This woman is TOUGH. I'm being very blunt and adamant about it this time though.

EDIT: On hold, she said it can be a 10 minute wait.

One person has to say yes to you. You've been trying all night!

My one attempt failed and I gave up.

So I'm getting the full upgrade not available thing. So does that mean if I pay the normal phone price plus the $250 my contract will renew as of tomorrow? AKA does that mean I won't be upgradeable again for iPhone 5 assuming it comes out next year...

I'm pretty annoyed I'm on the same account as my brother and he gets full upgrade I don't....

Apparently she spoke to her supervisor and they can't do ANYTHING for me. I just realized she probably lied to me and I should have asked to speak to her supervisor.

At this point, I'd pay the $300 to never talk to these people again.

They've probably noted how many times you called.

This has probably already been covered but I'm not about to go searching through a bunch of threads to find it. I really want to pre-order the 4S but was wondering if they're going to give me the option of keeping my unlimited data plan. Will it be an option or do you not even pick one and it defaults to the unlimited. This is my first time pre-ordering so I don't know how it goes. To those of you who went through this last year with your iPhone 4 and have grandfathered unlimited plans, what did you go through? Thanks for any help!

Just port your number to another carrier when you preorder.

They might make you pay a hefty ETF but if you had the iphone 4 it's probably less then $250 I bet it is like $160. You could always argue that they changed your contract when they forced everyone to get the mobile to mobile calling plan.

My line was on a iPhone 4 from launch day and has been eligible for full upgrade for a month or so, I just switched the line to my original iPhone this morning to have a phone for a week to use.

Now I check my eligibility upgrade date it says 12/24 OMFGGGAYYY

anyone else as dumb as me?

Probably, but I was honest about everything. Told her I spoke to others, I know their policies and I want to know if they can do anything for me because it's cheaper to pay $175 and switch carriers than $250 for the upgrade.

Whatever, I gave it my all. I believe I played my cards right on each call, just got the wrong reps. I should have asked to speak with a supervisor this time, I'm just too drained to think 100% right now.

On to deciding whether I want black or white. :p

Thanks for the ongoing play by play. Fwiw, you're not alone in it not working out. Save your upgrade for the iPhone 6 imo.

Paying $250

Since this is my current favorite thread, does anyone here know if the plastic bezel around the white phone gets dirty? I know the glass parts should be ok. Only other thing that bothers me about white is the thin black border around the screen being more prominent.

An unused upgrade is like walking away from $100 bill laying on the street. You shouldn't leave it unused for too long or you're just wasting money.

Yeah it will if you don't clean your hands. This holds true for any other device anyway.

They are banking on people like us (not all) to cave and just pay the $250 premium. I'm going to cave, I'm pissed but I like new gadgets and don't want to break the tradition of getting it on the first day every year. Yeah I know that sounds stupid.

are any of you guys currently logged into at&t and waiting for when it goes live? or are you just waiting at the login until it goes live then sign on?

You're eligible on 11/25 but you'll pay $250 extra instead of waiting 5 1/2 weeks?

11/18 and yes because I don't like to wait for things I've been looking forward to for so long. Also for peace of mind of having it reserved and not having to worry about it being sold out when I'm eligible. You never know.

I'm with you 100%. Most people don't understand it. :p

yeah, decisions like that are why so many people have credit issues. Not wise.

I only spend what I have in the bank. Not saying I wasn't stupid with credit cards when I was younger, but now I don't even own one.

Same here; same date for me and same reasons even though I'm kind of meh about this update.

I admittedly am very irresponsible with my credit card. I certainly should not buy this but certain things are expected expenses every year. iPad, iPhone, property tax, technet subscription, computer updates, car payments, and anything else with yearly renewals. So bad I know.

I have 2 lines mine & my wife purchased iphone 4 for both of us prelaunch last year.

Apple upgrade check says my line eligible but my wife not till 2/2012.

SO some are saying in about 20 minutes my wife line will also be eligible?

I figure if it doesnt change to this I will call the 611 on my iphone and request the credit or inquire about ETF... so I can calculate my lowest cost option to get us both the 4s now.

It will be the default option and will be auto selected for you. Don't worry.

I've also called multiple times tonight with no luck. We are on a family plan and one phone (the "primary" phone) is upgrade eligible now, and the others aren't until 02/25/2012.

These people can get rude and straight up lie. One supervisor insisted it's impossible to ever upgrade early even though one line *is already eligible* early AND we've upgraded all previous iPhones on release day. :(

Someone please give me hope. Has *anyone* been able to get lines eligible for upgrade on 2/25/2012 moved up?

Pretty sure I read about some 2/25s being moved up.

Its still not a wise decision to spend an extra $250 when you don't have to. You're spending over $7/day for 35 days to have the phone 35 days earlier. That's a nice lunch every day for over a month.
