This is your "circular stamp"

It's on the bottom of most cardboard boxes.

Aside from that doesn't apple usually send stuff out as ACI and not have any logos or indication to lay-persons that the box is from apple?

I think it is real.

However there is no iphone or other electrical device in the box. It is all marketing material. The circular stamp is from the Shang Hai Group which specialise in printing material.

A person who works in an Apple Premium Reseller in the UK, said:

"We often receive packages with similar markings from Apple.
They just turn out to be advertising materials."

"We get boxes that look really similar to this every now and then.
I remember we got an iPod Nano marketing-stand-demo-thing in a box that looked basically the same as this, just a different size. Personally, I think it could definitely be a real.... something"

It's not the phone but just only all marketing related papers.

Maybe this was already mentioned - but I dont think Apple would put their logo/address on a box that was confidential right before a major release. Smells like BS to me.

Contains: DVD box and brochure. In the DVD box: OS X Snow Leopard for ordinary PCs.

You missed the post above saying the 9th is a Public Holiday in Australia, so there is no mail service that day.

Plus, I'm sure the only way you would really truly know if Apple shipped sensitive packages with the Apple logo on it or not is if you worked for them. I doubt it, but if you do and you know first hand, then fine. Otherwise I wouldn't make such broad and definitive statements based on the fact that Apple is "secretive."

In the US, packages can be delivered on holidays (for extra fee).

Says it's not allowed to be opened...Doesn't say anything about using an X-ray machine! Just brake your leg, tape the box to your leg for 'support' then go to the hospital, as soon as you get your X-ray's done, grab them, and hop away like a mad man.

I can't believe some of you are actually thinking this is real.

That's the worst hoax attempt ever. There's more of a chance of an iphone being in the tissue box that was posted.

haha someone ALWAYS opens the box. Though they may wait until midnight of that day to do it, they still open it prematurely. I can see that happening, maybe we'll see some pics in the morning b4 wwdc or something?

I hope not. Despite the fact that I have giant ants in my pants (siafu to be exact), I honestly rather wait. I wanna see the whole keynote and slowly get insight on the future product(s) as I hang on to Steve's every word. It's the only way. It's the best way. Just looking at it in some box ruins the whole thing.

We X-rayed the box and found what was in it... it's Apple's greatest triumph to date - and it's BACK!

yes - it's the CUBE!

ready for the 21st century

(N.B. Cube contains original G4 CPU and dodgy power button)

So if this package is sent to someone in Australia, we can get a sneak peek hours before the keynote, since its the whole time difference. No where does it state that it has to be opened on June 10 Pacific Time. ;)

There is a 50/50 possibility that this is BS. Seems the individual was excited that he put the label at the bottom of the box. :D

I say it's a fake. For one, you wouldn't write that message on the shipping label. Two, why would it just be on a simple paper print out. Apple would have probably printed it on a tape that wrapped and secured the box so that there wouldn't be any argument if that message wasn't on there.

Losing your status as an Apple Authorized reseller?

arn

Opening the box is not so bad as reporting that you did. Once you actually open the box, the temptation to open the iPhone box inside of that is large. Then the tempation to power on the iPhone is large. Then the iPhone reports its existence to the network, and, BOOM, bye bye AAR status.

Rocketman

It's worth it! :)

I'm not supposed to say anything, but I will say that those boxes may be legit. I am a private Apple product tester (I've already seen the iPhone 3g first hand) and they occasionally send me newly released or announced products to check over for any last minute issues before they are released to the general public. I just got this box myself, I'm thinking it may be the final iPhone 3g, either that or Steve has something else up his sleeve for WWDC.

I attached hi-res shots of the box. (updated to remove barcodes)

If it's subject to an NDA, anyone opening the box would get their asses sued big time. Resellers have enough problems as it is. I don't know why Apple would do that, and not courier them on Monday night or something. Still, damn you MacRumors for posting this, I have just been pushed over the excitement threshold. Monday cannot come soon enough!

This has got to be fake. First of all you have to SIGN a NDA to be covered under one. A Cell Phone RESELLER in AU does not have a NDA with Apple. These boxes would be popping up all over the place if this was ture. You could VERY easly open the box and leak the contents to the public becuase 100's of these boxes would have been shipped if it was real and no one would be able to figure out who opened their box.

Its a fake.
