Apple isn't running a lemonade stand. This is one of the most sophisticated manufacturing/sales organizations in the history of humanity. Have no doubt that they have a very good idea about what initial demand will be, and the fact that they didn't have even 10 minutes of stock on hand is a strong suggestion that they didn't care that they had insufficient supply to meet the demand for the people who cared enough to be shopping at 5:00 a.m. Of course, I bought it anyway, but it's just one more small indignity that in totality can add up to death by 1,000 cuts as Apple whittles away it's substantial decades long goodwill with me.

Manufacturing lemonade is not the same thing as manufacturing a hundred million electronic devices in the span of a couple of months. Obviously there is a limit to what can be produced in a given time. Well obvious to some people I guess.

But hey there's always Android. Always plenty of those turds available on release day.

Hey, for the few of you complaining here about "WHY UPGRADE?" or "IT MAKES NO SENSE!" or "IT COSTS MORE THAN A MORTGAGE!" or "I DON'T UNDERSTAND!" or, even better, "ANDROID HAD THIS FOR YEARS!" or whatever else...

Some of us can afford it and love upgrading. Besides, on the iPhone Upgrade Program, I just pay the taxes and keep moving on with a new phone, never paying full price while deducting the expenses. All while still earning points on my transactions. This is a killer deal for me. Said differently, it almost makes NO SENSE to NOT UPGRADE!

Besides, for some of us, likely MANY of us, the iPhone is not just a phone. It's a success tool. I make way more money with my iPhone than the cost of the iPhone. Talking to prospects, opening or closing certain trades, sending invoices and getting paid on them, transferring money or paying bills, using the hotspot so I can do more on my laptop, conference calls, oh my God the emails I send/receive about everything, and whatever else.

On a personal note, I have kids and I want to document as much as I can of their lives with photos and videos. This is a phenomenal transaction for me overall. So, please, don't try to spoil my fun or that of other people. I ordered two phones (iPhone 11 Pro for my wife and a Pro Max for me). We're both SUPER happy. Also, I have an Apple Watch Series 5 Titanium coming in. And, to make things real fun for the haters or the boohoo'ers, I just ordered a Tesla Model 3 and I should get that by the end of the month. Make better choices, learn a marketable skill, hustle, and manage your money better. It makes days like today extra fun. At least way more fun than your "negative" comments. Oh, and have a great day! Mine is excellent so far!

Nice try, Mr. Cook.

Not the same, but definitely not worth spending >$1000 for. I don't even know anyone who has 802.11ax and 13% faster LTE? LOL!
Not for everyone no. But also its not $1000 if you are trading in/selling an old iPhone.
Also there are upgrades beyond the wifi and faster LTE,
The camera and video options, the improved Facial recognition, faster processor, U1 chip
etc..

t-mobile's site is absolute crap. On the upside, I've memorized my new CC number. On the downside, I've bought this bloody phone more than 20 times only to get to "Oops, we've hit a snag. You're still on track!" only to have to start over. Again.

I assumed this would be the case so I called at 0700 central and got my wife an 11 in green for 09/20 arrival.

Few people do actually pay for a phone upfront, they buy it with their subscription. £1000 might seem like a lot of money for a phone, but £50 per month for a brand new phone, 100GB of data, unlimited calls, free roaming in the EU, US & Canada is certainly reasonable -- and that's what most people buy, at least here in the UK ;)

iOS market share is pretty stable (around 25%) in Europe for the last couple of years, so I'm not sure what "big time" marketshare loss you are talking about o_O

Look up the numbers and graph!. Apple is loosing market share every year, while Samsung and other Chinese brands are growing.

Yeah, we use our iPhones “almost” every single day! It’s well worth upgrading.

I can understand not wanting to upgrade from last year's model, but nobody is forcing you. I'm upgrading from an iPhone 7 and this should be a really huge upgrade. Especially looking forward to the camera and screen improvements on the 11 Pro!
The monthly charge isn't that much to upgrade so why not!
I have an XR and i love it but I want the upgrades and am thinking about the 11 pro..
thinking it will fit my hand better..enjoy!

I forgot to set my alarm so by the time I ordered the 256GB green pro max my ship date had already moved to 10/1. Oops! And I think that green color is awesome.

