I just checked my hotmail email and my customer service summary went there instead of the comcast address on my account. It also only lists that I signed a new contract effective 9/14 but does not have info about a data plan, I chose the $20 one to start off with. I had turned off the data plan on my blackberry a couple years ago and never put it back on. Is it not on there because I haven't activated the new phone yet? The data plan is listed on the original order confirmation.

Thanks for that heads up. For some reason mine went there as well. I would never have thought to look there since I hardly use it for anything anymore.
 
My girlfriend pre-ordered our phones (both 64GB) through AT&T while I was at work, and she did it before the cut-off time on Friday. She's upgrading her phone, and I'm switching from Verizon. If I'm understanding this right she needs to accept the T&C before they'll even ship the phone??

If so, I'll be pissed, because they're holding funds of $863.98 for the two phones and I shouldn't have to wait weeks, when the site said "Ships on or before 9/21" at the time of order, according to her.

The told me the same thing this morning, twice. After some digging the CSR saw that I accepted the T&C right when I purchased mine as I never got an email...Not sure why there is so much miscommunication on their end.
 
Geee...why couldn't I think of that. Was just trying to let people know of my experience this morning. This is a forum afterall.....

Seeing how slow AT&T is to update their system, chances are that when you go to the Apple store, they won't be able to give you the subsidized price because it'll still show in the system that you placed an order already!

I should have clarified - I was reading the T&C thing in this thread; I wasn't told that by AT&T. I assume they'll give me misinformation anyway, so I haven't bothered calling them. If AT&T is like Verizon, you sign the T&C when buying a new contract online, which is how it should be. It shouldn't just be emailed to you to handle later. I'm logging in her account to see if she signed it at the time of order

Thats what happened to me @ Best Buy Froday morning.
I went there to order the iPhone 5 and Id pick it up this Friday.
They showed me how I was already locked into a new 2 year agreement as of 9/14.
The phone # associated with that contract doesnt have a contract. I have a 2nd line for my mother who uses my old iPhone 4 (no contract).

When I saw the contract date was 9/14 I knew my ATT order went thru via the premier site :cool:

Anyway, BB couldnt offer me a discount price and I wasnt going to lose my preorder via ATT.
I saved myself a trip to BB Friday, but Im hoping my iPhone 5 arrives via UPS/FedEx that day too :)

See that's where I'm confused too because when I ordered I agreed to everything i saw in order to order the phone but didnt get a follow up email to agree on anything. I was an upgrade, but when i log on to my at&t account my contract started on 9/15/12 so i guess it was automatic but i do hope that this doesnt count towards my preorder queu and that the fact that i ordered before the cutoff does. smh i guess just wait till thur or early fri to see what happens.
 
Contracts are met to be broken. Everything is negotiable.

You've been watching & believing too many TV shows & movies. Negotiations require two willing parties. So unless you have bargaining power, no not everything is negotiable. Try breaking a cell contract midway. They aren't going to say "see ya," and oh, no ETF fee. Similarly, if you don't have a very profitable acct, they aren't going to do much to keep you either.

I ordered at 12:23 PM CST through AT&T Black 16GB - new customer. Got the infamous "Your order will arrive on 9/21/12" order confirmation email few minutes later, and nothing yet after that.

Order status "Processing" & "1 - Backordered".
 
All this stuff is hilarious. People talking about jumping ship because ATT has dropped the ball or havnt done what they said they would. Haha. Man I love reading this, its some of the best entertainment.

Seriously though, some people have ligitimate complaints because their orders actually got cancelled which I can relate to from the iPhone 4. But come on guys, seriously they were not prepared for the amount of preorders that they received, they are struggling to keep up with everything, its probably pandomonium trying to get all these phones shipped out on time and deciphering these preorders. Until Saturday comes and you do not have your phone because you were promised it on the 21st no one should be complaining about anything.

Chill, you will receive your iPhones.

