I have the same problem.... I ordered around 8:30am on Friday the 14th and it says Order date 9/15.... Quantity in back order 1...WTF?

What phone did you order? I got the 64GB Black. I'm in the same boat as you. I did speak to the CSR and she informed me to go with the date on the original email and not on the regular ATT site. I asked if there was any hold or back-order status on my phone and she said no. I called again and got someone else and she didn't know why there was a discrepancy with the order date on both sites but said that I met the cutoff and should get my phone on time. I'm skeptical about this but I can only go by what the reps say. Positive thinking!

No later than 9:15 EDT Friday morning at an AT&T store.

I just saw the other order page for the first time today that everyone is referring to. Did it show anything other than "Pending Shipment"? I'm wondering if mine had a different info prior to pulling up that page. Was it "Processing" before "Pending Shipment"?

order cannot be canceled

if the phone system says your order is being processed for shipment and cannot be canceled, is this a good thing, or a don't-care? my order still says backordered=1

I thought I would share my experience. I ordered around 9:30 AM CST. I got the "reserved and should arrive Sept. 21". I receiced this email at exactly 10 am CST. I never received anything else. I do have a FAN account, although I can not login to the premier page. My order always had a 1 for backorder. It now just showed up as 0. Also, this was for a 64 black, this was also a upgrade (reduced price, not full price). Hang in here everyone! Also I was right on that noon PST deadline, hopefully it works out.

My order still says "processing" at the AT&T website and I called AT&T to ask what that actually meant. They said that meant that everything was done and it was waiting to ship. So, according to them... mine should arrive the 21st as promised.... hummmm we'll see... still a bit skeptical.

From the information gathered in this thread and others the only step from processing to shipped is that the qty back ordered changes to zero. The cancel button comes and goes.

You and I are very similar. I think we're both in. :D

If it hasn't shipped from China yet, I don't see it making it's way to the states in time, especially with all those phones that are currently waiting for a Friday delivery. Not saying it won't get there on Friday, but not looking good.

Well here's something strange. If I check my order on my Mac, Win-7 or iPad my order shows "Processing" for all items and shipping status. However using Safari on my iPhone 4 it shows "In Progress" for all items and "Pending Shipping" for shipping status.

How strange is that?

What phone system are you referring to?

When requesting info through chat, they eventually gave me a phone number to call to talk to one of their "order specialists". It asks you to enter your order number, gives you info about the order, and then gives you the option to speak to a "for reals live humanoid" (or something like that).

You're looking at two different order status pages.

"In Progress" and "Processing" are the same thing:

hmmmm ... i've never seen said cancel button on the order status webpage. does it normally appear on the same page that gives Backorder info, Pending Shipment status, etc?

I ordered my phone 9/14 around 8:30am EST. My order status says
Date Ordered: 09/15/2012

Apple PHO IPHONE 5 16GB BLK PHONE "In Progress" "Pending shipment".

qty back ordered 1....

I ordered around 5:45 AM Friday and mine is still processing as well. I called AT&T and they are pretty much clueless. Heck, I still haven't gotten a "terms and conditions" e-mail yet.

I ordered two 16Gbs about 7:30am PST. New customer - planning to move to AT&T from T-mobile.

Checking the order status page just brought up an error saying the order can't be found. Couple of hours on phone to customer service yielded the information that the order does exist, with an order date of Sunday 16th, and that yes it will probably be delayed a few weeks. No good to me as I have cancelled my existing service with effect Friday.

As much as I think it's nice that they give equal weighting to people who are just upgrading, I find it surprising that they don't do more to win new business. We're talking a $4000 sale over the 2 years.

I'm a free agent, and only chose AT&T because at the time I ordered, their website was proclaiming that it would be delivered on 21st.

Since then the lack of information and the frustrating customer service I've received has given me a chance to rethink (so a rethink was possible!)... and now I have cancelled, and i'm going to just go to our local Verizon store on Friday.

Yeah I hear you... my terms and conditions were received and accepted by 7:13am Pacific time. Who knows, I just didn't want to stand in line this time. Although the last time I did I had a wonderful time and made a lot of new friends!

Lesson learned.... never cancel until you have goods in hand.

It only takes a day to ship from China, assuming it goes though customs w/o issue. FedEx and UPS deliver "next day" packages from China everyday, not just launch day.

So there are only 2 possibilities

1) We aren't getting our iPhone5's on Friday.

Or...

2) They are shipping within the United States.

But is Pending Shipment the same as Processing for shipping status?

"Pending Shipment" is referring to when you'll get a tracking number. It is the status of when you'll get a tracking number.

"Processing" is referring to what is going on with your shipment. They are processing it for shipping. That is all.

Unfortunately, AT&T doesn't have more detailed status updates. Would it be nice to know more? Yeah, but it won't change when you'll get your iPhone.

The cancel button is on the page from the first link in your first email when you ordered.
