I called AT&T earlier after having problems with my account. I asked another question concerning when I would be getting my phone. I told her that I got a confirmation email saying I would get my phone on the 21st... she then told
me that the 21st is the SHIPPING date. Boo. :(

Bulk Order

Seems like AT&T will send out a mass email as once to people who will get their packages around Thursday.

From reading the forums, seems like people who preordered in the 6am est slot were shifted out of backorder yesterday. Today seems like the 7am est time slot, and maybe tmrw will be the 8am time slot and so on.

It's not like they are going to process everything at once and sit on their asses all week long.

Sorry if this has been covered in the preceding 78 pages, but has anyone has success in getting AT&T to minimize the unsubsidized price for those of us moving from the 4S to the 5 (less than the prescribed 2 year upgrade period)?

You agreed to a contract. Why can't you honor it like those of us coming from an iPhone 4 or older? If you want to upgrade, then pay the extra $250 or just wait another year.

Just looked at my 4s order, preorder was the 7th, shipped the 11th, and I got it launch day so by that formula, if your getting it launch day it needs to ship by today

That doesn't mean it hasn't shipped. It just means AT&T hasn't actually updated the orders on the website. When I ordered the iPhone 4 from AT&T I don't think my order status changed until the day before I was to receive it. Honestly, I don't expect my order to change from "in Progress" to shipped until sometime Thursday afternoon.

I ordered around 4am; I still have "1 in backorder".

They have no idea... you will get your phone on friday

What do you want us to tell you? I'm assuming you are read just as well as any one on this forum. ATT hasn't gotten to your order yet. Reeeelax. If you don't see movement by late tomorrow then start to worry.

Add me to the growing list of people who had the $250 pending charge from AT&T go away and the money put back in my account. Hope this means good news

A pending charge will always go away if the formal charge doesn't happen in a certain time frame. I would not consider it good or bad news. It just means the formal charge hasn't happened yet.

You signed a contract; own up to it. I'm sick of some people wanting to get the best discount when they haven't yet fulfilled their end of the contract.

I'm also sick of people whining about their charges, and delivery dates, and shipping here; you'll get your phone. It may be next week. I'm so sorry you have to stick it out with your current phone (I bet most of you have an iPhone; it's just as great) just one week longer.

I saw one post from a guy who said...."I'm going out of town Friday and I need my phone for work. If I don't get it Friday, I'm screwed." --- Dumba$$, use your old phone until your new one comes in. DUH. If you were dumb enough to get rid of your old phone already - then it's your own stupid fault - stop blaming AT&T.

That assumes it would ship from the same warehouse and use the same delivery service and method as last year. But you can't make that assumption.

However, we can safely assume the latest ATT can ship for 9/21 delivery is Thursday.

Not necessarily. I ordered at 2:07am central and I'm still on backorder for a 32gb black model. The pending charge has been around since 9/14 and my order date is properly listed as 9/14. I'm not entirely sure it's based on a "time slot". I've seen more people seeing changes with 16gb models than anything else so perhaps it's tied to that. I don't really know though.

While I'm not one of the people who is overly concerned I think people have a right to "whine", as you put it, when AT&T tells customers one thing before the presale and then can't get their act together and tell customers the proper information after. Yes, many people will probably still get their phones on Friday but having customer service reps tell different people different things, including 9/21 being a shipping date or that no one is getting their phone on release day is a bit ridiculous. It poor customer service and AT&T should either train their staff better or not promise/advertise release date phones.

Not me. My email order confirmation came at 5:21am est and I'm still b/o for 1 black 64GB. Whatever the method to ATTs madness is, we have not cracked it yet.

So here's my dilema.....

I'll get my phone when I get my phone. I was told 9/21 - if it comes Monday, great. If it comes in 14 days, great. But I started a new job and I can't take off at a moments notice to be home (and I'm not changing my shipping address - we all know where that got people). I just hope ATT lets us know earlier enough that I can arrange for my mom or a high school neighbor to be at my house for delivery.

LOL, that's funny, I want my phone too, but not going to stoop to something like that. My iPhone 4 is dragging though, I haven't kept a phone this long in my life, I guess it's been almost 2 1/2 years.

Once you get a tracking number I think you can put a hold on it at the local FedEx facility and than you just drive over there at your convenience and pick it up.

Backorder just went to zero!

Don't know if that means anything, but it's progress!

White 16GB at 7am on 9/14 through Premier. Pending Charges since Friday.

We assume it means they have a phone assigned to your order.

I ordered a blk 16 gb at 2:03 am cdt on the 14th and mine went off backlog around 8 am on Sunday but nothing since then.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever worked in a customer service (retail, food) industry with something as big as this? I can guarantee you that it's EXTREMELY difficult trying to convey all this information in a short time frame. I read earlier in this thread where someone was out right rude to a CS rep. That's not right.
