not to mention making stabs at the guys financial stability (gutbomb). And how wouldn't Steve and his Att partners confirming the future existence of a 3g iphone not be a confirmation that indeed a 3g iphone will be available in the future (hopefully monday). That seems like public info to me...

Oh but it's more. This "private apple product tester" doesn't even have a mac. According to his profile he has a quad core PC running OS X (which is against apple's license agreement btw) and is currently saving up for a macbook pro (for school).

Working from home not really workin' out for ya?

Where you at baffles? the information helping your credibility is just PILING up here.

To be fair you are misrepresenting his profile information, it actually reads as follows "Quad Core PC Desktop (runs OS X), Gateway Laptop, several servers, buying MBP soon!"
You missed out some of the items he has and he doesn't say he's saving up to buy a MBP for school at all!! Being a newbie to this site means nothing either, I was reading these forums for over 6 months before i actually joined so I could post.
I don't know if these boxes are real or not but why don't we just wait until these people CAN open the boxes without breaking the NDA and then they can post pics of what's inside, un-boxing photos even to show that what inside is real (if in fact it is real)

Thank you. This was my point.

Seems a bit ironic coming from someone asking him to either break the NDA, or to break it further, by opening the box and disclosing what is inside just so you can see.

I'm not ACTUALLY asking him to break his NDA because I don't believe he actually is under one. I'm helping to weed out the hoaxers, not to get people to break NDAs.

The stabs about financial stability are meant to point out that Apple is not going to select someone to privately test their equipment if they are not even under gainful employment. It just makes sense. I guess that sort of thing might happen in a fantasy world...

It becomes true (and no longer covered by the NDA) once someone NOT UNDER NDA releases VERIFIABLE evidence that the information under NDA is public. It is NOT public KNOWLEDGE that a 3G iPhone is coming out. It is an assumption. I would go ahead and say that if a 3G iPhone is not released or announced next week you and I would be extremely shocked. Yes, it's almost a given, but that "almost" is what keeps it under NDA. Until apple confirms it explicitly it is still covered by the NDA. The NDAs are used so APPLE can release the information, not so they can have their thunder stolen by some reporter who asks a guy the right questions in the right way so he can spill all without breaking the NDA.

Just because some guy (steve jobs) says "eventually there will be an iphone available with 3g" that does not mean someone currently testing a 3g iphone in secrecy can say "apple's next iphone has 3g." That still breaks the NDA

I read his posting history. He mentions wanting a MBP for school.

what are you stalking him...?
I'm still missing how Att and Steve himself (probably not under NDA) says a 3g iphone will be available doesn't make the possibility of a 3g iphone not public information. When its released is up for debate sure, thats a rumor, but the fact apple will release a 3g iphone has been known since steve talked about it when he introduced the first iphone. but keep digging into this meaningless debate.

and btw the money he spent on computer doesn't make him financially unstable. Because by that note, you are doing way worse than that man...so says your profile :)

Stalking him is saying a bit much. He came in here and claimed he received a box that is an obvious fabrication. I called his credibility into question by producing evidence that he's not who he says he is. pretty simple. There are enough rumours around without this joker stirring the pot with delusions of grandeur.

Mentioning his computer equipment and related desires had nothing to do with his finances and more to point out how unlikely it is that someone who is a "private apple product tester" would be someone that breaks the apple license agreement on a hackintosh. absolutely nothing to do with money. The only time I actually called his finances into question was when i said the cheap look of his kitchen table was enough to convince me he was not wealthy. It's not like I am going around making fun of the guy because he's poor. I'm just calling him a liar.

fair enough, just no need to take personal shots at the guy, I think we knew how you felt before that post. I don't think he's in all this trouble, and I don't care what's in his box, just what's in my box when I open my purchased iphone. Why spoil the surprise anyway, things are always better when steve talks about and presents them, thats how his reality distortion field works.:D

I'm still puzzled why Apple would early ship this to a TESTER before it's announced. Why does a TESTER need it on the very day it's announced? Why not just express ship it after it's announced? It'll be in the public domain then, so there's zero risk of a leak.

Someone noticed a jigsaw puzzle in a corner of one of the photos. True enough, it's there. Hmm, puzzle pieces. You don't think he's trying to tell us something?

It's all rather baffling;)

1. You can still be wealthy and have a crappy looking table 2. You can not be wealthy and still be a software developer/product tester; it really has no relevance

Maybe it is as simple as sometimes when you test things, and when finished, you have to send the test hardware back. Depending on the product and duration of testing, you may get a free production version of what you tested as a "parting gift" or thank you.

or something

and whatnot

the wealth comment was a snide comment sure, but it was directly related to why he was home on a friday afternoon to personally sign for a package. If he was wealthy, I'd see no problem with him being home on a friday to get said package. It didn't have anything to do with being a software developer. It was just something meant to make people laugh. I've seen too many iphone case photos on the front page of this site being shown as "the new iphone" to let another idiot hoaxer get his stuf up there, that's all. If no one pointed out the shoddy credibility of this guy this fake box he posted would be just another in a long line of hoax crap that makes it to the front page of this site.

plus it was funny. lighten the **** up.

Don't open the box!

Don't turn on the 3G iPhone with GPS!

Apple will track you using the GPS and will send some ninjas at your place!

Peace brother!

:D

... someone who is a "private apple product tester" would be .....

Hey, I bought an Airport Extreme Base Station (N) the week it came out. If you remember, that was the crappy 10/100 ethernet model that was replaced by gigabit a few short months later. It also had the AirDisk feature that never worked! There were a lot of gripes on the boards about how we early adopters were just Apple's unofficial testers.

So, can I call myself a "private apple product tester". Pleeeease.:D

I work for a top-secret government agency and have access to state-of-the-art image-enhancing software that, among other things, can make out what's inside an envelope. After running the posted photo through several algorithms and creating a composite, I've determined that this is what's inside the package. I'm not sure what it means.

Once again a pointless comment, if you work from home then of course you are home on a Friday afternoon, even if you work at a place of business maybe you have Friday's off, maybe you took the day off, maybe you were home sick, maybe you were home for lunch when the package arrived... who cares, there are so many variables as to why someone would be home to accept a package and it's all completely unimportant and again non-relevant!

Besides, when does being home on a Friday afternoon = being wealthy? A few weeks ago I was on vacation for 2.5 weeks, and I was home for THREE whole Friday's, does this mean that I must be incredibly wealthy? I must have missed something somewhere.. where's my wealth damnit!!!

Looks like a lemon poppyseed muffin. Mmmmm

(seriously folks, the last time I had this much fun with an empty cardboard box... I was about five :) )

it was a GD joke, way to overanalyze.

I rescind that portion of my comments. The guy is still a liar and doesn't deserve respect. jesus christ.

Boxes? Elevators? I thought this site was about electronica?! Over there on Infinite Loop they must be rolling on the floor laughing. And a propos of nothing, a pal of mine is giving a talk at the WWDC about dinosaurs (honest!). And no, he doesn't live in a box.

I don't think you were joking, seems clear you were coming up with as many crazy reasons as to why his box was fake. I personally don't believe either of the boxes are real either, but rather than concoct all sorts of reasons as to why I think it's fake I would rather just say "it's a fake", end of story.