Yea i'm in the same boat as you, been paying attention to the thread since pre-order day but not many with my situation were posting, so wasn't much information to go off of.
 
when i got the iphone 4 on release day from at&t they shipped it the day before release and i did get it so on release day so everyone should not worry you will get it:)
 
just checked my bank account and I still have the pending charges, the weird thing is that I placed 2 separate orders, with 2 iPhones in each order, and in my bank account I'm shown 4 different pending charges named AT&T of $213.99…I hope I get my iPhones on the 21st because I made my orders before the cut off time!
 
I ordered mine at 6:25AM EST - Order status said QTY Ordered 1 and status is In Progress.

No word on shipping though. Also, for some reason when I ordered through premier, it forced me to upgrade from the 2GB to the 3GB data plan. Not a huge deal, its only $2.50 difference after my Premier discount. Figure I'll end up using more data on LTE anyway.

So I have been staring at the order status screen for the past few days like everyone else and I noticed something interesting in my order number. it starts with 1421-1045xxxxxx. 14th was the day the order was placed, with a hopeful delivery date of the 21st. the next four digets are about 15 minutes away from when i placed my order.

Does anyone else see a similar pattern with their order?

Black 64GB still on pending.

I ordered one phone and I have two pending charges on my credit card for the same amount. I'm sure one will disappear once everything is settled, but it's a little ridiculous.

You must not have seen the more options part, there was an option to stick with the 2GB data plan, the very first one that showed up though was the 3GB plan.
 
No movement on my Premier order overnight. Status is still "Preorder Processing" with a cancel button. Regular AT&T order status site still shows 1 under backorder. Still a pending charge on my credit card for the full amount, but I'm guessing that's going to drop off by the end of the day unless AT&T pushes it through.

Good theory, and I like the idea of trying to find a pattern here. But I placed my order around 4am ET 9/14 and the order# starts with 1504
 
Okay finally decided to put in my two cents. I say, don't worry. I ordered mine at exactly midnight on Friday (or 3 eastern), and got two emails immediately. The following day around one PM I got the text from AT&T. Last night around five I got my Customer Service Summary, and accepted it. There's still a hold on my Amex. There's no way I couldn't get my phone on Friday, and I'm sure that goes for many of you too, so stop worrying. I pre-ordered my 4 via AT&T and it was user back order the same day it arrived at my house. Their systems just don't know how to handle all the traffic. Mine still shows processing, and I don't have a tracking number. I wouldn't be surprised if I got one on Thursday night, just like many of you probably will. So it'll be okay. Everyone will get their phones. Well, not everyone but most of you. While Apple is much more transparent, (I ordered my 4S through them, AT&T will get you your phones on Friday. They ship them from locations in the country, in 2010 mine came from Texas. They're not coming from china. They'll be here on Friday! Be happy and enjoy your km few remaining days with your 4S. :p
 
I have to mention a few thoughts I'm having so maybe everyone can just be patient and not cancel their orders due to perceived inactivity on their orders.

Unlike Apple, these phones are not in AT&T's possession and so their statuses will show back ordered up to point of procurement (9/20).

Also, when you purchase a phone from AT&T, usually the new terms are accepted upon purchase.

If you ordered before 11:30 EST or thereabouts on 9/14, I think you're good.

I ordered at 8:30 am EST via mobile AT&T site. Got the initial email saying "as soon as 9/21" and then nothing until Sunday when I received an email about the changes in my cell phone plan. I have a FAN discount, but an individual log in so I'm premier, but not really.

I checked the line that I upgraded under the "profile" tab in my account management online and my end contract date is now 9/14/14.

I learned early on that AT&T will not take possession of the phones until 9/20 for those receiving them on launch day. Apple's stock is coming from China so it's easy to see very premature movement and status changes.

Long way to say, don't panic and cancel your orders just yet. Wait until Thursday to see what communication or status changes you see. Why jump ship when you don't even know for sure you're not going to get it on 9/21?
