Ordered my 16gb black through Premier on the 14th at about 9:50am Eastern Time. Received an email a few minutes later with the order number and the email said "as soon as the 21st". Have been checking the status and it has gone from preorder pending to preorder processing. I am not able to check the status of the order through the regular AT&T site as it keeps giving me errors. I just called AT&T Premier and the guy said there was a delay in processing the order, but he said his system showed it was in the warehouse and that it WILL be delivered on the 21st. He said I will get a confirmation email when the phone leaves the warehouse. How about that...

Mine still says "Processing" on one AT&T order check site and on the other says "In progress"

My order date says 9/14. I ordered my phone in the store using direct fulfillment (store wasn't doing in the store preorders) around 915PM EST. I got an email from ATT saying shipping in 15-21 business days.

Now from what I gather no one or very few people on here see anything other then "Processing" or "In Progress" with some people reporting that ATT wont update the site with shipping info until Thursday. This actually make alot of since.

Apple apparently ships directly from their warehouse in China to people, and I would guess to the carriers as well. There might be a tracking number out there for shipment to the various carrier warehouses. Once the shipment of phones arrives in the one of the warehouses for the carriers it is then split up into the multiple individual personal orders. Given that no one is probably going to be update until Friday, that is probably and indication that there are enough ATT warehouses around the USA to do one-day FedEx shipping to any location.

By choosing ATT instead of Apple we miss the fun of tracking the phones all the way here from China but we should still get our phones on launch day or maybe Sat at the latest.

When I got my email saying 15 days I already anticipated missing launch and prepared myself. So if i get my phone I will be estatic but if I don't, oh well. I know to order from Apple next year right when the order period starts.

Anyway, this might have all already been said, not sure i didnt read all 95 pages. Is any other preorder thread this long, lol?

Mine actually says order date was on the 16th

I actually ordered mine @ 7:45am on the 14th.

Says "pending shipment / quantity ordered 1 / quantity back ordered 0"

Hope I get it this Friday :D

If it's not back ordered anymore, they've assigned you a phone. You should be good!

Back-Ordered just became "0" !!

I know that the back-order thing isn't a strong indicator of what's really going on with my order, but I figured I would share my last few days.

My timeline:

9/14/12 - 9:20AM EST - pre-ordered on the AT&T site (not Premier).
9/14/12 - 9:26AM EST - received email stating I'll receive iPhone 5 on 9/21/12.
9/14/12 - 12:50PM EST - received text stating that my preorder has been processed
9/18/12 - 3:45PMish EST - Back-Order quantity changed from "1" to "0" [Pending Shipment still]

HOWEVER... Checking UPS/FedEx using the reference tricks, I was still unable to obtain any tracking information just yet.

Also, I've concluded I am crazy for checking my status page so much and this thread so often. Yup. Crazy.

im not out of contract but i want a 5! :)

we have 2 iphone 4s on a family plan. i want to order the 5 as and added line to get the $199 price, which i can do from Apple or AT&T. t

he SIM change is tossing a loop in my plan. i want my existing 4s # to be transferred to the 5. the new # goes to the 4s which i am giving to our kid. yes, lucky kid.

stopped in an AT&T store where i was told just to swap the SIMs. well, that cant be done since they are different.

i am reading that i just need to NOT activate it when it arrives and visit a store front to explain what i want and they will assist me. do i have my plan straight here?

much thanks. later.

Yes, you could do that...or do what I did, which was to call AT&T as ask them to send me a NanoSIM card for the right number (which arrived today) that way when the new phone arrives I'll be ready with the right SIM card.

Usually when back ordered turns to 0 it's cause it's almost ready to ship. I always order my iPhone and once my back order goes to 0 the next day I get the tracking number, so it does mean something

Mine went to zero sunday - so should i be concerned that i don't have a tracking number - or should I just relax and wait until Wed or Thurs like everyone else?

Why does everyone act like they know the system when clearly AT&T doesn't even know the system.

Actually...i'm usually dealing with fedex ground... nevermind

I deal with FedEx and UPS on a DAILY basis, it's part of owning a business. Saturday delivery with UPS is extremely expensive FedEx will do free Saturday delivery on some of it's services given the sender requests it. All air and international shipments you'll still have to pay extra for. Even if it was ground the sender would have to specify Saturday shipment BEFORE sending the package.

In a nutshell if you don't get it on Friday just write it off until Monday and hope your status changes on their website over the weekend.

This is not Christmas, when they would be staffed for increased volume. Fedex averages 3.6 million packages a day and there will be at some estimates between 1 and 3 million more on Friday.

They will have extra staff on Friday just like Sprint, ATT, Verizon, Apple. They know what they are doing. It's about logistics after all.

I ordered my iPhone on friday through a friend that is a manager at an at&t store. I got all the confirmation e-mails saying that my phone was being processed. The money for the phone was put on hold on my account that day. Today i checked my back account and the money was no longer on hold and I didn't have any charges from at&t. Somebody told me that this type of thing usually happens, when you order through at&t. Is that true?

Data point:

My 64GB black non-premier order place at 5am est just went from 1 backorder to 1 ordered.

Earlier today I noticed the same phone was going to "ordered" for people who placed their order much later than me. So again, however these are being fulfilled it's not FIFO, but seems that if you recieved a "delivers on 9/21," promise when you ordered (again non-premier as premier as "as soon as") it looks like it will arrive on time.

so are there any premier folks who have had the 9/14 > 9/15 thing happen, order date shows 9/15 and your phone is NOT on backorder?

Yes...Ordered at 7:15 am est White 64 from AT&T Premier on the 14th..the other status site shows the 15th. About 10 p.m. last night my backorder changed to 0...BUT I never had my CC processed-not a pending, nothing! Like most have 2 different order numbers, the original in my email from Premier and now when I click on status, it says it doesn't exist. BUT when I put in other status system by using my cell phone (no other number works) it shows in process with a completely different number..seems like we all have different situations. BTW, AT&T reps who have looked into my order said it stills says 14-21 days even though out of backorder!
Date Ordered: 09/15/2012

In Progress/Back Order 0/Pending Ship

In other words, it looks like this?

I ordered my phone though AT&T's site at 4am on Friday. I received my confirmation email, but it did not include a delivery date. I still show "Processing" on the AT&T Order Status site. I'm guessing we won't see a real change to this status until Thursday?
