People are really something. They know they've lost when they try to attack customers. (Is this on topic moderators?)

That wasn't an attack on Apple customers. It was a comment about some people believing Apple customers don't have agency over their lives (and thus will buy anything Apple makes, good or bad).

Clearly, I don't believe that.

“Apple only sells because of all the iSheep that will buy anything for the name.”

When you can’t understand why the iPhone dominates the smartphone world outselling Pixel and Galaxy by 10:1 so have to tell yourself it’s because every single one of those sales went to a fanatic rather than admitting they make the best smartphone.
IPhone doesn’t dominate the smartphone world. It dominates the part of the world running iOS but only has 15.7% of global shipments of smartphones

Apple's iPhone is 2nd in the world for smartphone sales by brand unit sales, second only to Samsung, but it is 1st in the world in the mid to high end market (since Samsung's numbers include lots of crappy low end models). iPhone is also 1st in the world in terms of profits. In fact, it's been claimed that iPhone profit is higher than all other smartphone profits combined.

It's a relatively close race even for unit sales though, since in some quarters in recent years, Apple has outsold Samsung by unit volume too (even despite Samsung's sales of lots of crappy low end models). This typically happens in Q4 just after new iPhones have been released.

It’s only because Samsung, OnePlus, Google etc share a market place. If iPhone shared its, the market share would drop further.

The iPhone completely dominates the flagship market. Apple doesn’t sell $100 iPhones and doesn’t compete in the budget space so you can’t compare total sales of all smartphones.

Apples to Apples, as they say.

That argument doesn't even make sense. Basically you're saying that if the iPhone didn't have its current feature set, it wouldn't sell as well. Well, no **** Sherlock, but that's a bizarre hypothetical that doesn't apply to the current real world scenario.

Sorry, no. This chart is for phones over $600 and Apple clearly dominates over all other companies COMBINED. Back when they used to use $800 or $1000 as the cutoff point the iPhone market share was close to 80/90%.

The new camera bump design looks horrible.
Obviously everybody loves camera bumps so much that they're now putting camera bumps on the camera bump...
(Then people complain that the thickness of the USB-C connector is holding back smartphone design...)

My awe is dropping as I speak...

In a world dealing with the financial strain of inflation its nice to see Apple not catering to those with less disposable income and just keeps focusing on how to justify higher prices on increasingly cheaper to create derivatives of past products.

To pile on, just for fun…

“Awe Dropping”?? Does that mean they're dropping the awe?!🫢

Perhaps, they misordered the words in the title.

Apple's events, a long while back, were *awesome* and well worth watching.

Now, they're “Dropping Awe” — which just leaves “some”. 😂

Can someone answer my question?

If the iPhone 17 Air has only one camera is it likely to be the same 48MP Fusion camera that is in the 16e?

What about all smartphones? Picking graphs to Apple’s benefit doesn’t really help your case

Clearly you don’t understand what we’re talking about.

Apple only sells flagship phones. Samsung sells flagship phones (Galaxy S25, for example) plus a whole bunch of budget phones (starting under $100).

It’s asinine to compare how many $100 phones Samsung sells to the iPhone because they’re in a different market. The only reason people do this is because they’re desperate to get a “win” against Apple by combining sales of ALL devices against the iPhone.

Phones are pretty much a "solved" device like laptops and fridges. I'll stick with my 14Pro one more year I think. Maybe two. At this point it's more about replacing a device that is subject to entropy than upgrading for any new features.

I suspect the 17 Air will have a 1X lens and sensor most similar to the 16, not the 16e.

The reason I say this is that the 16e has a much smaller camera bump than the 16, because the 16e has a smaller sensor. For the 16, 16 Pro, and 17 Air dummy, the camera lens sticks out on top of a camera island.

For the 16e, there is no such camera island. The camera lens sticks out directly from the back.

iPhone 17 Pro should start at $999
Ideally it should, but I wouldn't be surprised if it starts at $1099 with an upgrade to 256 GB storage.
