I went into an ATT store today to ask about why i was unable to recieve voicemails anymore and the conversation came up about mms and what the manager told me was that ATT is 100% ready and has been ready for mms for some time but are just waiting to flip the switch. Why would they wait if they were ready!

He was prolly feeding you bs just to get you outta there.

thats exactly what they are doing. they have no clue what they are talking about. hahaha. call 611 and ask why MMS isnt ready yet, lol! they have no clue.

Hahahaha apple didnt even know that June 17th is not summer and they said that 3.0 would be released in the summer.......so apple saying "late summer" doesnt mean much...

It not about when it was printed (stated) on the Calender. Summer is June, July August, Fall is Sept. , Oct, and Nov.. Winter is Dec, Jan and Feb. Spring is Mar, Apr, May... always has been.. That how farming, plaints and animals do things. Also how the earth turns around the sun...

Yeah I wish ATT was as easy as Sprint. With Sprint you can have your way.

An AT&T rep. told my sister that 3G is coming to our area later this month. When hell freezes over I'll believe it. I can barely get EDGE service where I live.

There will be no slow rollout, it will go live the day that Apple releases iPhone OS 3.1. That will have the official carrier update which will allow it all to work.

There are a huge amount of iphones out there and they send decent quality pics. Thats why AT&T is slow with this, it will kill their network.

I heard July17th though...

Okay, neither of you have anything to back this up. The OS 3.1 has nothing to do with getting MMS. All that's needed is a carrier update and that doesn't need to happen by a new OS. AT&T said "late" summer. They may do the carrier update earlier, but the July 17 date is pure speculation and just someone throwing out a date.

I called earlier today and after about 20 minutes got them to activate mms on my plan by setting up the non-iphone txt plan. The supervisor was very nice and said that the general public mms update is this August as far as she has been told.

no it wasnt.
Yes it was, then it was taken out for the GM release. That's when we found out that MMS would be turned on through carrier files depending on which Cellular Carrier you had around the world.

+1

It's aggravating how people really don't know jack. 3.0 already brought MMS so 3.1 can bring MMS all it wants but it's AT&T's choice to go through with it or not.
QFT. The reality is AT&T can release MMS in 30 seconds or 30 days, they have the power to turn it on through a carrier file.

I think the point people are trying to make is that yes, Apple introduced MMS into the iPhone OS with 3.0 yet AT&T wasn't ready for it which is why the camera button wasn't present in the Messages app.

In 3.1 (beta, so far) the camera button is there. Logic would dictate that if they took it out for the final release of 3.0 then put it back for the beta of 3.1, the actual public release is going to closely relate to the activation of the MMS service or be directly linked.

That's my logic anyway. Discuss.

Your logic is almost flawless. Not.

I'm not sure myself but I don't think Apple and AT&T have each other on speed dial. I also don't think someone from Apple phoned AT&T and asked if it was "OK" to put the camera button back or if they were ready for it yet.

I like how you can discuss without being a pompous dick. Not.

So by your logic Apple would just stick the feature back into the messaging program *hoping that AT&T would be ready for it this time? Or is it that Apple is planning their release dates around AT&T's (in)ability to handle this revolutionary new feature?

Yeah your logic is a lot better.

Does 3.1 have the MMS icon? or would it be comming out on 3.2?

After MMS I want a 5 mega pixel cam lol Or if my iphone could make me money I'd call it the intelligent phone.
