Not the same, but definitely not worth spending >$1000 for. I don't even know anyone who has 802.11ax and 13% faster LTE? LOL!
50% more dram 30% faster cpu.

keep dreaming your iPhone 7 isn’t out of date this year.

If it turns out the 256GB model features 6GB RAM and the 64 doesn’t, I will be really sad. Already thinking I might sell off this one in ~10 months and if the case of less RAM comes through I will certainly go through with that plan.

You honestly shouldn't care what ram the phone actually has in it - there's a reason Apple never tells you on stage because it's irrelevant.

Thing is, nobody knows just how many phones Apple actually will have ready for launch day.

They may have simply not manufactured as many as the year before, but who knows?

Actually we already had news that they ordered same amount of phones than last year for the end of the year.

I agree. Trying to judge the sales of a particular model simply by the speed of sellout without knowing the supply amount is a fools errand. And there are always plenty of people who just know this or that model is popular or not.

justification: it’s a device that people use 1-2 hours every single day that also contains a new camera which replaces nearly all point and shoot cameras and some DSLRs

If you only use it 1-2 hours a day you must not have screen time on :D :D :D

For me, it is an essential tool for communicating with family as well as business stuff (including professionally recording b roll footage in 4K). I will spend roughly $40 per month if I go with the pro model - I have no cable bill or car payment.

Regardless, justifying or dejustifying others priorities in spending is a fools errand.

A little surprised to see that the iPhone 11 pro in green at 512 is still available for pickup next Friday in both Nashville Apple stores

All models still available for in store pick up or delivery on launch day in Hong Kong!! Seems demand here is not high as they normally sell out very quickly.

I suspect the stock dwindled fast because APPLE did not make many phones anticipating low demand. Unless you need that camera, or are upgrading from an older (much older) phone, there is ZERO point to the 11. Other than ridiculous revenue for APPLE.

I know your comment above is really just an effort to provoke others. So I’ll bite on it. First, you have zero knowledge of what Apple’s production rates were for launch day. Suggesting they forecast lower numbers has zero basis in reality.

Second, people including me, buy new devices for reasons other than the camera or because we have a much older device. I’m currently using a X, so it’s just two years old at this point. My primary reason for upgrading is getting the longer battery life. I often travel for work and was just not getting the battery life out of it that I wanted / needed. The camera improvements will be a nice upgrade as well, given I have been doing a lot shots of customer projects that should benefit from the new 3 lens system. The added water resistance, new glass, speed improvements, all just add to the list of why I and others are upgrading.

I’ll very likely keep it for at least two years - unless there is some really compelling reason to upgrade next year.

I wonder when they’re going to allow you to reserve it for a walk-in pickup without paying beforehand. Need the iPhone 11 Pro Midnight Green 64GB for my partner.
My guess is handling the transaction and selection in advance is a very important part of making sure the action in-store appointments go as smoothly as possible (with fewer delays on account of product selection, payment or approval complications, etc.).

I've had every iPhone since the 3GS and I could always justify getting the new one. This year, the 11 Pro made it easy for me with longer battery life and better wireless chipset. I use my phone around 5 hours a day with #1 category being work-related stuff. I need these 2 upgrades. Will be picking up my 11 Pro 64GB (I don't store a lot of things on the phone so I don't need the extra storage) on Sept 20th at my local Apple Store.

Just for the naysayers... ordered a 11 Pro 256 Midnight Green. Thought I’d try the smaller form factor. Don’t have much need for 512. If I don’t like the smaller form factor, I’ll pass it to my wife and get another.

By the way, upgraded from a 11S Max...

The camera or the new computational photography capabilities associated with that camera. Another major advance is in battery life which ought to matter to some people. Outside that, generally speaking, smartphones are mature products now, and the case for yearly upgrades ought to be harder for most people to make. Apple seems to be aware of this and has shifted to designing phones better suited for use over an extended period of time.

Reserved mine using the iPhone Upgrade Program but pretty annoying that after only two minutes I was already too late for launch day delivery. WTF.

How did online inventory deplete so quickly but my local Apple Stores still have inventory available for launch day pickup.

haven't been able to check out for Apple iPhone Upgrade with the Apple Store app as I get stuck when it asks for the SS number for my T-Mobile account. My SS it not attached to teh account. Anyone know how to get around this? Do I have to go to an Apple store to do my upgrade in person?

This will be the first year I don't have a (red) case. Decided to go green and didn't want the christmas theme color green+red. I was surprised when the cases were available right after the keynote so mine will be here today and will sit empty for a week. hah!

From the way I'm seeing, if any good features were to announce next year, the pre-order will be a bloodbath.

Pre-ordered mine via Telenor in Norway.
Due to some technical problems with the serve submitting the order, I managed to submit my order at 14:04 (opened 14:00)
Hope I also get it on day 1.

#1 - Not identical.

#2 - because you turn around and sell last year's model for about 80% of your total cost. Makes an annual purchase just a couple hundred bucks.

But it is really relevant. Devices with less RAM always show their age sooner. The 6 is a slow “disk”swapping mess compared to the 6S. The latest iOS version is released onto devices based solely on how much RAM they shipped with. Ignoring RAM is just foolish. But hey if you don’t think so I might have a phone to sell you in 10 months :)

Hey, for the few of you complaining here about "WHY UPGRADE?" or "IT MAKES NO SENSE!" or "IT COSTS MORE THAN A MORTGAGE!" or "I DON'T UNDERSTAND!" or, even better, "ANDROID HAD THIS FOR YEARS!" or whatever else...

Some of us can afford it and love upgrading. Besides, on the iPhone Upgrade Program, I just pay the taxes and keep moving on with a new phone, never paying full price while deducting the expenses. All while still earning points on my transactions. This is a killer deal for me. Said differently, it almost makes NO SENSE to NOT UPGRADE!

Besides, for some of us, likely MANY of us, the iPhone is not just a phone. It's a success tool. I make way more money with my iPhone than the cost of the iPhone. Talking to prospects, opening or closing certain trades, sending invoices and getting paid on them, transferring money or paying bills, using the hotspot so I can do more on my laptop, conference calls, oh my God the emails I send/receive about everything, and whatever else.

On a personal note, I have kids and I want to document as much as I can of their lives with photos and videos. This is a phenomenal transaction for me overall. So, please, don't try to spoil my fun or that of other people. I ordered two phones (iPhone 11 Pro for my wife and a Pro Max for me). We're both SUPER happy. Also, I have an Apple Watch Series 5 Titanium coming in. And, to make things real fun for the haters or the boohoo'ers, I just ordered a Tesla Model 3 and I should get that by the end of the month. Make better choices, learn a marketable skill, hustle, and manage your money better. It makes days like today extra fun. At least way more fun than your "negative" comments. Oh, and have a great day! Mine is excellent so far!

Just couldn't justify the pro model. Went for the 11.

Same. Apple's got to know their pricing has popped over the limit in the past two years for lots of people that would have otherwise pulled the trigger on the high end. But then, maybe they don't care. Selling more 11's is better than selling a few more pro's.
