Look, I've been reading this thread and see it's largely devoid of any actual hard info, so take this with an entire salt shaker...

I am Premier (ugh), ordered at 7:45am ET on 9/21, got only the one confirmation email, and have a pending debit on my charge card. I just got off the phone with a supervisor in the retention department, in my experience one of the most informed at AT&T customer service. He researched this order for a while, and it looks like Premier customers who ordered on 9/14 but who's status shows a 9/15 order date are in the 14-21 day order queue.

Even more frustrating, I asked him to cancel my order--to go to Apple Store or Radio Shack instead--and he was unable to even do that. I'm waiting for the rep to call me back before 6pm ET today with an update on the cancellation request, which of course impacts my upgrade eligibility and being able to get a subsidized phone in a bricks and mortar store.

I am in the exact same boat as you are. Same but I ordered 2 phones. Apparently AT&T is going to make me wait for my order, then return the phones back to them. This could be a month or longer. Not good. :mad:
 
If it's not back ordered anymore, they've assigned you a phone. You should be good!

Never Received An Email

I ordered 16GB Black on Friday around 10:30am EST (The site still said delivered on the 21st). I never got an email confirming my order but my card was charged minutes later. I then received an text saying: "Congratulations! Your preorder has been processed. You will be notified when your order has shipped." My order status on AT&Ts website showed and continues to show "processing". I then get an email today including a link to download my Customer Service Summary, which provides details on my updated voice and data plans.

I still felt a little uncomfortable so I just chatted with an online "person" and she said: "Thank you for waiting, your preorder has been processed and sent to the warehouse. Your order will ship based on the shipping expectations that were set at the time you placed your order. The ship date for your order is 9/20/12. You will receive an email with the ship tracking information so you can review the status of your shipment directly from the carrier."

She couldn't tell me why I never got an email but I feel pretty comfortable I'll get my phone on Friday despite ordering pretty late.

Anyone else not receive an email?
 
great! one of my orders (black16) just changed from 1 to 0. all good now! (ordered a little over the cut off time). so much for my fighting spirit! :)


now i'm just waiting for the white16. i heard all white iPhones are coming from china?? but all black16 are already in US.

Hm I'm not so sure if what she was saying is entirely true. Some people on here who ordered on the 14th and whos dates show up for the 15th and 16th, have gotten their back ordered number cahnged to zero. From what I read on this thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1444002/ apparently if that happens, they've assigned you a phone and it will be delivered to you on friday.
 
How recently did your back order go to zero? With my order occurring only a few minutes after yours I'm hoping I'm nearing the front of the line to come off back order.

I just checked the status today so I can't even tell you if I was ever on back up order.

I ordered my black 32GB at 7:15 EST on Premier and, although every order status page lists Sept 14th, I still am backordered. I assume that anyone still back ordered by now will not be getting their phone on Friday.

If you check your order status through the Premier site is the "cancel order" button not there anymore? They should allow you to cancel it if it hasn't shipped or about to ship.

Mine was ordered 9/14 and shows 9/15 but my backordered quantity went to 0 this morning. So either the guy you spoke to don't know either, or I'm still not getting one on the 21st. But from reading people's past experience going from 1 to 0 seems to be a positive thing.

yea i know it's kinda weird. it makes me wonder how att processes their orders. i honestly thought my orders will never make it on friday but hey, i just saw an activity. now i'm crossing fingers for my white16.
 
No movement on my Premier order overnight. Status is still "Preorder Processing" with a cancel button. Regular AT&T order status site still shows 1 under backorder. Still a pending charge on my credit card for the full amount, but I'm guessing that's going to drop off by the end of the day unless AT&T pushes it through.

Ordered 64GB black, 5:00am PST on 9/14, Premier.

Mine is still the same as well and I'm in Chandler. What I did notice today was my bank is holding the funds until 9/20 so maybe I get lucky, they release the funds to AT&T and I get my phone on Friday...
 
Well if I have to wait then that's fine but if it wasn't for this forum I would assume my phone is coming on Friday due to the email I received from ATT on last Friday when I ordered the phone. They need to start updating people there orders have slipped, then atleast you know your phone isn't coming on Friday.
 
I placed my order for the iphone 5 at 2:48AM CDT, which is 2 hours ahead of PST. So I received a confirmation that my order was placed, and that I had signed the contract online. My understanding was: those who placed successful purchases online within the first 2 hours should be receiving their phones on the 21st. However, I have called AT&T several times and they cannot tell me when I will receive it. Today they said I should expect it within 14 to 21 days, which is bulllshit! My online status has been holding at Processing....

Same for me. Ordered at 2:03 CST. At&t rep told me 14-21 days which I also think is BS since I was one of the FIRST orders...still have processing on order, CC is pending, and still have 1 under backorder!

Here is the story:


I tried ordering at 9/21 ~2:02AM CST, ATT premier and Apple.com gave me ton of errors, I couldn't place my order.

I was able to put my order in at ATT Premier website around 7AM CST. Received my confirmation email in 1hr.

No email-phone calls since than.

In ATT Premier website my status shows "Status: Preorder Processing" and "Date Ordered: 09/14/2012"

If I check it on ATT Order status link given here several times, it shows "Pending Shipment" for tracking number, and "0" for "qty backordered". But date ordered is 09/16/2012????

Anyone else getting different order dates?

What does Pending Shipment mean? I couldn't talk to any rep yet, waiting time is crazy. :confused:

samething is happening to me

I ordered my iPhone on friday through a friend that is a manager at an at&t store. I got all the confirmation e-mails saying that my phone was being processed. The money for the phone was put on hold on my account that day. Today i checked my back account and the money was no longer on hold and I didn't have any charges from at&t. Somebody told me that this type of thing usually happens, when you order through at&t. Is that true?

i just checked my cc account and i dont have a charge or pending anymore

Another concern for us ATT folks is that Apple sold out in the first hour, there are people that ordered at 4:05am EST on Apple and there ship dates are in Oct, most of us on here ordered after this from ATT, I wonder if Apple is holding back shipments to the carriers to fill there orders first, they make a lot more money off the phones when they sell it as opposed to the carrier.

AM or PM? If AM don't assume anything yet. At least give it until late tomorrow night. You are well within ATT's original "cut off" time of 9am pacific.
