hopefully you'll get your phones soon! Again, black 32GB ordered on 9/28, still on BO last time I checked.

Yea it has. If everyone else is like me just tired of talking about. I got processed on the 20th still on backorder. Not sure what else to post. Almost to the point of not caring. The phone will get here at some point most likely mid next week. What else can I do. Phone CSR have no idea what is going on, so what is the point? I am just tired of it all.
Grrrrrrrrrrr. Can't blame you, though. If I didn't have an upgrade note through AT&T specifically I would have done the same thing. I've even been calling AT&T stores since I'm limited to going through them in order to try to pull the same trick though they keep saying they have no stock. Congrats, man! Enjoy your new toy.
I have to say that the customer service lady that helped me buy my phone was the most helpful person I have ever had. I don't blame her for the delayed terms and conditions email that never made it to my email. She sent me to the actual site to accept it and she made a note to do that for everyone from then on.
And for those of you who criticize UPS and FedEx for "strange" shipping strategies, try researching what it takes to move millions of packages per day. I'd hate to break it to you, but your package is one of many and it doesn't have priority. Logistics is a unique process and it takes a complex set of algorithms to get a package to a location on time. Try watching Mega Factories: UPS World Port to get an idea.
Now where's my damn phone?

Ditto my black one in NorCal. Despite the anxiety, I think our timing is good because the QC "seems" to be improving. (Apple doesn't pay me enough to be a beta tester.)
NOT a good sign. I think the rest of us preorders are just getting tired of it, and/or there is just not much news to report. Nothing changed here, ordered 9/20, still on BO. I don't even know that they've gotten to the 9/20 16gb whites yet.
