When they say late summer, they mean LATE summer.
Don't expect MMS until September. Seriously.
Did they say "late summer"?
I could have sworn they said "later this summer"

Apple said:MMS support from AT&T coming in late summer.
late summer...
I went into an ATT store today to ask about why i was unable to recieve voicemails anymore and the conversation came up about mms and what the manager told me was that ATT is 100% ready and has been ready for mms for some time but are just waiting to flip the switch. Why would they wait if they were ready!
He was prolly feeding you bs just to get you outta there.
Hahahaha apple didnt even know that June 17th is not summer and they said that 3.0 would be released in the summer.......so apple saying "late summer" doesnt mean much...
There will be no slow rollout, it will go live the day that Apple releases iPhone OS 3.1. That will have the official carrier update which will allow it all to work.
There are a huge amount of iphones out there and they send decent quality pics. Thats why AT&T is slow with this, it will kill their network.
I heard July17th though...
Watch them release MMS in Feb 2010
come on cut Apple some slack...they just released the revolutionary Cut, Copy and Paste.
Because the icon was there for all the 3.0 betas too.I have zero faith in AT&T, however i do believe that 3.1 might finally bring MMS....why else would the icon be there?...
Because the icon was there for all the 3.0 betas too.
+1Because the icon was there for all the 3.0 betas too.
no it wasnt.
but why would they wait that late seriously if i was apple id be pissed
Yes it was, then it was taken out for the GM release. That's when we found out that MMS would be turned on through carrier files depending on which Cellular Carrier you had around the world.no it wasnt.
QFT. The reality is AT&T can release MMS in 30 seconds or 30 days, they have the power to turn it on through a carrier file.+1
It's aggravating how people really don't know jack. 3.0 already brought MMS so 3.1 can bring MMS all it wants but it's AT&T's choice to go through with it or not.
I think the point people are trying to make is that yes, Apple introduced MMS into the iPhone OS with 3.0 yet AT&T wasn't ready for it which is why the camera button wasn't present in the Messages app.
In 3.1 (beta, so far) the camera button is there. Logic would dictate that if they took it out for the final release of 3.0 then put it back for the beta of 3.1, the actual public release is going to closely relate to the activation of the MMS service or be directly linked.
That's my logic anyway. Discuss.
Your logic is almost flawless. Not.
I'm not sure myself but I don't think Apple and AT&T have each other on speed dial. I also don't think someone from Apple phoned AT&T and asked if it was "OK" to put the camera button back or if they were ready for it yet.