Midnight Green was the worst colour - in fact the worst coloured iPhone ever.
Agreed, I would call it "swamp green" but I went ahead and got it anyway (512GB so I don't have to make compromises). Went for the green because it was different (getting tired of space gray). I would love to see vibrant colors on the Pro line, but I guess that is what cases are for?

Now that I upgrade to a new iphone 11, from a very old iphone 6s plus. It is time to order my new Macbook Pro 16in model. this is where i am going to spend most of my money this year. $3800 on a new Macbook Pro. Was thinking about the new Mac Pro at $6000 which i can afford. But it would sit at home not being used a majority of the time. So will just do a Macbook Pro trade in every 5 years and not keep doing a tower upgrading every 10 years, until i retire then i will have more free time to work at home.

Damn! Even with the more competitively priced 11, the Pro is selling out like hot cakes. That just shows how much the third camera makes a difference for a lot of people.

Every year, the naysayers say that Apple is losing their edge. Can't compete. Can't make a worthwhile product.

Not "innovative" they say. "Not what Jobs would do," they say.

Every year...they are wrong.

Yet. iPhone sale is in decline, so what is give? There is no sign that decline is going to be reversed.

Nice try, Mr. Cook.

LOL! Nah. I’m not him. I have way less money, way less profile, but I have lots of time for myself and my family. I’m happy where I’m at in life, contrary to that other person claiming I’m “very unhappy”.

I ordered at 5:01 via the iPhone app. Two phones (11 and 11 pro) and got the 23rd as a delivery date. I was surprised to not get the 20th. I called (because they keep defaulting to my old address for shipping), and they told me if I had picked in-store pickup I would have it the 20th. Lesson learned. I've always gotten them on release day, so the 23rd surprised me. I'm now on hold to figure out why they keep picking up my old address for shipping when it's not listed anywhere on their site anymore. I haven't lived there for five years now.

Shortly after pre-orders for Apple's new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro models went live, supplies of the new higher-end iPhone 11 Pro models began dwindling, with launch day shipping no longer available for many colors and capacities.

Most iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max models in the midnight green color went first, suggesting it is the most popular color this year. At this time, most new Pro models in midnight green will ship in late September to early October.

Space Gray, Silver, and Gold iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max models are also selling out quickly with many colors and capacities across several carriers now unavailable for launch day delivery. Gold devices are still in stock along with a few Silver and Space Gray, but it looks like all available supply will soon be exhausted.

The iPhone 11 appears to be faring better and most models in most colors and capacities can still be purchased for launch day delivery.

Given how fast the iPhone 11 Pro is selling out, it's best to place an order as early as possible. Those who don't get launch day delivery may be able to visit an Apple Store or another retail location on launch day to get a new iPhone.

Update 6:15 a.m.: Shipping estimates for select models of the iPhone 11, led by the new green and purple colors for T-Mobile and Sprint customers, have started slipping beyond the September 20 launch date as well.

i wonder how much quicker the green sold out. I was there literally the instant the store opened so i probably coulda gotten the green if i wanted, but based on all the hands on images and videos ive seen gold looks pretty swanky

And? The active user base continues to grow for Apple and they own 90% of the industry's profit. Apple doesn't compete for market share because they don't sell $50 phones.

I looked them up: iOS market share in Europe was around 25% in 2017, it is around 24% now. Hardly a plummeting market share ;) Sure, it cannot compete with Android, but nor does it need or intend to. Apple is a single manufacturer competing in the middle to high-end segment, whereas Android phones are sold by a dozen or so manufacturers in all price segments.

Then I’m genuinely happy for you. Alas, I cannot significantly improve nor amplify my happiness no matter what iPhone or Tesla I buy. Glad it works for you mate.

Got the 256 gig Midnight Green Pro Max through Apple. I had both the Apple website and AT&T going at once. Apple delivery slated between 9/27 and 10/1. AT&T said I could get my phone on launch day but in going through the upgrade process, the phone they THOUGHT I was upgrading was an iPhone 6 (I currently have the Xs Max). I haven't had an iPhone 6 since it was released. Given that huge, and WEIRD, gaff, I took the safer route and went through Apple. AT&T has a tendency to screw stuff like this up. I opted for safe rather than worrying about sorry.
