Yes Meterologists go by climate to dictate season. The actual seasons when the axial tilt move from a +/-. The climate has "lag".

The Lag of the Seasons

The preceding reasoning for the causes of the seasons is idealized. In reality, we know that the seasons "lag": for example, the hottest temperatures in the Summer usually occur a month or so after the time of maximum insolation (the time when maximum solar energy is deposited during a day at a point on the surface of the Earth). This is because the Earth and its atmosphere store heat (the oceans are particularly effective heat sinks). Thus, a detailed description of the seasons is quite complicated since it must take into account complex local variations in the storage of solar energy. However, the basic reason for the seasons is simple, as described above.

Seasons lag

You know what? whatever. Farmers go by mouths. Nature goes by months and other things go by months.. So why would At&t be any difference?.. I known companies to go by June, July and Aug as Summer as so as others.. But hey you want to go by the Northern Hemisphere all the power to you.. But other things run by months not by dates.. I guess the 3.0 didn't come out in the summer if we go by the Northern Hemisphere... See even Apple is goes by months and not by dates lol..

AT&T isn't a bunch of farmer now are they? Last time I check even farmers used astrological signs for crop planting/harvesting. Just because they have a rule of them on the months doesn't make it the seasons. Then again I don't have the rest of my life to teach you astrology.

Oh and nature doesn't know what month it is. The trees don't go "Hey it September let's start turning out leaves colors!"

So I guess Apple lied but 3.0 coming out the beginning of Summer then?.. Because if Companies go by dates then it was end of Spring if you go by the Northern Hemisphere.. To me it looks like Apple goes by months. So they see June, July and Aug as SUMMER..

Funny because Sept is when trees do start to change leaves colors. Also birds start mating in spring and that in the first week of march...

If they said spring and it come out in summer people would have caused a stink wouldn't they. It was a time frame not a set date. Are you that dense?

I successfully got 80% of my friends to switch to the iPhone. However, unless we all unlock MMS with the various techniques out there, it really doesn't do me much good until AT&T throws the switch. Isn't MMS already working on 3.0 on non-AT&T networks? It's not Apple, it's AT&T.

if 80% of my friends were iphone users, we would not need MMS, just free email.

From what I remember it was Apple that never wanted to support MMS. Apple not supporting MMS caused ATT to make a new iPhone specific text plan.

It's not as easy to implement on millions of accounts all at once, they have to test it before it goes live.

i would consider the hundreds of people hacking their carrier files and changing their messaging plans as testers...

it is also ridiculous how a debate about MMS turns into an argument over what defines a season.

another thing. the beta of 3.1 points to a release of MMS with the release of 3.1. Why? because 3.1 beta came with an updated carrier file, so it would make sense that AT&T would use this to release MMS. no hacked carrier files, only AT&T released ones

Yes they are testers, kind of. ATT knows it works, but they have to test all the scripts they will run to update every iphone account.

I agree, 3.1 will have mms all ready to go. I also think end of July early August is when this will be released.

Just because 3.1 comes with the new "official" carrier file that enables the MMS camera button, doesn't necessarily mean that the carrier file won't be distributed via iTunes prior to 3.1 launch. They have distributed carrier file updates via iTunes before, without a rev bump to the OS.

wait i did not get the camera icon back in SMS app after upgrading to b3.1, and also there is no option to turn it on! i am currently running the tethering hack could that have something to do with it

MMS Working

I have MMS on my iPhone running 3.1 beta. I changed my account from an iPhone texting plan to regular messaging plan.

I switched mine too but it doesn't work. Am I missing something? I used to be able to send MMS. I keep checking the account and it still says unlimited messages but not on iPhone plan.

Yeah...mostly...though some of them are very nice people

agreed, in my experience with ATT's lack of iPhone knowledge they have made it up in one way or another. For example, last week I went to apple's website to order my 3GS under the assumption I would get it at the discounted "new contract" price, since I got my 3G last July. However, this wasnt the case, the site was asking $499 for the 32GB. I called ATT and the lady wasn't sure how to rectify it but did know that she could credit my ATT account, which she did, to the tone of $202 .....very nice.

I got the last carrier file update (4.0) for iTunes, so I don't know why some people think the 3.1 launch will have anything to do with AT&T having MMS ready.

iphone 3g

ive read reports that MMS wil be only for the 3gs. then i read a leaked AT&T email saying MMS will be activated for 3g. does anyone know for sure?

what reports? they're bogus.

MMS was a feature in the keynote before the announcement of the 3GS...MMS will work on 3G.

The 2G will not have MMS, but the 3G and 3GS will.

The poster probably just misread the article he was reading. Fairly common, like those who state "later this summer" for MMS. As far as the 2G goes, I've read that people have been able to hack it to get MMS. I'm not sure if anyone's been able to get earlier iPhones hacked.

I think a lot of us are upset that we are paying $95 a month and not getting what we all pay for. Compared to other carriers $95 almost gets everything unlimited Minutes, text +MMS
