Just what I was thinking. :D

Flash doesn't work well on Macs = Flash is bad.
So - time to drop iTunes until the lazy programmers sort their stuff out?
As you say no one will miss it anyway if they use HTML5.

Apple has to shut up about Adobe making sloppy programs for the Mac, anyways. I mean, have you ever tried running iTunes or Safari on Windows?

At least you '09 users have 64bit kernel support with your EFI64. I have an original Mac Pro (which still runs awesomely) and it sadly only has 32bit EFI. I think that's pretty lame. I'm severely limited on graphics options because of this.

I'm in the same boat, but I've got a 4890 on order after reading the threads here on making it work. Might be worth considering :)

What does this now mean for Macbook Pro's?

I am begining to think it was a good idea that I didn't wait and just went with a 17 inch Macbook Pro last summer.

I kinda had a feeling that new technology like this could've been a problem at the begining. Now I can continue to enjoy my Macbook Pro, just like I have for the past 8 months.

this prove without a shadow of a doubt, that windows is more green than OS X when listening to music and doing audio processing. Country should tax apple computer more, because they are less efficient, like they tax the old light bulbs.

I can't believe that Apple won't acknowledge this flaw in the new Mac Pros... so much for them being the "#1" in computer customer service.

Glad to see this getting some press...not that Apple cares about its high end users...

I've wanted to get an 8 core Mac Pro for a while now just so I can run iTunes.

:p

I really hate to say this but it doesn't surprise me in the least. I've owned two macs now, a 13" MB and my current 17" MBP, and they've both experienced serious issues which are clearly design faults that Apple doesn't want to acknowledge and resolve.

The MB suffered the cracked palm rest o' doom which, on the second replacement in less than a year, the Genius said was a design flaw where there was nothing supporting the palm rest where the top case met the bottom and the 'rubbing strips' were simply breaking the case. He admitted it wasn't going to be resolved and it was a good job the machine had Applecare.

The MBP... jesus this has been the WORST computer I've ever owned by a mile. It's been back to the Genius bar on about six occasions now, most importantly for a swollen battery which Apple REFUSED to admit was a manufacturing defect until I started reading the riot act (in the UK they don't have a legal leg to stand on with that issue). The replacement battery has lasted six months and now shorts out occasionaly going from 90% charge and 94% health to 0% charge and, once the mains cable's back in, 12% health in an instant. Oh, and 'Genius' involved in the case reckoned it was something in OS X causing it and I should reinstall my OS...

I do think Apple have got their laptop line if not fixed then at least to a far better level of quality than the machines I've used (2006 MB and 2007 MBP) but there's still far too many issues sneaking through in their computer line that really should be caught and recalled (27" iMac anyone?). Such a shame, I love the OS, I love the design but I'm struggling to justify another one.

Apple Better Fix this issue!

I have also noticed my Mac Pro early 2009 has issues playing Vimeo files in 3 different browsers. Seriously Apple, I bought this powerful machine so I wouldnt have to deal with sluggishness. FIX IT.

I guess when steve said iCEO back in 2004, that should have been a sign of the iCEO loving only iPhones, iPods, iPads....... I pray they fix this with gulftown refresh

don't get me wrong - my iPhone is handy, and i love my iPod, but I spend most of my time in front of the computer. to me, the phone and mp3 player are just toys, and i can do without toys...

Screw Apple, build your own computer then Hackint0sh it. At least you will know it works good.

i've got a little netbook in the post... then if that works all ok, i will seriously consider building a desktop system. it seems a number of dissatisfied customers are leaning this way in the last year or 2.

It's particularly pronounced when using safari on any page with sound. Good luck opening a new window without seeing a minute or two of beachball...

Yeah I was waiting for a real "tablet" then the iPad came along, I was like funk that. I'm getting a Dell 10V. Every works great on that. I'm getting it with the blue-tooth and wi-fi N upgrade for $299, then just up the memory and I'm set. I'm tired of waiting around for Apple to get it together.

Those are exact same problems I have with my macbook, minus the battery going from 94% to 0. I paid extra compare to other machines, and treated it like gold, and now with all its problems it's just connected to the monitor 100% of the time because of the swollen battery. Did your battery press against the palm rest, causing the slightest touch to register as a click? The battery doesn't fit anymore, but when it was less swollen I couldn't type on it because the slightest touch to the palm rest would take click away from where I was typing, making it impossible.

glad I got an early `08 instead of an early `09!

that's...craziness.

I've never had the temps on my 8-core 08 go more than 4-5 degrees above "idle" temps. It's the coolest computer I've ever used, literally.

The loudest sound it makes is when the hard drive wakes up from sleep and makes a 'click" sound in the morning.

I regularly use 800% processor for an hour or two at a time with handbrake encodes or 3D renders, but again, nothing more than 4-5 degrees C above idle even at full load.

Apple needs to respond about this...especially since the problems go away under bootcamp. that's a huge red flag!

It really is disappointing to hear Apple take the road of denial on this one.

I dont own a 2009 Mac Pro, but It sure as hell has put me off even considering a 2010 model.

When will companies like Apple get it about customer service. Now its making the front pages they will act... but too late in my opinion.

My respect for Apple just dropped down a notch.. and it affects their other products too.. do I really want to buy a Rev A iPad from a company that is

a) renown for poor Rev A versions of their hardware

b) in denial over support issues like this

Makes you think twice doesnt it....
