I think a lot of us are upset that we are paying $95 a month and not getting what we all pay for. Compared to other carriers $95 almost gets everything unlimited Minutes, text +MMS

But you agreed to pay $95 before MMS was available. It will be shortly and all will be right with the world. OK fine, maybe not all.

No I understand that. Apple did their part on bringing it to ATT customers but ATT holds the release of MMS and cant give us a reason why. Its like they're dicking us around. We know the phone can get MMS because people have already played with their configuration and can now get MMS

Can't say I'm happy... That's for sure.

they did give you a reason. there was a block placed on every iphone account because the iphone did not support mms. they now how to go back and manually remove those blocks for every account. they also need extra time to install the very large equipment order they made to support the extra traffic they are expecting.

Especially when everyone else in the world had MMS available from launch day.

AT&T can say all they want about it being a manual process, but the reality it the block could probably removed in several hours by a batch process program . No chance AT&T is going into accounts 1 by 1 to fix this.....plus they have known since March about this and should have been upgrading their network since then to handle the traffic. At&T screwed this up plain and simple.

For what it is worth, I went to a local At&T store yesterday and was told MMS will be active for At&T when 3.1 is released and that should be within the next 2 weeks

Just because 3.1 comes with the new "official" carrier file that enables the MMS camera button, doesn't necessarily mean that the carrier file won't be distributed via iTunes prior to 3.1 launch. They have distributed carrier file updates via iTunes before, without a rev bump to the OS.

It was the update for the 3G MicroCell Network.

thats exactly what they are doing. they have no clue what they are talking about. hahaha. call 611 and ask why MMS isnt ready yet, lol! they have no clue.

i did like last week they said since the iphone dosent use media net but instead uses safari that they had to FIGURE OUT a way to make mms work" lol

Hey whats up, its your friendly neighborhood ATT mobility rep...

This is what we are hearing too...

With 3.1 the "block" that we remove you can start to mms..

mms block, which is in fact on almost all of the phones because of what ever the initial provisioning with 3g did because there was no mms, and to fix errors they blocked it...

and to answer the dude who was saying that it wont take long to remove each block on the phone.... ya get some common sense... att has million + iphone users... my guess is 95% are 3g or newer... meaning.. att would have to access each account... notate why their are accessing the account(per FCC regulations) remove the feature, and move on the next....

so its not like they can open their special window and type: "Run: RemoveMMS All iphone accounts" <enter>

not quite that simple!!

there is no auto process, it's all manual. It's not like you can simply write a script for it.

They are also still working on installing the very large equipment order they placed to support the extra mms workload.

Can I ask a question really quick?

Why was every other iPhone carrier ready for the 3.0 launch, but it was too hard fo AT&T?

I think AT&T could have prepared better. They must have known that the iPhone would eventually get MMS. They should have a better system in place.

I'm pretty sure every other carrier had an MMS block on the iPhone as well (for viewmymessage). I think AT&T are just making excuses for not being ready. I think it's crappy of them. They had months to activate the MMS on the iPhone during the 3.0 beta.

I still personally have a hard time accepting that Apple can't make the first gen iPhone and MMS work. I had MMS on my Nokia 6230 for 4 years before I got the iPhone. So there seems to be a lot of unfortunate things going on here with MMS.

Really? How big is this extra MMS workload going to be considering everywhere else in the world MMS for the iphone was ready on launch day?

o2 had a block on MMS for iphones, after 3.0 was released I just sent a text with the word MMS in it and mms was enabled in minutes(just checked my messages, 11 mins it took)

I guess AT&T isn't the smartest company. Heh. I'm glad Apple chose AT&T though because T-Mobile sucks in my area, so it's pretty much AT&T or nothing... So I choose AT&T by default.

ATT does not appreciate the gold rush that the iPhone has given them. I can't wait for the day that there is competition.

AT&T customer service is a joke. I have never talked to a less informed crew. That guy has no idea what he was talking about. And neither does the guy in the post yesterday. Clueless, all of them!

ATT is running a Ponzi scheme. Them jokers take my money but provide no service.

That shouldnt make a difference. It is Apples job to make sure it is compatible with AT&T's MMS. AT&T just sucks!

T-Mobile may not be the biggest but their customer service is A-1.

It does make a difference, AT&T can turn it on, but there is no MMS button. Gonna go live when 3.1 comes out!

Ok lets sum some things up about this mms thing. Att is not 100% ready for mms and is why it has been delayed. 3.1 is still in beta and there are some bugs still with sending mms. Like example allot of user sending mms like to send more than one picture. I get errors doing this all the time.

There is allot of thing that have to be taking into consideration before att just says ok lets let it go. They want to make sure its going to work great before letting it loose in a bad state getting more complaints than they are now.

Also its not just a Block feature the system is set up to only allow some device do mms. You can add a feature and remove a block all day but if the system sees a device on its network that is net set to support mms it may not work.

Those have gotten mms to work may consider them self lucky.

There is so much to take into account that all people know how to do is complain.

Lets be honest.

Att wants one main thing MONEY...... They would rather it work and get more money than it not work and mess the whole network to array.

So for all of you complaining just zip it.... either jail break and try a carrier update or just wait for the correct release and not void the warranty. Either way when they do let it work it will work right and not iffy like it is now.

Good Day
P.S.
I hate the company as much as you guys do but come lets be real there is sometimes a major reason a company will not launch some things.

See the thing is it is on ATT side, even us beta testers on 3.1 can't send MMS the carrier files aren't working for me on 3.1 even though while on 3.0 I was sending MMS the whole beta testing time.
