I think your all neglecting to mention that

The iphone isn't even sold in Australia, and if it was going to be sold soon everyone would know the release date as the carrier and Apple would have announced it.

How gullible are you.

don't you think it will be released date will be next week to be denounced on Tuesday

Why would they have announced it? That probably won't happen until WWDC.

Very true. Rogers here in Canada said in an earnings report that the iPhone was coming, but no official announcement, why would Australia be any different? Steve will probably introduce major countries himself, as he did with the UK and other European countries.

i hate to say it but i opened my box and there was a photo of steve with a note
Here's a little something to remember me by!

no lies! I HAVE PICTURES!
cardboardboxfd0.jpg

;)

I'll bet there's a cardboard model of a first gen iPhone inside the box, but on the day of the keynote, Steve will tell the resellers to open the cardboard model, and there will be a working 3G iPhone inside. Of course, by this time, everyone will have opened the main box, and thrown the cardboard iPhone-- along with the 3G iphone-- away in frustration. And Apple thought they were so smart....

i am not sure if this is photoshoped to be honest....
but can someone tell me is there are postage stamp [marked as red] in the world,
that it would only stamp half of it which another half gone missing completely?
what is the purpose of the stamp then?

The logo and the address on the top right ...is a PO box address...

May be i am too sensitive....but dun think it is real at my point of view...

OK, if it's not photoshopped, then someone physically made it. The point is, their are no real shipping labels, it is frowned upon HEAVILY to put a label on the bottom of a box, it is too conspicuous with the Apple logo slapped on there, and Apple WOULD NEVER DO SOMETHING SO STUPID! Happy? We're done here.

Lol

'look how cool I am - you can buy me on this date'

How embarrassing, I really hope Apple can change this display sign before the iPhone goes on display.

Any time sensitive product comes with a warning like that, including movies and games. They have labels that will say something like "do not open/sell until (blank)." The companies that produce the product and ship it before the product is to go on sale have non-disclosure agreements with the retailers, and if the retailers breach that agreement, they could be sued, or lose the right to sell that company's product. It's not uncommon or stupid.

The "postage stamp" isn't a postage stamp, it's a manufacturers stamp for the box manufacturer which shows that this is the bottom on the box!!

You know the Steve lead lined the boxes right ;-)

We'll just use neutron radiography then. Simple :)

OK, I'm settling this. This is not real. Besides the fact it is a bad photoshop, Apple IS NOT STUPID, and WOULD NOT ship something like this before it is announced. And you want to know why? Because people like us go to sites like this. Not real. Done. Enough about the holiday, it's not real. Give me 10 minutes, and I will make something that looks the exact same or better than that, and the box will contain spiders to eat your faces... or rhinos. I haven't decided. Probably rhinos.

You've had more than 120 minutes. We're still waiting ;)

Its obviously a very slow news day today!

Fake for one reason. There is a "stamp" on the box, but as only half is showing it stands to reason that the white "shipping label" was put on afterwards, so a FAKE!

New photo for the nay-sayers of the black boxes.

Box is sent to Apple Australia, Apple Australia sends it out with new info to resellers. Therefore different stamps.

When Steve Jobs begins the WWDC keynote speech it will be June 10 in Australia. So that means we don't have to wait a day for this mysterious product to be bought by us

I remember a while ago there was a similar thing, where apple stores received packages with "DO NOT OPEN UNTIL <date>" on them. I just can't remember what it was about or if it turned out to be legitimate. Can anyone remember what that was and what happened with it?

Well I'm still anxious but mainly pissed off now. Apple isn't streaming the event live, and I'm in NZ, so even if they did I wouldn't be able to see it all before having to go to school, where Apple.com is blocked.

This blows. One time where I'm actually unhappy about being in a nuclear-free country.

Does anyone know how good that alternative online TV thing is?

I want to try going through this one - I'll just have to talk nicely to the IT at school ;)

its an Apple bomb, timed to explode on the day when all Apple internet narcs are online....dont open it its a Bill Gates ploy!

This really has nothing to do with your post, but when I saw your location, I actually looked behind me. Then I smacked my head on the wall, then the dog woke up. And now I have to let her out and feed her. So thanks. Jerk. Ugh, woozy....

Haha, sorry. How comes there's a wall that close to you and your computer? Are you in some kind of super-tiny room? Hey, maybe I just saved your dog from a lifetime of loneliness, or something.

Back to the box... are there lots of them? If that's the only box, then either it's a display one (as I believe someone mentioned) or, you know, something else.

Anyone working in dispatch that places a label on the top or bottom of a box is in serious trouble, the printing/shipping company can lose a client by shipping boxes like this.

Not true - I've got a pile of boxes in this office and most of them have the labels on the top. Aside from the usual bunch of boxes from resellers the notable ones that are packed that way are the MSDN ones shipped direct from Microsoft.

I think it's done that way so you have to rip the label to open the box.
